Flip the Coin [BL]-Chapter 179. Visit
I lay down, and Dora showed me her phone screen. The way she positioned my scanned drawings over the picture she took of me perfectly covered my scars.
"Perfect."
The women spoke to each other about who would start with what, and while Chelsea sat on the bed, Dora sat on the bedframe.
I am aware that it’s not normal to let two women inside a closed room with two prisoners, especially if one of them was black-haired—matching the prior targets of Kenny3.
Did they want to test me because of my ’corruption’? They could find out all they wanted and then hopefully let me go.
When I had flipped the coin on Dora, I only saw Teddy promising her that I wouldn’t pose a danger to her, and the guards only got the order to get us to and from the room.
But...so what if they find out that I am not the same? So what if they uncover how wrong they were upon discovering that there are counterparts among The Four Hundred? Then they would finally have to listen to us and overthink their beliefs.
The women started to work, and although they both wore gloves, it wasn’t a problem.
Palm, gold, eyes, and ears uncovered, incorrect past of Chelsea3.
The blonde girl runs downstairs with others following her, reaching the ladder first. She hurriedly runs inside her room, hiding inside a closet that lies on the floor. Pushing open the door, she hides inside the dresser until it is safe again. Not a speck of light comes through the closed doors, and she breathes fast, rapidly, still shaken from fear.
Some time passes, and her eyes close.
Then, she jolts awake, noticing that the air is unusually thin inside her hideout, so she pushes the door open with little strength. Crawling out, she lies on the floor.
"Why is it so silent?" Pushing her body up, she looks through the rooms, only to find them empty.
She walks to the place where a ladder should be to lead to the upside-down staircase, only to see that it is missing.
"IS SOMEBODY HERE?!"
"Fuck." I cursed when I came back, both girls halting in their work.
"Sorry, it just hurt a bit."
Damn it! No, it was a good sign—as long as the Deer Monster World was the closest to this world, we could get her out of there.
Now I have to somehow talk to Henry.
The rest of the time the girls worked on me, I thought about how to contact him, and I also flipped the coin on Chelsea3 repeatedly. Yet it never turned black, and when it turned golden, it showed me the same scene of Chelsea hiding, her losing consciousness or falling asleep, her waking up alone, or scenes that had happened longer ago, like her eating with the group, helping to clean up the upside-down mansion, things like that.
That could mean that, due to the time difference, not much time had passed on her side. At least I hope that this was the reason.
When we were finished for the day, the tattoo was nearly done, covering my chest and ribcage, and after thanking them, Teddy and I left, got cuffed again, and were brought to the stones.
I relieved some of my worry by smashing them. This light but massive hammer would surely come in handy in the future. I should touch more stuff for the time the giant comes. However, I still firmly believe that everything will be over by then, and even the attempt to fight would be futile.
"Howard! Stop working!"
When I turned around, I noticed an additional guard had joined the one who was watching me. That hadn’t happened before; was it time for lunch?
I put the hammer down and turned around to get cuffed before I was brought back inside the prison building—we smashed the stones in an adjoining area beside the prison yard—and soon the path we took felt really familiar. We walked to those couple of rooms I had been in today.
The door opened, and instantly blue eyes wandered all over me.
PERFECT TIMING, HENRY!
"Uncuff him." Henry demanded coldly.
"Yes, Commander."
Huh? They really believed so firmly in the corruption theory that they took Henry for his counterpart, even though he looked so much younger?
I looked up and noted that, in this shabby room, there were no cameras. After the guard finished, he then turned around and left us alone, even closing the door behind him.
The room was deathly silent as I massaged my wrists, again looking around paranoidly for a camera or a bug, when Henry came closer and fell to his knees, hugging me tightly.
"Please don’t be angry. I’m sorry that you’re locked up again. I will get you out."
I was stunned for a moment before stroking his hair.
"I’m not angry at you; why should I be? But more importantly, we left Chelsea behind."
He abruptly raised his head and looked into my eyes; his expression was full of relief that I was not angry before he thought back again, sighing longly after a few moments. He lightly bumped his forehead against my stomach as if to ’punish’ himself for not noticing sooner. That movement was somehow strange to look at from above.
"I met her counterpart and flipped the coin on her. I saw Chelsea inside the upside-down mansion, so the Deer Monster World is still the closest to us. You have to find Henrietta and force her to bring you there."
Henry had stopped with the bumping and squeezed me tighter to himself.
"I have Henrietta and your grandma; both are fine."
That finally made me relax more.
"Very good." I patted his head.
"Get Chelsea as soon as possible. If the order of the parallel worlds somehow changes, we won’t get her back."
"Mhm..."
That didn’t sound very convincing. I grabbed his hair and turned his face up.
"Did you hear me?"
"Yes. I will get her today; I promise." Henry finally gave the answer I wanted, so I let go and continued playing with his hair.
Good dog.
Henry rubbed himself against me as if seeking protection from his master, and I let him until he finally spoke again.
"They had brought a part of The Four Hundred to a laboratory; the rest is inside the center. They are completely crazy, thinking that everyone they found to be a counterpart is in a state of corruption; that the ’dungeons’ stole their DNA and built a new body."
"Fuck." I thought that as long as they were proven wrong, they would just change their views, but that was apparently way too naive—they had decided to take the worst possible route instead. And there was a laboratory.... Maybe there was no need to break out; perhaps I would be brought there soon enough.
"Henrietta will help us because my parents are there as well."
"Good. First, get Chelsea. Then I’ll find a way to break out of prison. After that, we will go to the center and get everyone out before storming the laboratory to retrieve the rest." This way, we could also ensure that Henrietta cooperated fully.
"Will we go back to the Deer Monster World?" Henry asked.
"No idea. You have to get Chelsea out first anyway, because we don’t know when the parallel worlds will shift. When all is said and done, we have to see if another world has come closer. Best case, we return to our world."
