Chapter 317: Chapter 317: I’m So Scared

In the operating room, apart from the doctors and nurses, there were also two bodyguards responsible for the close protection of the CEO from Country C.

They stood to the side, watching Serena Summers’ every move attentively, not daring to slack off for a moment.

Serena handled the scalpel with proficient movements, smooth as flowing water, completely unaffected.

To ensure the surgery proceeded more smoothly, Serena had specially administered an injection to the CEO before the operation.

But the other doctors and nurses couldn’t maintain quite the same composure, occasionally stealing glances.

The expressions of those two bodyguards were really terrifying, especially their eyes, filled with a gloomy and ferocious intensity.

Being watched by those eyes, everyone felt chills run down their spines, with goosebumps all over their bodies.

"Focus."

Serena’s cool voice sounded, startling several people into immediacy, quickly gathering their thoughts and concentrating on the operating table.

Fortunately, about four hours later, the surgery finally ended.

Everyone at last revealed expressions of joy, the difficulty of this operation was simply astronomical.

They were among the top doctors and nurses in the hospital and had participated in many surgeries, big and small, but none had ever been as heart-stopping as today’s.

"First, move the patient to the observation room," Serena’s voice was as calm and cold as usual, with a hint of huskiness.

Despite her young age, she gave off an indescribable sense of composure and chill, compelling an involuntary desire to submit.

Upon hearing her, everyone hurriedly began to tidy up the tools, preparing to push the CEO into the observation room.

Outside the operating room, Minister Ray paced back and forth in the corridor, hands behind his back, glancing at the door from time to time.

Although he hadn’t said a word, his nervous emotions were written all over his face.

By comparison, Dean Carter was much calmer.

He reassured, "Minister Ray, don’t worry, I have confidence in Serena’s medical skills."

"This is no minor surgery, it also involves our relations with Country C, it’s of great significance," Minister Ray’s expression was solemn.

Dean Carter sighed deeply, silently praying that the surgery would proceed smoothly.

As for Adrian Holt, he leaned against the corridor wall without uttering a word, his gaze lowered, his expression inscrutable.

Soon, the door to the operating room was pushed open from the inside, with Serena Summers walking out first.

Dean Carter walked over immediately, "How did it go?"

"The surgery was successful, but he needs further observation," Serena removed her mask, looking towards Minister Ray, "Can you fulfill your promise now?"

"Serena, my child, what’s the rush? Can Minister Ray go back on his word?"

Minister Ray smiled warmly, gesturing with his hand, "No matter. Miss Summers, now you can state your conditions."

Serena’s facial expression remained composed, revealing no emotions.

Her red lips parted to speak, but suddenly her expression turned sharp, and her gaze became piercing as she looked towards the end of the corridor.

Before anyone else could react, she took something out of her pocket and swung it toward the corner of the corridor.

Streaks of silver light flashed by, carrying a burst of gusting wind as they raced through the air.

Then, screams of pain and the dull sound of bodies hitting the floor echoed abruptly.

A group of people rushed over quickly, only to see four or five young men lying on the ground.

Silver needles were embedded in their foreheads, and they lay on the ground moaning in pain, a sorry sight to see.

The silver needles swayed left and right with their movements, gleaming with a cold chill under the light.

Serena Summers took the lead and approached the group, grabbing the collar of one of them and demanding harshly, "Speak up, who are you? Why are you surveilling us?"

The young man yanked up by Serena felt groggy and in unbearable pain throughout his body.

When they were discovered, he had intended to hide with his brothers, but just at the critical moment, it felt like something had pierced his forehead.

In that instant, he felt weakness all over and fell to the ground.

All his innards felt as though they were being mercilessly ground into minced meat in a meat grinder, causing so much pain he could hardly breathe.

When he saw Serena’s face, he knew he was done for.

He struggled to open his mouth, trying to speak in his defense but found he didn’t even have the strength to utter a syllable.

What on earth did Serena do to them?

Damn it!

Serena’s lips curled slightly, her hand loosening its grip on the man’s collar before she stood up, brushed off her hands, and bluntly stated, "Minister Ray, he says he was sent by the enemies of the Corlish CEO, with plans to assassinate the CEO."

Minister Ray: "..."

Dean Carter: "..."

Wait, the guy hasn’t even spoken—how did she figure that out?

"Oh, I saw it in his eyes, he wanted to kill me," Serena explained with a laugh, tilting her chin up.

Minister Ray glanced at the person lying on the ground, unable to help asking her, "Oh? They wanted to kill you meaning they wanted to kill the CEO? Haven’t you made any enemies yourself out there?"

With her big innocent eyes blinking and her brows and eyes smiling, Serena said, "Enemies? How could I, a kind and adorable girl, make any enemies? The only thing that could make people hate me is my medical skill. But recently, I’ve only done this one surgery."

Minister Ray was amused by her quirky demeanor, but his expression grew solemn as he took a deep look at the people lying on the ground.

If they truly were sent to assassinate the Corlish CEO, then this matter was far from trivial.

Initially, to avoid unnecessary trouble, the fact that the Corlish CEO was receiving treatment in this hospital was kept strictly confidential; in theory, it should not have been known to outsiders.

Minister Ray fell into deep thought and immediately made a phone call, ordering his subordinates to come over.

Serena bent her leg and kicked one of the men, a cold glint flickering in her eyes.

"Minister Ray, these people don’t look much like Corlish; they look more like Corlanders," she said.

The nation of Corland is located on an island on the eastern coast of the Atlantic, about half the globe away from Corland, thus they have distinct facial features.

However, these men were obviously Corlanders.

And that made the situation much more serious.

The Corlish CEO, while in Corland, was nearly assassinated by several Corlanders...

Minister Ray’s expression darkened, and as soon as his subordinates arrived with others, he immediately ordered, "Take these people away for a thorough interrogation."

Serena stepped forward and removed the acupuncture needles one by one.

Soon, the men’s strength returned to normal and they began to struggle vehemently.

Looking at Serena resentfully, they threatened through gritted teeth, "You just wait, I won’t let you off!"

"Wow, I’m so scared!"

Serena buried her face in Adrian Holt’s chest, pretending to be frightened.

Adrian Holt caught off guard by her embrace, his lips slightly curved up as he raised his arm and gently caressed her hair, his deep eyes filled with tender indulgence.

"Don’t be afraid, I’m here."
