Chapter 402: Chapter 402: Meeting

"Meow!"

A familiar cat’s meow brought Bai Yanliang back to his senses just as he pushed open the courtyard gate.

"Allen Allan Poe." Bai Yanliang looked down at the little black cat he hadn’t seen for a long time.

This little guy was happily flicking its tail, rubbing against his pants over and over.

It seemed he hadn’t been back in a long, long time.

The yard was empty, and he looked towards the old pagoda tree in the corner, which still exuded its chilling aura.

Entering the yard, Bai Yanliang suddenly felt somewhat uncomfortable.

He glanced at the room where He Yige used to live, and heard a creak as the door unexpectedly swung open.

He Yige, a lawyer, and perhaps... he was the lawyer from the Dark Abyss.

"The boss wants to see you." He Yige looked at Bai Yanliang with a strange expression on his face.

"The boss?" Bai Yanliang looked at He Yige, who seemed to have no intention of hiding it anymore.

"The existence of the Dark Abyss is to wait for the boss’s return; at least, I am," He Yige smiled.

This sentence made Bai Yanliang’s heart skip a beat.

Could the boss he mentioned be...

He Yige suddenly reached into his collar, pulling out a red key hanging around his neck and inserted it into the lock of his own room.

"Follow me."

He Yige nudged the door slightly open, and an eerie light spilled through the crack. The glow wasn’t blinding; it was hard to even say it was light.

Because although Bai Yanliang could see the light shining through the door crack, the light did not illuminate anything around it, it simply existed.

"Allen Allan Poe, wait for me at home."

Squatting down to stroke the little black cat’s head, Bai Yanliang stood up and walked toward He Yige.

Yu Wenxuan was right, tangling in human conspiracies was pointless; he no longer worried about his identity. Now, he had to find a way out for everyone still alive.

Stepping through the doorway, the light suddenly vanished.

The ground beneath his feet began to shift continuously, like puzzle pieces overlapping and intertwining, as if forming a new path.

"We can’t linger long in the real world."

He Yige seemed to be explaining.

The sound of the door closing echoed behind them, the way back was completely gone, and the light was cut off, leaving a frightening silence.

Bai Yanliang couldn’t hear a sound from the outside world; here was the world within the door. If an ordinary person walked here, their heart would undoubtedly race as fast as their footsteps.

Fortunately, he and He Yige hadn’t been walking for long. The dim light surrounding them gradually grew brighter, like strands of luminous crystal ribbons dancing in every direction.

This magical scene told Bai Yanliang that this was indeed another world.

"The boss has arrived." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

He Yige suddenly stopped, smiled mysteriously at Bai Yanliang, and then turned around.

The flesh on his back suddenly expanded rapidly, a strange lump of flesh bulging up from his shoulder, writhing wildly.

With a sharp creaking noise, slender limbs first sprouted from the mass on He Yige’s back, followed by a head full of hair, and with a plop, a sticky "humanoid" figure fell to the ground.

It was growing at a speed visible to the naked eye!

This is...

This person is!

When it was fully formed and stood naked before Bai Yanliang, his heart nearly leaped out of his chest.

This person... wasn’t it Bai Yanliang himself???

"Don’t be surprised." The "Bai Yanliang" who had grown out from He Yige’s back patiently explained, "The relationship between the soul and the body is like a vessel and water."

"I’ve just changed to a body similar to your vessel."

"Unfortunately, I failed," "Bai Yanliang" shook his head, "I spent many years cultivating this body, but I still couldn’t fool the Fog Gathering, couldn’t deceive them."

"You wanted to replace me in entering the Fog Gathering?" Bai Yanliang understood his implication, yet found it unbelievable.

"That’s right, it would have been good for everyone," "Bai Yanliang" sighed regretfully, "Back then, Bai Yanren obtained the most keys, and he left behind many authorizations that only his brother could unlock. When you were in the mental asylum, I extracted some things from you during each check-up; this body is your clone, even more like the original you than you are now."

"But, the one chosen by the Fog Gathering was still you, not me."

He said regretfully.

Clone...

This technology, and this insane idea, Bai Yanliang almost instantly guessed who he was.

"You’re Dr. Zhou Tian."

"Bai Yanliang" smiled and nodded, "Yes, it is indeed me."

Dr. Zhou Tian’s true self was here, and no doubt there was a clone in the Time-Space Gap.

Then... what was Yu Wenxuan’s role in all of this?

How did he know so much about the Fog Gathering and Dr. Zhou Tian?

"You’re thinking about Yu Wenxuan?"

Dr. Zhou Tian saw right through Bai Yanliang’s thoughts.

He gave Bai Yanliang no chance to deny it, just moved his fingers slightly, and a cup filled with red liquid appeared out of thin air in front of Bai Yanliang.

"As I was saying earlier, the relationship between the human body and soul is like a vessel and water. This cup filled with red liquid water is Yu Wenxuan."

Dr. Zhou Tian moved his fingers slightly, and the cup representing Yu Wenxuan, filled with red liquid, suddenly tilted, spilling half of the red liquid.

"As a child, Yu Wenxuan was violently beaten, nearly losing his life, his soul consciousness shattering when half of it was lost..."

Dr. Zhou Tian snapped his fingers, and a cup filled with blue liquid, covered in cracks, appeared out of thin air.

"This is me. I had just emerged from the Time-Space Gap, and my body was on the verge of collapse."

"For Yu Wenxuan Junior, and for myself, I did this..."

Under Dr. Zhou Tian’s control, the cup filled with cracked blue liquid tilted suddenly, and the blue liquid gushed into the half-empty red liquid cup, refilling the "Yu Wenxuan’s cup."

Under Bai Yanliang’s watchful gaze, the liquid in the filled Yu Wenxuan cup mixed rapidly.

Red and blue entangled, indistinguishable.

"In fact, I could have poured my entire soul into Yu Wenxuan Junior’s body. My soul and consciousness are far stronger than his, but I didn’t do that."

Dr. Zhou Tian smiled as he looked at Bai Yanliang.

"After all, I needed to prepare for re-entering the Fog Gathering. Bai Yanren cut off all the ways for the elders back then; we can no longer enter the Fog Gathering."

"I made two preparations: one was Yu Wenxuan, and the other was you."

Dr. Zhou Tian sighed regretfully again, "But unfortunately, neither path succeeded. The other half of my soul entered your clone body, yet couldn’t fool the Fog Gathering. And the part of the soul that merged with Yu Wenxuan was also swallowed by him as he gradually grew up. However, he was subtly influenced by me."

"Didn’t you all see him as a ruthless madman?"

Dr. Zhou walked closer to Bai Yanliang, his smile chilly.
