Freedom Jumper-Chapter 104: God Killer
Chapter 104: God Killer
"Oh great, how did you end up here?" A voice resounded within the massive expanse of a pillared cobblestone room – an infinite room filled with tall and finely detailed columns. Endless lights coming from thick wooden torches that were plastered to the wall by metal brackets gave the infinite room a dungeon-like feel.
Niko was laying on the cold stone floor, and after standing up with a small feeling of dizziness, he voiced his emotions. "What?! It's you again! How did I get here?" In front of him was a completely naked man with not a single hanging body part or anything that made him a male. It was an empty body.
"Don't know, don't care – so go back to where you came from."
"Hmmm. To me it sounds like you can't kick me out of here this time. What has changed?" Niko asked Damon.
"You! You wanted to come here!" Damon replied while walking around frantically.
Niko could sense a small hint of fear within his voice – besides the annoyed and sky high ego of course. Maybe this was a perfect opportunity to get some answers. "I will leave when you answer three of my questions... Truthfully."
"Oh! Do you really think I give a single fuck about you to answer your petty questions?" Damon replied with a disobedient smile.
"I think you have every reason to listen to me as I am the one who can decide to stop bothering you." Niko began arguing with Damon, and listened to his threat to run into the infinite expanse of this room. Although, Niko countered with the obvious fact that this place seemed infinite, which it was not. Also, Niko saw a hint of fear while slowly walking towards Damon. He had always wanted to give the Master of Deceit a nice blow to the face. There was no better time the now.
Whoosh!
Niko's hand whizzed past Damon's face the moment he began flinching. That much was way more than enough, and maybe even better than a nice blow to the face.
"You are a god and don't even know how to defend yourself, let alone flinching like a cornered insect. You have no power here do you? After all, you are dead."
"Shut up!" Damon began using a power unbeknownst to Niko that distorted his reality.
In fact, multiple Niko's appeared from his own body and began surrounding him in a fashion that allowed Niko to instantly realize it was an illusion. Of course illusions were the power of the Master of Deceit. Only, it seemed this guy was not using it in an inconspicuous manner, but ignorantly from anger.
"This will all be over if you answer three of my questions!" Niko yelled then paused. "Why did you bring me here?!" The moment Niko asked that question, all the illusions blocking his vision dematerialized into thin air.
"You are so annoying... But to answer your question... I have been trying to bring people from other worlds to help revive us. Yet no one has succeeded. I deemed you a mistake when I looked through your life. What an embarrassment."
Niko built a wicked smile with his inconspicuous change in attitude. "Oh yea, well you are as much of a failure as me! You are a dead god waiting helplessly for someone to save you! What does it even take to revive you?"
"It takes however many normal souls to be worth the souls of the gods. Now quick ask me your last question. You said you would leave right?" Damon asked while his character seemed to be shifting. A man filled with grief and an ego too big to handle was slowly turning into a reasonable man. However, he had been playing Niko like a fiddle since the start.
"What?! That counts as a second question?!" Niko was angered by his ignorance. Maybe the god had been playing him the whole time. Putting up a pitiful front to get Niko to leave, or describing his conditions to leave.
Niko's questions would have been about the outside world. Any info that would help him and Elijah survive. But now, all Niko wanted was that power. Elijah had the ability to fly, which was likely given to him by the god that brought him here. He had not a single thing to help him, but only a god who denounced him coupled by a few bits of information.
"I want your power. Whatever that was... Illusions. I want it!" Niko exclaimed.
"Hahahahaha, hahahahaha." Damon broke into laughter. "First off, that wasn't a question. And secondly, no. A mere human does not deserve the powers of the gods, nor can they handle them..."
"Oh yea! And what if I—" Niko stopped his sentence short while noticing he was about to utter his third question. Likely, he is the person that can get him out of this place, but only if conditions are set by himself, and acted on by the god. Niko had never been one with much perception. However, in his past life, he was an observer. While sitting in the dirty streets, he saw every iteration possible that one could live. By their looks and demeanor, he was able to understand what kind of life they were after. Now... after being reborn, he got to see a whole new side — expanding his observations to a new level, and even understanding the level of perception he is able to unearth.
"You are nothing more than a soul without strength. Your power is meaningless in this infinite expanse. If you won't give it to me, I will take it." Niko's voice was strong and willful, and caused Damon to stutter backwards.
"No! Impossible!"
Thump! An ethereal and translucent barrier was noticed as it rippled on contact with Damon's back. Just like he suspected, this place only seemed infinite. In reality, this was all the beaten soul that a dead god could muster.

Niko's hands were forced against his neck and chest. The body seemed weak and fragile, yet unbreakable. Knowing the idea of souls that held the elemental affinities, he assumed it was the exact same process for this ability. Niko's own mana was forced into the glowing and radiant soul. While it did not feel or look like his — they were similar in the sense a barrier had formed around the soul. However, his mana — the mana of a bright red core mage — traveled effortlessly into his soul, and began latching onto everything. Specks of white light began flowing like a river amongst the path of mana Niko had created, and within just a few minutes, Niko could feel something new inside his very own soul.
During this whole time, Damon had been struggling and screaming.
"You... you took too much idiot... Why..." While Damon did not die, his body slumped to the floor while trembling from a loss of power.
Niko — while standing over his dead body — asked his last and final question. "What did I take from you?"
"Dammit!! My power!!!"
Clap*
The moment Damon's hands were clasped together, the entire world inside Niko's prideful eyes went dark. However, beforehand, a smile of finally feeling powerful made way – showing the semi-straight teeth of a ten year old boy.
