Forever Destined to the Silver Shadow-Chapter 147: Verdict of the Court...
Celestia’s POV:
I got up from the cold floor of the dungeon and strode closer to the iron bars of the cell. Even though I was not tied up with the dead rock chain, I felt fragile and shaky.
" Father," I breathed out and held the iron bars for support. "I know that you are here to give me my sentence. Before you do that, I would like to say something to you!"
"What is it, my child?" he asked and smiled at me.
"He will come here again to capture this castle! When he attacks for the second time, it will probably be worse than the first one. Please don’t underestimate him, father. He has the tendency not to stop until he gets what he wants."
He wasn’t appalled by my statements like I expected him to be. "You don’t have to worry about that, my child! I know how to save my people from that trickster."
How can my father save the castle if he attacks again? I wanted to alert him about this, but he seemed very repulsive. He probably won’t believe or listen to anything that comes out of my mouth.
Father Oberon opened the door of the iron cell and signaled me to come out. Why is he letting me out? I obeyed his commands and slowly stepped out of the cell.
It was difficult for me to walk on the ice-cold surface of the dungeon as I wasn’t even wearing my walking shoes. I stood in front of my father and looked up at him.
"My child, drink this," he said and offered me the goblet that he had in his hand. There was something white in it. Under the faint light from the fire torch that was on the wall behind me, it appeared like milk.
But when I got the goblet in my hand and smelled it, I realized that it is definitely not milk. Milk doesn’t smell this pungent! This must be the blood of some creature.
"Father, what is this?" I cried out. " This seems to be like blood! How can I drink this?"
"No, my child! It is not blood. This is the venom of a Nosferatu, and you have to drink this," he declared.
Immediately, my heart got filled with dread, and it spread all over my body. "Father, you can’t do this to me," I said out in a shaky voice. "I know that you were going to punish me, but this is very brutal!" 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Nosferatu are like Half-Vampires. They suffer from bloodlust, and they occasionally have to drink blood to survive. Compared to the normal Vampires, they are very few in number, and they live in the Shadow Realm now.
The legend says that Nosferatu were once creatures of light like Faes and Mages. They were equally powerful as Faes, but they were cowardly in nature.
During the Great War between the Light and Shadow creatures, the Nosferatu refused to participate and fight along with the side of light as they feared losing their lives. This angered the Angels so much that they cursed their whole kind to become Half-Vampires.
Nosferatu might be less dangerous than the actual Vampires as they don’t hunt and feed on prey as the normal Vampires do. But their Venom is very deadly! When someone drinks the Venom of Nosferatu, they perish immediately.
I glanced at my father miserably. At least he could have given the Venom of a normal Vampire. I might get transformed into a Vampire, but I would have been alive!
He can’t do this to me! I don’t deserve to die. When I thought that I was getting sentenced, I expected him to lock me up in the dungeon for my eternity. But he wants me dead?!!
"Celestia," he mumbled. "I know that this is difficult for you! But this verdict was made by the court members. You have to accept the verdict of the people and drink this Venom!"
My eyes began to burn as I started to sob. "Father, please! I don’t want to die." Those words felt strange to me as they came out of my mouth.
I am Dawn! I have Angelic powers in me, and I am immortal. Never once in my life did I worry about death.
"Listen to me, Celestia! Since you have the power of an Angel in you, if you drink this venom, you won’t perish! Nothing can be able to destroy an Angel. Did you forget about that?"
I breathed out in relief immediately. When did I get so dim-witted? It is a well-known fact that Angels are invincible eternal beings. So this venom won’t do anything to me.
"But Father, if this venom won’t do anything to me, then why should I have to drink this? " I questioned him.
"When did I say that this venom would do nothing to you?" I shuddered a little as he raised his voice and said. "This Venom will mix with your blood, and you will turn into a Half Vampire."
So this is my sentence! I am going to become a Half Vampire for all the sins I committed.
"Okay, father," I blurted out. "I accept the verdict of my people!"
Then I looked down at the cup of the white liquid. My heartbeat got heavy as I moved the cup close to my lips. The pungent aroma of the Venom was nauseating me. I really don’t want to drink this!
But I have no other choice than this! I have to accept the verdict of the court. I let them all down, and this is my penance for that.
With much difficulty, I sipped the venom from the goblet. It tasted a thousand times worse than the firewater!
As soon as I swallowed the liquid down my throat, it began to burn. Did I drink fire?! I pulled myself together and emptied the goblet with much difficulty.
Then my insides began to burn as the venom started to spread all over my body. This is death! I don’t think that real death can be any different than this.
