Flip the Coin [BL]-Chapter 318. Coming for you
Henry’s POV
"Ready?" The instructor asked me.
I waved at him, clad in my black training clothes, as the thick metal door in front of me opened.
"THE SUBJECTS WILL BE RELEASED!" The speaker announced, and another door in the big room I had entered opened.
In front of me was a parkour course, resembling the sports ed class of a high school.
With the exception of the pack of wolves that had been let out, their eyes targeting me with frenzy, their muzzles full of white foam.
They circled me; if I used my power, they would already be dead.
But where the hell would the fun be in that?
A wolf at the end of the pack attacked me, and I grabbed the snout that had opened dangerously, ripping its lower and upper jaw apart, only hearing a slight wince.
I threw the corpse to the other end of the room, looking at the rest of the pack.
If they weren’t full of drugs, they would have already retreated at the demonstration of power.
But they are full of drugs, and I am filled with aggression, so here we are.
The next time, two attacked me at once, making it a bit more interesting.
I crouched down, grabbing both by the throats, crushing them, blood splattering on me without stopping.
I wiped the blood from my face, licking my hand in hopes that a bit of the drug in their blood would be transferred to me. I would even take more anger and fury, more bloodthirst, if it would make my thoughts stop, the longing stop, even if it was only for a moment.
The rest of the pack had had it with me, all of them attacking at once.
More blood, and this time it was accompanied by pain.
I had learned something about myself in the year Kenny had disappeared. I am not only a sucker for pleasure and a sucker for Kenny dominating me, but I am also a sucker for pain.
When you can’t get high from drugs, not from alcohol, and not from the blood of rabid wolves, then the body’s own relief system does the job, and that system only works with shock or pain.
Part of my back ripped open, as did my chest and stomach, and a muzzle gnawed at my leg as I pushed my fists through furry stomachs, throats, and ribs, grabbing organs and pulling them out as if they were candies packed into a sack of flesh.
"Use your power, Henry." Dr. Lawrence’s hesitant yet annoyed voice sounded over the speaker, but I did what I always did since I was introduced to this form of ’training’—I tried to prolong it as much as possible.
I didn’t answer her, thrilled by the warm feeling of the blood and the enticingly beautiful red color and the endorphins I got flooded with—for killing and for bleeding myself. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
At first, I was uninterested when they asked me if I wanted hands-on practice, along with the others who had signed their lives away to the center, though I naturally didn’t sign anything.
But the moment I heard I could kill something, I was all in.
They think they can use me and test me, but in the end, it is me testing what they can come up with, using them to get relief from the longing that is hollowing me out and eating me away, crushing my soul and making me thirst for the time when I could get my hands on something that would let me forget.
Enough blood had entered my mouth in the meanwhile, even without me trying; sadly, whatever they gave them was even less effective than the last time.
I stood up, looking at the corpses—ripped apart, bloody, dead dogs, just like I was.
"Do you want to try something else, something bigger?" The instructor asked through the speaker on the thick metal door.
I stroked my wet hair back and chuckled, motioning for them to keep going.
"TEST SUBJECTS 2213 ENTERING!" Another voice announced, and another door opened.
This time it was a damn tiger—no idea where they got it from, from the freaking zoo?
Not bad.
The last time I saw one face-to-face was through bars, on a family trip.
Wouldn’t it be exhilarating if this was the same one?
This one didn’t have any foam coming from its mouth, yet its eyes were... red.
I froze, looking into the predator entering, with only two thoughts roaming through my head.
’How dare that animal carry the same eye color as him?’
’How could I ever kill something with such beautiful eyes?’
I stood there, waiting for it to attack when the tiger sat down, not making any attempts to kill me at all; instead, it groomed its paw proudly.
I walked to the tiger and saw it eyeing me again, but it did not react otherwise when I placed my hand on top of its head.
"Good boy." I patted him, scratching his ear, my voice hoarse; it felt like forever since I had spoken.
"Did you give him Kenny’s blood?" I looked back to the thick metal door at the instructor.
"NO!" He yelled, panicked.
I chuckled.
