Chapter 188: 188. Male Lead Complex

"Shut the fuck up. What does a kid know?" Kenny3 answered with agitation.

"Henrietta. Ever heard the name?" I instead asked to make sure this guy was really Kenny3.

His face morphed quickly into something grotesque, and I looked away in disgust at seeing that. What a perfect scare-off against the usage of drugs.

"So you know her. When you were outside on a street as a child, lost or for whatever reason, she randomly came to you and told you that you would be a family, yet later you ’saw’ that she had bad intentions..." I continued and apparently hit bullseye.

He jumped up and came to my side, though it didn’t look like he wanted to attack me, which he wouldn’t be able to successfully do anyway. Instead, he grabbed my hand, and I let him do it. I watched as his eyes turned red and curiously observed my ability at work from the perspective of an outsider.

"You... you!" No idea what he saw, but he stumbled back; I clutched his hand and pulled him back to me.

"What you can do, your father can do twice." I smirked and flipped the coin.

Back of my hand; black; eyes and ears uncovered; a big grin on her face. Incorrect future of Kenny3—the correct future of his nearest counterpart.

I heard a lock spring open, so loud it was deafening.

Henry grabbed my hand, and we ran outside, along with countless other survivors behind us.

"Where is she?" I asked him loudly.

"Already upstairs!" Henry said as we ran up the fire staircase. He used his power on every closed door we encountered, making it easy for us to flee.

When we came to a big hall, there were guards trying to stop us. I conjured up a gun and shot them one after another. They didn’t want to hurt us test subjects, so I had a free hand.

We left the laboratory and found ourselves in a landscape with a lake nearby, as well as cornfields around us.

However, that wasn’t what froze us in place—it was the burning city nearby, lying in ashes, along with a gigantic figure that continued to destroy it, flicking skyscrapers away as if they were toys.

What...? What am I seeing right now?!

"HENRIETTA!" Henry snapped out of it before me and roared for his sister, but she was nowhere to be seen.

I couldn’t look away from the giant, and he seemed to feel my gaze, though he was so—so damn far away. He stopped his actions and turned to me.

The people behind me screamed and fled, some running back in the laboratory, some running amongst the cornfields; it was total chaos, and I could only smile.

"It’s over." I whispered.

"NO! SHE IS HERE SOMEWHERE!" Henry managed to somehow hear me while he grabbed and carried me back inside. I pointed at the giant, like I had seen it in my dream, just with another backdrop behind us.

"Hahahaha!" I burst out, seeing the giant coming toward us.

Inside the building, the people try again to catch us, and I also point at them to laugh, "WHY ARE YOU NOT RUNNING? WHY ARE YOU COMING AT US WHEN WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE??!!"

The earth thrums louder and louder the closer the giant comes. The shaking finally alarms the people inside who hadn’t looked outside and hadn’t started to flee. I saw my grandma running behind us, and I yelled at her,

"I’M SORRY, YOU OLD HAG! LET’S GET BURIED TOGETHER AND MEET IN OUR NEXT LIFE." She rolled her eyes while shooting a guard that came closer.

"HENRIETTA! COME OUT, HENRIETTA!" Henry, meanwhile, screamed his lungs out. While running through the corridors, we finally hear an answer coming from the elevator. Henry uses his ability on the elevator doors, and we find Henrietta locked inside with her parents and a dead guard. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

"OPEN IT NOW!" Henry yells at her, prompting his sister to jump up and throw herself at him to bite his neck. He let her while still carrying me. I wiggle out of his hold, suddenly knowing what I have to do.

Henrietta opens the portal and pushes her parents in while I turn around and grab my grandma, throwing her inside before I conjure up a gun. I fired at Henry’s leg and pushed him into the portal as well before holding the gun to my temple.

BANG!

Coming back, the adrenaline had me so high that I felt dizzy, and alongside was my heart that beat so heavily that it nearly killed me.

