Fortunate to Have You This Lifetime-Chapter 855 - Scared_1
Chapter 855 -855 Scared_1
When Caitlin Carter went to find Purple Summers, Purple had just woken up.
Upon learning that Edward Carter and the elder Carters had come to visit her, Purple quickly washed up, changed her clothes, and went downstairs, where she inevitably engaged in another round of polite small talk.
Purple wasn’t really accustomed to such socializing but forced herself to cope out of politeness.
They praised Purple and talked about the Presidential Palace’s banquet, their emotions running high, declaring they would definitely be there to show their support.
Purple was very pleased; another person recognizing her identity meant extra security for her return to Clearwater.
After the Carter Family left, Purple went upstairs to her room and ran into Violet Nelson in the long hallway.
Violet Nelson’s gaze was icy cold.
“You must be very pleased with yourself,” Violet said coldly, her voice light, “In two days, at the banquet, you’ll become the center of attention as the president’s daughter. After all your careful plotting, you’ve finally reached the moment to reap the rewards, and even managed to make everyone around you feel indebted to you. I really underestimated you, Purple Summers.”
Purple smiled, ignoring her, and walked past Violet Nelson.
Violet Nelson’s complexion grew even darker.
“I won’t let you be smug for long!” she hissed, her normally cold face cracking with hate and loathing!
Purple stopped in her tracks, turned around, and looked at Violet Nelson with interest.
“Why would you say that? Aren’t you the one who gave me the chance to be triumphant?” Purple approached Violet, a genial smile on her face, “Guess why I won the lawsuit?”
Her smiling face seemed malevolent to Violet, who instinctively took a half step back, warily watching Purple.
“I should thank you,” Purple said with a smile that reached her eyes, “The lawyer you hired, Mr. Rieste, is undefeated, renowned to the extent that even criminals fear him. Once it was heard that Rieste would help Edward Carter overturn the case, the actual perpetrator, fearing being uncovered, hurriedly dug up the buried head and stealthily reburied it in the villa in the western suburbs! So as to produce irrefutable evidence and prevent the case from being overturned!
I guess he must have played there with Edward Carter, mistaking it for Edward’s villa, not knowing it actually belonged to Edward’s sister and brother-in-law. Now instead of framing them, they have inadvertently helped me secure my position; I really should extend my gratitude to you all!”
Violet Nelson’s eyes widened in shock.
“Although I find you quite annoying…,” Purple whispered in her ear, “…you really can be considered my lucky star, Violet Nelson. Why don’t you calculate it for yourself, how many times you have inadvertently helped me by mistake?”
“You!…” Violet’s face turned red with anger.
Purple straightened up, her eyes sparkling with mirth and her tone mocking, “So, I advise you not to make trouble at the banquet because no matter how hard you try to help me, I simply have nothing with which to repay you.”
Violet Nelson was so furious she felt like spewing blood, wanting nothing more than to tear the arrogant Purple in front of her to pieces!
Yet at the same time, a part of Purple’s words had sunk in: it was indeed strange, could it be that no matter what she did, it always ended up benefiting someone else?
Violet Nelson no longer dared to act rashly.
…
At dinner, in an unprecedented move, the old lady had a servant prepare a bowl of bird’s nest porridge for Purple.
Purple was startled.
Not just Purple, but everyone at the dining table was taken aback. Christopher Simonson stared dumbfounded at his mother, suspicious that the old lady had come up with a new scheme to trouble people.
But there was no such scheme; the bird’s nest was sweet and tender, and the old lady was unusually kind and affable.
Having spoken with Old Mrs. Carter earlier today, and although she didn’t like Purple, being complimented on her own children’s cleverness and capability was always welcome, especially since Old Mrs. Carter mentioned that Purple’s eyes and brows somewhat resembled her own when she was younger, making the old lady even more delighted.
Christopher’s features were seventy percent similar to his mother’s, and Purple bore an exceptional resemblance to Christopher, meaning there was also a slight likeness to the old lady herself.
This was the magic of blood relation; no matter how harshly someone was reprimanded on any other day, bringing up such resemblances evoked a sense of closeness.
“Investigating cases is taxing; eat more nutritional products. Didn’t you like fresh ginseng a few days ago? I’ll have someone buy some more,” said the old lady kindly.

Purple quietly looked at her own arm, which had broken out in goosebumps.
