Flip the Coin [BL]-Chapter 230. Really back
I tapped my finger against the glass window, looking at the siren that was safe to watch because of the barrier between us.
There was a grin on Henry’s face as he raised his hand to touch the spot my finger was placed.
The bright lighting on the ceiling had been turned off when we entered the capsules; now the room was only dimly lit, and the glass in the little window was dyed darkly. It should have been pitch black from the inside when you closed your eyes.
Because of our supersight, naturally nothing hindered us from seeing each other; however, with a single touch of his, reaching out for me, I had to step back because the door opened automatically.
It really was a pity; I could have watched him embedded in the water forever. Though, I’ll have to tell him to also avoid it because of either his future self’s or his counterpart’s warnings.
I wasn’t fully prepared for him to step out of the floating chamber with his wet hair combed back lazily, his wet clothes clinging to him, having turned transparent as well, and his touch as he grabbed my wrist immediately when exiting, pulling me to him.
"How was it?" He asked huskily, unclear if he spoke of the experience in the wet coffin or the experience of watching him.
"Interesting," I answered both questions. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Henry chuckled and hugged me, his hand on my neck in a wet but warm hold.
"Please go and change." The supervisor’s voice sounded, and while the male students still didn’t exit, I was steered to the changing room by Henry, going past all of these many coffins.
Inside the changing room, there were also drains in the floor, but also towels and fresh dry clothes, along with hair dryers on the wall, which reminded me of the prison. When I took my clothes off, I felt a heated stare, but I ignored it since I had done the same.
So look as much as you want.
As I dried my wet, naked body with my towel, Henry finally turned away.
"What about those sounds in the capsule?" He asked, his voice a bit higher than normal and still a bit raspy.
"Conditioning?" I told him my best shot.
"Mhm, let’s see if we hear that one somewhere else again," Henry replied, and the noticeable silence stretched a bit.
I broke into laughter, so happy, fucking overjoyed that he wasn’t gunned down, he wasn’t dead, and that he wasn’t some silver-eyed freak, but my dog, my Henry.
Without even knowing what I was laughing about, he chimed in, and when I looked up, I saw him beaming at me, with the towel around his hips.
"Happy?"
I grinned back. Yeah, somehow coming back from a dystopian future and getting shot let me appreciate the more or less peaceful present.
"Yeah. You?"
Henry’s grin turned into an elated smile as he took a dry white shirt from one of the shelves.
"I am always happy if you are happy."
I also put my clothes on, for a moment not knowing what to say, especially because this dependence did something for me; it really did. I love it. I love that he won’t leave me, at least not at the moment.
Continue to look at me, continue to need me, and when the time comes and you learn the truth about all of this being my fault, that the culprit of it all had even put the blame on your own twin sister, then be so caught up in this master-dog play that you remain willingly inside your kennel, right where I can see you.
I pushed these dark thoughts away.
"Then let’s both be happy."
Henry put his white pants on and hung on me again when the other male participants entered the changing room.
The skinny guy looked a bit aggressive, so he would surely make trouble sometime soon, but now he and his minions still behaved. Some people don’t need a reason to start a fight; well, be my guest.
While we blow-dried our hair, Anti Guy and Harry changed and came to us asking for our opinion on the floating chamber as we left through the changing room to the corridor.
There the two male nurses stood.
"Mr. Howard, please follow us." One male nurse said.
"Where to?" I asked, feeling Henry tightening his hold on me.
"You have a visitor."
Did my grandma come to scold me personally after I hung up on her?
"He comes with me." I pointed at Henry, and while Anti Guy and Harry fell back, the indignant but obedient male nurses walked with us to another elevator than the one we had taken down.
In silence, we returned to the ground floor, where they led us inside a big white room with a mirror embedded in a wall. I nearly rolled my eyes at these messed-up fake mirrors constantly popping up.
The room had a big table in it with chairs, then a smaller table for kids, some toys that were also for kids, and a few board games—which I could and will take with me, cause Henry wanted to play.
The nurses left, and we were alone when another big door opened.
I nearly choked on air, seeing three military recruits with short hair. I had to stare at them for some time, as they seemed older, tougher, and somehow not as familiar as I hoped they would be.
Henry let go of me and stepped back, breaking the motionless situation, and at least one person woke up from the staredown.
"Kenny!" A bawling Danny sprinted the few steps before he threw himself on me.
I found myself spreading my arms wide open and catching him.
Jordan and Omar also hurried closer and hugged me while Danny was still crying loudly like some dumb kid. Omar sniffled as well, and Jordan patted my back without pause, clearly agitated.
I couldn’t believe that they were here—like some strange symbols that stood for ’home’, I had placed them on a pedestal, thinking they would never again be in reach.
But I could feel their bodies, could feel their warmth, and also could hear the deafening cries of some specific smaller person.
My eyes got hot as well, and I finally realized that this was not some parallel world, but it was the earth I knew, the dimension I grew up in, the timeline I belonged to now.
I’m back home.
