Chapter 341: Chapter 341: Drunk?

Liam Shaw had just walked out when he happened to run into Edward Selwyn coming from the opposite direction.

"What happened? You don’t look too good."

While speaking, he glanced in the direction of the restroom, a flicker of confusion crossing the bottom of his eyes.

Liam Shaw immediately waved his hand and said, "It’s nothing, I just drank too much. Let’s hurry over, we shouldn’t keep the guests waiting."

Edward Selwyn: "..."

If he remembered correctly, he was a guest too, right?

There was absolutely no need for him to host the guests.

"You’re not hiding something from me, are you?" Edward Selwyn asked suspiciously.

Liam Shaw quickly denied: "Of course not! Let’s go, I heard Grandfather say that Minister Ray will be coming soon."

Edward Selwyn cast a curious glance toward the restroom behind him, but seeing nothing, he eventually put the matter out of his mind.

Inside the restroom, Adrian Holt was holding Serena Summers’s slender and soft waist, longing to continue their previous kiss.

However, just as he leaned in, Serena Summers turned her head to dodge.

"Didn’t you say you had locked the door earlier?"

Serena’s cheeks were flushed, her mind full of the scene of being caught kissing Adrian Holt.

Every time she thought about it, she wished she could find a crack in the floor to crawl into.

Guessing what was on Serena’s mind, Adrian Holt chuckled lightly and explained, "That was an accident; there’s definitely no one coming now."

Serena: "..."

I don’t believe you!

"All right, time to go out. There are lots of guests waiting out there, and we need to cut the cake later."

Serena placed her hands on the man’s shoulders and steadied herself as she hopped down from the washstand.

Adrian Holt, afraid she might fall, quickly grabbed her waist, "Be careful, you’re still wearing high heels and yet daring to jump down like that."

"Isn’t that because you’re here!" Serena said nonchalantly, waving her hand, her dimples lightly appearing on both sides of her cheeks. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

Adrian Holt felt his heart pierced by something, suddenly becoming soft.

He curved his lips into a smile, dropped a kiss on the corner of Serena’s lips, and then took her hand as they left the restroom.

Minister Ray had already arrived and was currently in the hall chatting with Master Shaw.

The two had never met before, but they seemed to hit it off instantly.

"Master Shaw, you’re really blessed. The Young Madam really did me a huge favor this time."

"It’s what she should do. Our Serena is inexperienced, how could she make demands to you!" Although Master Shaw spoke these words, the smile on his face couldn’t be hidden.

Minister Ray waved his hand and said, "Master Shaw, you’re too modest. It’s right for her to make demands, and besides, without her, we wouldn’t have known more about that illegal organization."

Hearing Minister Ray mention the organization, a glint of sharpness flashed in Master Shaw’s eyes.

He asked, "Has the organization been found yet? If they continue to run amok, there will surely be more victims."

Minister Ray sighed deeply, "It’s not that simple. If they’ve been able to hide within Corland’s borders for so many years, it shows they’re deeply entrenched."

Now, they’ve even established connections with Country C.

Whether or not we can catch those people is another matter.

Noticing the change in Minister Ray’s expression, Master Shaw nodded silently and didn’t continue to inquire further.

"Minister Ray, you’re so busy and yet you found the time to come here?"

Serena emerged from the restroom and spotted Minister Ray’s figure.

She walked over holding Adrian Holt’s hand, a polite, gentle smile on her lips.

As for the person she was holding hands with, his expression was somewhat dark.

Looking unsatisfied and resentful, his eyes were full of grievance as he looked at Serena.

Serena Summers quietly pinched the center of his palm, silently comforting him.

Upon seeing Serena Summers, Minister Ray immediately revealed a smile, "I heard it’s your birthday today, so I took the opportunity to come and see you."

"Thank you for making the trip."

"It’s no trouble at all; it’s the least I could do. You’ve helped me a lot, and today I’m here not just on my own behalf, but representing our entire department."

The conversation between the two left Master Shaw and Liam Shaw completely puzzled.

But both of them were savvy enough not to ask any questions.

Minister Ray had a lot of work to attend to and therefore left shortly after.

After he left, Master Shaw looked at Serena Summers with confusion: "When Minister Ray said he’s here on behalf of the whole department to offer his congratulations, what did he mean?"

"I made a small deal with Minister Ray. Perhaps he holds me in high regard, that’s why he said that," Serena Summers said with a smile.

It wasn’t until 2 o’clock in the early morning that the guests gradually all left.

Master Shaw, leaning on his cane and fighting off sleepiness, saw off the last guest.

Once it was just the family members left, Master Shaw’s barely open eyelids instantly drooped down.

"I can’t take it anymore, I’m absolutely beat! You young folks really can stay up. I must go rest now."

The butler sighed helplessly, "Old Master, who was it that said they had plenty of energy before?"

As early as 10 o’clock in the evening, the butler had advised Master Shaw to go up and rest.

Because every day, that was the time Master Shaw would go to sleep.

But today for some reason, he just wouldn’t go upstairs.

He said it was a good day and he was very happy, insisting on sitting downstairs until the very end.

Now he’s this tired, and it’s unclear what he was aiming for.

While yawning, Master Shaw complained, "I do have energy, but it also depends on whom you compare me with. I can’t keep up with Liam and Lucas."

He was clearly competing with Old Master Ryan and Old Master Lawrence. Neither wanted to leave first, so he didn’t want to be the one to give in.

At such an old age, his competitive spirit was still so fierce.

Liam Shaw and Adrian Holt exchanged a look, their eyes brimming with helplessness.

After the old master left, Adrian Holt, belatedly aware, looked around, "Where’s Serena?"

Liam Shaw was taken aback, "She seemed to be drinking with her group of girlfriends just now, go check the dessert area."

Adrian Holt strode confidently towards the dessert area, "Serena? Serena Summers?"

In a sofa in the dessert area, Serena Summers was sitting up straight, unnaturally still.

With her head lowered, her hands rested on her thighs; one clutching her dress hem and the other holding a wine glass.

In the clear glass was a sip of red wine left unfinished.

Her slightly curled long hair draped over her shoulders, covering most of her face, so Adrian Holt couldn’t clearly see her expression at first.

It wasn’t until he got closer that he noticed the girl’s eyes were slightly squinted, filled with a misty drunkenness.

Adrian Holt squatted down in front of her, leaning in close to her face, trying to get a clear look at her current state.

"Serena?"

He called her name again, yet Serena Summers showed no reaction.

Adrian Holt couldn’t help but laugh softly, extending his well-defined fingers to lift Serena Summers’ chin gently, leaning closer.

"Are you drunk?"

Only then did Serena Summers react, lifting her heavy-lidded eyes to look at the man in front of her.

"I’m not drunk," she pouted in dissatisfaction.

"Little drunkard, still won’t admit it," Adrian Holt raised his hand to ruffle her hair, the smile deepening in his eyes, "Only those who are drunk would say they’re not."
