Forever Destined to the Silver Shadow-Chapter 160: Quarrel over berries

Celestia’s POV:

The next day, I woke up so early that I went out to the castle gardens even before the sun came up in the sky. Even though I slept for very little time today, I managed to sleep like a baby. And surprisingly, I didn’t have any strange dreams.

I was surprised to see that there was a huge number of Peonilla trees in the garden. I don’t remember seeing these many floral trees here.

As I went a little into the garden, I realized that there were a lot of Ruby berry trees too. This garden is filled with my favorite trees! Did Father Oberon plant them just for me?!

"Hello, Celestia," a male voice suddenly called me out and scared the life out of me.

I turned to my side and breathed out normally when I realized that it was just Laris. What is he doing here? It is not even sunrise yet!

Laris was chewing something in his mouth. I noticed that he had some Ruby berries in his hand. "Do you want some berries?" he offered.

I still remember the taste of those juicy Ruby berries. They are like the tiny droplets of heaven! I grabbed all of the berries that he had in his hand and began to munch them. They were sweet like always!

"Laris, why are you chilling out here? I told you to collect and refill the berries into the baskets that you ate from," I heard another male voice. It was Vivian, and he had a wooden basket in his hand that was filled with Ruby berries.

"Give me a break! I will refill the baskets," Laris fired back at him.

Why are they both quarreling like kids over berries? I remember them behaving like this even a thousand years ago. Laris is jovial, and Vivan constantly taunts Laris. Perhaps they are never going to change!

I moved closer to Vivian and grabbed the wooden basket from his sturdy tanned hands. Only when I looked up at him, I realized that he was so much taller than me. He is taller than everyone I know!

"You don’t mind sharing the berries, do you?" I questioned him.

"Of course not! We were actually collecting these berries to give them to you. You know, Edwin had already presented you the blood of a stag. So Laris and I thought of giving you something that you like."

I was so moved by their sweet gesture. "Thank you, my friends! You guys are the best."

"And I am sorry that the basket is only half full. Laris kept on eating the berries that I collected from the trees."

"No, I didn’t!" Laris yelled out and glanced to my side. "Celestia, he is lying, don’t believe him."

I began to chuckle as they both started to quarrel again. Even though their argument made no sense to me, it was funny to watch them fight.

"Laris, for the sake of Aiden, stop lying in front of Celestia! She is going to become the princess soon. She might reprimand you for stealing her berries."

I stopped chuckling as the gloominess conquered my heart again. My friends have already begun to see me like a princess?!

I quietly watched Vivian and Laris quarreling with each other. Their silly fight didn’t stop until Edwin appeared on the spot.

"Guys, what is wrong with you both?" Edwin shouted at them.

"It is all his fault," Vivan pointed his finger at Laris.

" No, it is his fault. He is always poking me," Laris defended himself.

Edwin got annoyed by their response. "Shame on both of you! You two are warriors! How can you both fight over a basket of berries like kids?"

"We are sorry," Laris and Vivian blurted out in unison.

"Fine! Now leave Celestia alone and get out of here," Edwin instructed them.

Since Edwin is the leader of the Fathomless warrior clan, the rest of the warriors are obligated to follow his orders. So Laris and Vivian bid goodbye to me and left the spot immediately.

Edwin then turned to me and said, "Don’t take their silly arguments too seriously, Celestia. They both have been tormenting all of us with their silliness for these many years."

I shook my head at his statement and confessed," I am jealous of them both!"

"What?" Edwin rolled his deep blue eyes. " You are jealous of those silly lunatics?"

"Yes, I am! At least they are always happy. But I never exactly knew what happiness is."

My eyes got teary as I continued to talk. " In my previous life, I thought that Silver Shadow was my happiness! But he turned out to be my biggest enemy. And even now, I am unable to find solace as my bag of burdens keep on increasing."

Edwin got confused. "What do you mean by your bag of burden is increasing?"

"I just don’t want to be the princess," I confessed to him. "Already everyone here is treating me like a deity! If I become a princess, then my responsibilities will increase even more. I am afraid that I won’t be able to do a good job."

Edwin was patiently listening to me. I was able to see his face clearly now as the sun slowly started to brighten up the garden.

"I always admired your humble attitude," Edwin gave me a dimpled smile. As soon as dimples formed on his cheeks, I thought of Silver Shadow. He gets dimples like this too!

God! Why am I daydreaming about him again? I focused my attention back on Edwin and tried hard to keep my mind blank.

"But Celestia, you need to know that none of us can do the things that you have done so far! You are a miracle! Still, you are worried that you won’t be able to handle a few more responsibilities?"

After I listened to Edwin, I realized what my people are expecting from me. They all expect me to handle all the responsibilities as I am the Dawn. But they are not aware of the struggles that I am going through!
