Chapter 128: Accept the Sour berries...

Celestia’s POV:

Two days went by. Still, they refused to free me from the chains, no matter how much I begged them. They know what will happen if they release me. I would strike at all of them and rescue Theo!

It is so silly of me to plead with them to release me. But I have to get out of these chains for the sake of Theo. He can’t be chained down there forever!

How can I convince them? I stood next to the windows and admired the landscape. During this season, the mountains get capped with snow. It was such an adorable sight to see the Northern mountains from this distance.

How nice would it be to go there and touch the snow? Laris told me that juicy ruby berries are prevalent in this season. I so wanted to visit the Northern mountains!

I wish that things were peaceful around me. I want to roam around the lands freely like I used to do in the past. I want peace more than anything else.

I got furious at my father again. He is the reason for all of my troubles. Yesterday, he admitted to me that he is partial. And he has no remorse for it?

He even endorsed his opinion by saying that Faes are superior beings. It’s no wonder why all the Lowlanders happily accepted Theo as their King.

Even though I was imprisoned within these four walls, my friends came here to give me company. This morning Laris came to my room and entertained me with his jokes and funny speeches.

I was mad at Laris, but still, I wasn’t able to restrain myself from laughing at his jokes. He is such a jovial person! How is he cheerful all the time?

After Laris, Edwin arrived. He didn’t speak much to me the whole time while he was in my room. Maybe he is feeling guilty for lying and backstabbing me. At least he had the heart to realize that what he did to me was wrong, unlike Vivian.

He continually defended his actions and justified that whatever they did was to protect me. I don’t understand how this is going to save me! How can locking up someone within the four walls help them?

It was afternoon time. Who is going to come to my room now? I hope that it is not Vivian again. I am not in the mood to argue with him. I might be imprisoned here; it doesn’t mean that they can take away my inner peace too.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was relieved when Ember got into my room with a food plate and a goblet. "I have bought you Salmonberries and Honey milk," she announced.
I grunted immediately. " Why would she bring me Salmonberries? I want Ruby berries," I cried out.
"I am sorry, but I thought you liked Salmonberries too," she replied.
"No, I don’t like Salmonberries! They are sour and have no taste in them."
Ember sighed and placed the food plate on the table that was near the window. "Listen to me, Celestia. Sometimes in life, all we get is sour berries. We have to accept it and eat them to fill our stomachs. If we all keep on longing for the forbidden fruit that is not meant to be eaten, and not eat the berries we get, then we will perish due to hunger."
I realized what she was referring to with the help of metaphors. "Are you saying that Silver Shadow is the forbidden fruit?"
He nodded her head and said, "Yes."
"Come on, Ember. A few weeks ago, you told me openly that Silver Shadow is a better person than King Oberon. I remember you pledging your allegiance to him in the stream bank. Now you again sided with King Oberon? He is the one who refused to aid your kind when the Vampires attacked your lands. How could you side with him again?"
I wanted to ask her those questions ever since I saw her. Honestly, I was surprised that she is even back here. Isn’t she a little bothered by the way Father Oberon treats the Lowlanders? 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"Celestia," she breathed out and tugged her curly long Raven hair behind her ear. "King Oberon might be partial, but at least he didn’t create chaos in the lands on purpose and tried to rule them."
This is my mistake! I told her about this. " Silver Shadow had no other choice than that. He had to convince the people that he could be their savior. That is why he had to trick! The side of light abandoned him entirely, so he chose the dark side to accomplish his goals. Now tell me, Ember. Who is the reason why Silver Shadow was abandoned?"
Ember gaped at my explanation and said, "Do you think that if you don’t have something, it is okay to steal?"
She asked me only one question and tied up my tongue with it! Why did I never think of this issue from that angle? But everyone has different ways of perceiving things. Ember sees it as a hoax, and I believe it is okay to make little sacrifices for the greater good.
"The Mages have a strong ruler now," I spoke out after a minute of silence. "They are no more dependent on the partial king Oberon to lead them in battles. I still don’t support Silver Shadow’s pathways and his use of Dark arts. His motives are for the welfare of the Lowlanders. You can’t deny that, can you?"
Ember still didn’t seem to be agreeing with me. She watched me oddly for a moment and commented, " If you were not in love with Silver Shadow, will you be supporting his actions?"
She tied up my tongue again. If Theo were not my lover, then I probably would not have understood him the way I do now. We both would have been mortal enemies!
"Celestia, just because you are in love with someone doesn’t mean that you have to support them even if they are wrong. You are the Dawn, and you should always endorse the side of light."
