Flip the Coin [BL]-Chapter 264. Second Cake
"WHAT THE HELL?" I yelled after the old mummy, but she was long gone.
Henry hugged me from behind to hold me back from going after her for a scream duel.
I could feel his chest tremble with laughter and turned my head to look at him in disbelief.
That hag destroyed my cake, and you dare to laugh?
A bodyguard came back, holding something in his hand as he stepped over the cake, which didn’t change the fact that he had already trampled on it enough with his colleague, leaving sweet footprints everywhere.
I could see his face full of embarrassment at that old devil’s behavior, which turned into a look of pity while he handed over the package in his hands.
I took it.
"I hope that’s another cake..." I said while opening it.
It was indeed another cake. Way smaller than the first one, but there still stood ’Happy 18th Birthday, Kennith!’ on it.
"Pffft, what the hell? Did she order two versions in case she would get angry and destroy the first one?" I asked the bodyguard, who closed his eyes in helplessness and nodded.
Then he gave me a thick envelope before bowing and hurriedly leaving. I gave Henry the cake, who held it up in a raised hand while still hugging me from behind as I looked into the envelope.
It was full of cash.
I stared at the money, stunned.
"What is wrong with her? What should I do with cash in here?"
"Hahaha, it’s your birthday!" Henry never stopped laughing.
"This will only get stolen; what should I do with this? Bribe someone? And who? The whole fucking center?" I tried to count it, but it was too much to do so without sitting down at a table.
"Ahahaha!"
"No, really?! Where should I put this?" Should I cut a hole in my mattress or keep the cash on my body in case someone shot me and I needed something to stop the bullet? And if I wore it on my body, wouldn’t I have to constantly be paranoid that someone would attack me to steal it?
What about a little credit card or just a notice that she put something in my bank account?
"Did she do that on purpose to inconvenience me??? Am I being bullied by her?? With money?!"
"AHAHAHA!"
"Nice that you have your fun. Jokesters also don’t eat cake—just to remind you." I turned my head up at Henry.
He grinned down at me, wanting to say something when we heard a knock on the doorframe.
"Am I interrupting? What the hell happened here?"
Henry’s face fell, and I turned around, recognizing that voice.
It had been a long time, and now she was two years older than me. Her brown hair was longer, reaching her hips in a thick braid.
Her eyebrows were not as bushy as back then but neatly cared for, while she had makeup on her now. She didn’t look as free-spirited but as if she had a makeover done. Also, instead of jeans and a loose shirt, there was now a girly black summer dress on her voluptuous body.
"Ellie." I stuffed the envelope in the pocket of my pants.
She looked up from the cake on the ground.
"KENNY!" She jumped over the mess; at least she still wore her old favorite sneakers as she ran to me.
Henry didn’t let go of me, still standing behind me when she crashed into us. The whole situation was uncomfortable; what the hell, why am I sandwiched between Henry and my ex-girlfriend?
"Are you alright? What the hell, you are a hero now! Damn, I am so sorry for doubting you! YOUR EYES! AND OMG YOUR TATTOOS?! And look!" She shoved a black, glittering square into my face while she ignored Henry, who was looming over us.
She was still the same.
"Is that the square I bought you?"
"Yeah, the Valentino handbag, hehe. I thought I show you that I still have it." She continued to press the little bag into my face.
"What the hell!" I laughed, grabbed it, and pushed it away, along with her.
She stepped back a bit, her sneakers making squeaky sounds, because even if she jumped over the cake, the leftovers were all smeared on the floor from the bodyguard’s shoes.
"Sit down for a moment." I said when my eyes fell on the destroyed table. Well, the chairs were still intact.
"Okay. And who is this?" Finally, she acknowledged Henry after she sat down.
"My friend, Henry."
"Best friend." Came an unhappy voice behind me.
"Mhm. So, can we talk alone?" Ellie asked, putting her square on her lap and gripping her braid that lay over her chest.
Well... I won’t ask him to leave. I wanted to disagree when Henry let go of me and walked out with my cake. Only, he went out the door the guests would take to leave, not the door back to the center.
Hopefully, he wasn’t as petty as my grandmother and wouldn’t destroy my second cake because I’m sure a third one won’t pop up.
I put a chair across from Ellie’s and sat down.
"So, why did you come? Just to show me the square?"
She glared at me.
"First, I’m sorry. Second, the square. Third, happy birthday."
"No problem; it looks nice but not worth the money; thanks." I put one leg over the other, holding my ankle.
"That’s it?" She asked me.
"Yeah." I nodded.
"You are such an asshole." She laughed.
"I know." I smirked back.
"So, my brother was put in the military. We’ll stay here now."
"Nice."
"So... I will come again to visit you?" She tried again, growing impatient.
"Nah. Just look after yourself."
"Won’t you at least tell me what happened to you all this time?" She groaned in annoyance. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"Meh." I chuckled.
She raised her fist, shaking it in threat. I put my leg down and gripped my chair, ready to make a run for it—out of instinct and painful memories from the past.
Ellie laughed at my reaction.
"Fine, I won’t beat up the birthday kid." She stood up and went to the cake on the floor, stomping on it a few times while looking at me in provocation, before leaving.
This poor cake and what it had gone through today.
These women are all crazy.
Now that this was finished, I stood up and went after her to get Henry when I heard them talking.
"He told you that?" Ellie asked.
"Yes. Why did you say that?" Henry’s voice.
I leaned against the wall, not walking out but listening instead.
"Haaa. He was way too chill. Never really anxious, never nervous. That is not how you are if you’re in love with someone." She explained.
Henry hummed.
"Give me that." He suddenly demanded.
"What? No!" Ellie said, and then there followed a bit of a commotion.
I pushed myself from the wall, ready to go and take a look, when I heard Ellie growl.
"Fine! Take it! But give me the cards and cash that are inside!"
