Chapter 769: Chapter 782: The Gift

"Mu Xingfeng, why don’t we get a divided hot pot for our home next time," An Ran said as she refilled the water and added the base ingredients, negotiating with Mu Xingfeng.

"No need, I prefer the clear broth," Mu Xingfeng brought out the washed vegetables and placed them on the table.

"Is it enough? Should we add a bit more?" An Ran asked as she mixed a small dish of seasoning for him, adding chili as she spoke.

Mu Xingfeng took the seasoning and small bowl from her hand, "I’ll do it myself."

Actually, Mu Xingfeng didn’t particularly like hot pot. Fishing out a bit of food from the boiling soup and waiting for it to cool down before eating it was troublesome.

But he noticed that An Ran had a special fondness for hot pot, which was probably a woman’s nature.

Shopping, eating hot pot, both had something in common – enjoying picking things out of a variety of colorful options that satisfied them.

"Honey, I took a week off after this closed training. We’ll go back to the Imperial City on the 27th, and our engagement ceremony will be on the 29th. Although the timeline is a bit tight, Mom will have everything prepared. The only thing is that my elder sister’s wedding is on the 1st, and we’ll have to return to Nan’an on the 3rd. It might be a bit tiring," Mu Xingfeng said.

This was something that Mu Xingfeng and An Ran had discussed, having an engagement ceremony for An Ran before his elder sister’s wedding, to make their relationship public.

He didn’t care much about these formalities, but he didn’t want to wrong his girl.

"Remember to ask for leave on the 26th. By the way, didn’t you say you wanted Xiao Xiao to attend our engagement? Make sure she takes leave too, so we can all leave together on the 27th."

An Ran listened to Mu Xingfeng’s arrangements, absent-mindedly stirring the vegetables in her bowl. Finally, she said, "Mu Xingfeng, there’s no need to go to all this trouble. I don’t care if others know I’m your wife. As long as I have a place in your heart, that’s enough. I don’t want you to be too rushed or tired."

"Silly girl, you might not care, but I do. I want the whole world to know that An Ran is my wife. Don’t worry, everything at home will be arranged by my parents. We just need to show up. I’ll be back on the 26th, and we’ll go straight to the airport on the morning of the 27th," Mu Xingfeng said with a smile.

Mu Xingfeng smiled, his little sweetheart was always so understanding, touching his heart yet making him feel tenderly protective.

"Oh, by the way, Mu Xingfeng, I went to the mall today and bought gifts for the family. Could you help me see if they’re good? If not, I’ll choose again," An Ran said.

"Gifts?" A glint of surprise flashed in Mu Xingfeng’s eyes. She said gifts for the family, meaning for the Mu family. The fact that she considered his family as their shared one made him happier than anything else. Mu Xingfeng nodded and gave a warm agreement.

After eating, An Ran took her backpack, pulling out the gifts one by one.

"Last time you said Grandpa enjoys calligraphy, so I bought him a large blue bamboo. I’m not sure if he’ll like it," An Ran said, taking out a beautifully wrapped small box.

"Grandma’s scarf, in tangerine red," she added, playfully winking.

"A brooch for Aunt He, a tie for Uncle Mu, and lastly, for my dear husband," An Ran said, taking out a pair of cufflinks. Mu Xingfeng rarely wore formal attire, but whenever he did, it always left an impression on her.

Especially the outfit he wore when he confessed his love to her last time, it was so eye-catching. So when she saw these cufflinks, she bought them right away.

This trip to the Imperial City would surely require formal wear, making them perfect to wear.