I grabbed Kenny3’s hand and tightened my hold until I heard something break and he screamed. But I didn’t care about that, not fucking at all.

I flipped the coin, trying to get another vision of my future, even of his future, yet the coin never turned black again. I pushed the junkie away and buried my face in my hands.

"Hahaha. HAHAHHAHA!"

"Very good. Very fucking good." I stood up and kicked the glass with all my might; it shattered instantly. The pink fog that came through a few slits in the ground didn’t do anything to me now that the glass wall was destroyed and there was enough air inside this sick coliseum.

Dr. Carell stood up, yet I had already conjured up my gun and pointed it at him. He raised his hands obediently, and I stepped behind him to hold my gun against his temple.

"There is a Henrietta here. I won’t do anything, but I have to speak to her. Please bring me to her." No idea if she was here already or if she would only come soon.

"No tricks. If you do something, I’ll shoot you, and we’ll just die together. It doesn’t matter to me. I just saw how I will soon die anyway."

"You saw...?" He asked, the scientist in him still interested, though a bit scared.

"Yeah, I can see the future. You are welcome to experiment on me if you ever get your hands on my dead body." I flipped the coin on him while we went to the door with my gun at his temple.

With him, the coin turned black again as if my ability was playing FUCKING TRICKS ON ME, and surprisingly, I saw that he would behave. What’s more, I saw him bringing me to Henrietta without problems, as if he were curious about what I was about to do. That meant she was here.

Good, very good.

We took the elevator up to the first floor. The guards who saw us on the way put their guns down and followed us under Dr. Carell’s instructions.

Up here, it seemed much nicer than downstairs, like a normal villa layout. I was brought to a guarded room, and they, too, put their guns out and threw them away as well. Entering it, I saw Henrietta leaning on a bed, handcuffs on her wrists.

I pushed the doctor out before closing the door behind me and holding it shut. "Henrietta!" I screamed at her until she finally woke up.

"Huh?" She seemed startled soon.

"COME HERE!" I yelled, but she stared at me amid the darkness in which she should also be able to see clearly.

"COME HERE RIGHT NOW! WE WILL ALL DIE IF YOU DON’T!" I screamed again, and she finally moved to my side.

"Go and drink as much as you want; you can even take a fucking bite. But you have to open a portal far, fucking far away from here and our own world. If you don’t do so... a fucking giant will eat each and every one of us."

"What? The giant? He will come?" She asked, horror evident on her face. She didn’t seem like someone hearing about that thing for the first time. But that didn’t matter; nothing did.

I started to tear up while chuckling.

"That thing is after me. Wherever I am, that thing will follow. Send me to a place so far away that it won’t destroy cities and hurt other people." This damn male lead complex was the only thing that helped me stay sane. A duty, a final important act I could do before dying at just seventeen.

Like I had seen in my vision, Henry’s sister this time threw herself at me, just that she had to bend down a bit instead of standing on tiptoes, as she sunk her teeth inside my neck.

"Get your brother out. Get my grandma out. I am begging you. That’s the wish of a dying man. Fuck, you have to have a bit of human compassion inside you. Please, you won; I’m gonna die. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. And get the people back to their world. Get your brother. Tell him I went ahead or something. Get everyone out." I rambled while she drank my blood, and I felt her draining my strength speedily.

"Please, Henrietta. Get that old lady out. And your brother. Can you promise me? Promise me, okay?" I started to cry, but who cares? She had to promise; she had to promise. Everything I did was a mistake; my actions seemed to have led me to a future where there was no chief. There was only someone holding a gun against his head so that he wouldn’t be responsible for countless deaths.

"Send me far away, to a place no one... Fuck. Just do it, just promise me."

They finally tried to ram the door open from the outside, and when I felt too weak to hold them back any longer, Henrietta made a motion in the air.

"I promise." She said before grabbing my wrist and flinging me inside the portal.