Then why was the pack of wolves called ’Subjects’ and the tiger was called ’Test Subject’?
I looked at the window at the top of the wall, my gaze piercing into Dr. Lawrence behind the glass.
She cleared her throat and spoke through the speaker,
"We have no access to Kenny’s blood. And as you know, his blood doesn’t work..." She didn’t finish, but I knew what she meant—only his fresh blood would change whoever ingested it; even if they had taken more of his blood and stored it somewhere, it wouldn’t be different from normal blood.
I teleported back to my room, splattering red everywhere upon arriving. Then I teleported back, my phone now with me.
I dialed Ethan’s number.
"I have someone here that needs protection, food, and entertainment." Speaking felt smoother; I still didn’t like to do it when the person in question had no chance to hear it.
"Sure, I will come get them."
"Bring an animal transporter."
"...What animal are we talking about?"
"A red-eyed tiger." I said, looking down at the blood that was smeared on the tiger’s fur, on his head and ear, where I had touched him.
"...Henry—" Dr. Lawrence’s voice sounded, but she was silenced the moment I looked up.
I heard Ethan curse a few times on the other side of the line before he finally said he needed half an hour to arrive, hanging up on me when he finished speaking.
"If the tiger is harmed, you will be harmed." I announced to whoever felt addressed.
Teleporting back into my room, I threw the phone on my bed and turned on the shower without changing out of my clothes.
I let the scalding water run over my clothes, seeping into my wounds that were already in the midst of closing, washing the red away.
When it was all gone, I went outside and changed into another black training suit, black shoes, and took a seat on the unused bed with the stack of papers.
Taking a new one, I wrote the same letters, word, name when the black watch around my wrist vibrated, accompanied by a shrill sound.
My breath was taken away; my hands shook, the adrenaline paralyzing me, my head thrumming, my heart stuttering as I was unable to believe—the hope, the longing striking me full force, knocking life back into me.
It was time—so much sooner than I had anticipated it to be.
I sprang up, began to let the acid spread when I had to stop—when I was struck by another kind of force.
A force bringing memories and impressions with it.
I saw and felt myself suddenly appearing inside the crystalline world; I saw and felt Kenny in my arms, how I behaved like a brat, how he consoled me, how I met the commander in person, how I got chicken wings, how Kenny suddenly bled after closing his eyes, how he wanted a kiss, how I gave him what he wanted and he came while in my arms, the promise he made after waking up from his vision, how we walked forward, dumb questions about marriage, how I encouraged him to kill his counterpart, and how I watched under devastation as he did do it, as he killed Kenny2.
How I had no other choice but to let him do it, as anyone but him killing his counterpart after the link had been established could destroy his mind more than if he did it himself.
We had seen it with Henrietta, but she was crazy all along.
But we also saw it with Baggy Jeans; Red Hair also didn’t seem as normal before her disappearance.
I had to let him do it no matter what it did to him or did to me—I couldn’t risk anything with how fragile his psyche already was.
I saw and felt how I carried him as he acted spoiled, how we found survivors, how he conjured up the letters, and how emotionally he reacted to the letter he received, tucking it to his heart.
The jealousy that was devouring me because of that piece of paper—more than the deaths of the people we found or the survivors who couldn’t speak ever could.
How the commander finally showed himself to be of use, as he informed me of something to quell my jealousy, something good and something spicy my master had given me while I slept.
But then Kenny nearly killed himself and me along with him by giving me the shock of my life and bringing me back to the scene of the morgue again, as he touched a corpse to flip the coin instead of the perfect living woman that was holding the corpse.
I saw and felt how I found my counterpart; he found his, how we all walked to the border of the other world and beyond, and how his words made me miss my Past-Kenny, again giving me a purpose to come back into my own timeline.
I saw and felt how the portal opened.
I saw and felt our last exchange.
I saw and felt him in my arms; heard him saying that he can’t wait to see me.
I also... FUCK!
I opened my eyes, which I had closed at some point, the memories integrating themselves into my body as I let the acid spread through my veins, the destination clear in my head.
I am also dying to see you.
I am coming to you, my best friend, my master, my god, my Kenny.
I am coming for you, my love.
