Chapter 399: Chapter 399 - Stamina Wins Wars

Countless vines covered in blooming flowers shot out and bound Lyrassa in place. Each time a thunderous explosion roared from inside the domain, an equally brutal surge of energy slammed into the area outside.

Yet Lyrassa remained standing.

Her body was rigid and unmoving. Only the flowers around her continued to grow at a frantic pace. Anyone standing nearby could feel how dense and heavy the energy in that place had become.

Lyrassa closed her eyes, occasionally letting out a low groan of pain. At times, her body looked as if it were about to be violently thrown away. But no matter how strong the impact was, thousands of vines burst from the ground and held her firmly in place.

What made it even worse was this.

There was no one who could support her here.

No one could heal her. No one could ease the burden she was carrying.

On the other side, lightning strikes and massive explosions continued relentlessly, pounding the land around them. The shockwaves tore through the forest again and again.

The once dense woodland had already begun to thin. The area around them was turning into an open field.

If this continued, the forest on this island would be completely flattened.

The question now was simple.

Would Lyrassa endure until the enemy fell, or would she break first?

**

Hundreds of lightning bolts slammed down violently across the area. A grim reaper-like shadow hovered behind Atlas as impact after impact exploded with deafening force.

Atlas moved at blinding speed, swinging his spear in wide, devastating arcs. Each slash created a violent lightning explosion, and every detonation made the surrounding area crumble and shatter even further.

Both of them were now standing on ground that was constantly collapsing beneath their feet. The land around them kept breaking apart, making it feel as if they were slowly sinking into the destruction they themselves created.

A heavy slash was met with a hard block. Another explosion followed. It was blocked again. Neither of them suffered any visible damage from the exchange.

Atlas leapt backward, creating distance. Morvain did the same.

They ran toward a more open area and stopped, facing each other from a short distance away, both settling into their respective attacking stances.

Atlas could feel his stamina and mana being drained rapidly. Even now, it was still unclear how long this endless battle could continue.

But at this point, Atlas had begun to understand how all of this worked.

Through the connection he shared with Lyrassa, he could sense what was happening outside.

She was enduring all the damage from Morvain’s attacks in this battle.

Even so, Atlas could not let that show on his face. Any sign of weakness would give his enemy an opening, a clue on how to exploit it.

"What did you sacrifice for this fight, Morvain?" Atlas said firmly.

"What do you mean, sacrifice?" Morvain snapped back. "I am using my mighty ability to defeat you. You will lose soon. You will run out of resources. You will run out of stamina, become exhausted, and then you will fall."

His words sounded confident, but his body told a different story. Morvain was clearly breathing hard, his chest rising and falling rapidly. Sweat drenched him, dripping heavily to the ground. He did not seem to realize it, but he had already exposed his own weakness.

"I do not see it that way," Atlas replied with a thin smirk.

He reached into his inventory and pulled something out, holding it calmly in his palm. A small capsule.

Without hesitation, Atlas placed it into his mouth and swallowed it.

A relaxed smile appeared on his face.

It was a Rank A item. A Stamina Recovery Elixir. Fortunately, Atlas had not wasted these items carelessly. Moments like this were exactly why he had saved them.

He spun his spear once more as stamina surged back into his body. Strength flowed through him, and he could feel that he was ready to fight at the same level as before.

His mana would still take time to recover, but it was enough. More than enough to continue clashing with the lord standing before him.

Morvain stared at him, his expression changing the instant he understood what had happened.

"Oh? Morvain," Atlas said lightly. "Why do you look so panicked? Is something wrong?"

"You!" Morvain roared, his voice shaking with fury. "You damn bastard! Do you think this changes anything? I will crush you! I will tear you apart, break you piece by piece, and make you regret ever standing here!"

Atlas’s smile did not fade.

If Morvain truly possessed three SS Rank abilities, then Atlas had something else entirely. An SSS Rank ability that granted him access to countless powerful items.

Consider what he had consumed just one small advantage. One that could change the entire battle.

Atlas lowered his stance and leveled his spear forward.

"So," he said calmly, "shall we continue? You are not tired yet, are you?"

Morvain roared in fury, his shout brutal and feral. His body flushed deep red as it began to swell in size. Muscles bulked unnaturally, veins standing out as his frame grew larger. His eyes turned fully crimson, burning with rage.

They clashed again in the next instant.

Blow after blow collided at terrifying speed. The impacts came so fast that the air itself seemed to shudder.

They stood almost in one place, trading strikes endlessly, neither of them showing even the slightest wound. At times, they leapt to the side, adjusting their positions to keep the fight flowing and maintain their rhythm.

Atlas kept charging in from different angles, attacking without pause. Whenever his mana recovered enough, he unleashed hundreds of lightning bolts into the sky, calling them down in violent storms that crashed toward his enemy.

The battle dragged on.

Atlas clenched his teeth. He knew that every hit he took was also being transferred to Lyrassa.

This had to end. It had to end now.

Then, after what felt like an endless exchange, the final strike happened.

Atlas thrust forward.

The Wavebreaker Spear pierced straight through Morvain’s chest, clean and precise.

For a brief moment, everything went still.

Golden lightning continued to crackle and roar around them, filling the air with light and thunder. The spear was clearly lodged through Morvain’s body.

Yet Morvain remained standing.

His eyes were wide, empty, unfocused.

"How can you endure all of this," he muttered weakly, "without sacrificing anything..."

"Someone who does not value the lives of their subordinates will never understand," Atlas replied calmly. "Not even if I explain it to you."

Atlas pulled his spear back in a single sharp motion.

Morvain swayed for a moment, still standing.

Then a clean slash followed.

The man’s eyes widened in shock as his head was severed from his body. It flew through the air, hit the ground, and rolled to a stop.

His body remained standing for a brief second longer, headless and silent, before finally beginning to fall.

The Wavebreaker Spear vanished from Atlas’s grasp as a chain of system messages appeared before his eyes.

At the same time, the massive domain that had imprisoned them began to crack and shatter, breaking apart piece by piece.

In the end, Morvain’s defeat came down to one thing.

He lost the battle of stamina and mana.

He could no longer continue fighting, while Atlas still could.

That was the deciding factor.

But...

What about Lyrassa?

Was she alright?
