Chapter 88: Chapter 88: The CEO Questions His Wife

Silas Sheffield was very busy today. In the morning, he was occupied with a multinational meeting, and in the afternoon, he went to a club to discuss a collaboration with a group president.

The matter of deputy general manager positions in branch offices didn’t require Silas Sheffield’s involvement.

He wasn’t even aware that Thea Tate started working at Sheffield.

By the time Silas Sheffield got home at night, it was already ten-thirty.

At this time, Clara would usually have showered, be lying in bed playing on her phone, getting ready to sleep.

But tonight, when Silas Sheffield opened the bedroom door, it was pitch black, and no lights were on.

Sophie went to bed this early today?

Afraid to wake Clara up, Silas Sheffield walked lightly.

As he approached the bed and his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he saw the covers were neatly arranged with not a single person there.

"Sophie?"

Silas Sheffield turned on the light.

The room was empty, nowhere was Clara’s figure to be found.

He frowned slightly and walked out of the room to knock on Clara’s door across the hall.

He knocked twice with no response.

Silas Sheffield took out his phone and texted Clara.

[Baby, are you asleep?]

In front of Clara, Silas Sheffield was just like a young boy who had just started dating, calling her ’baby’ at every turn, showing none of the demeanor of a cold CEO.

Clara didn’t reply, but the light in her room was on.

Silas Sheffield patiently knocked on the door again.

After a while, he heard the sound of small footsteps approaching from afar.

The door was pulled open from the inside, and Clara stood there in a white silk nightgown, her long black hair silky as satin, draping in front of her chest.

Clara had just finished her bath and blow-dried her hair, with a faint scent of body wash lingering on her body.

It was a milky fragrance, very sweet.

Silas Sheffield inhaled, then slowly exhaled. His deep eyes hinted with desires, his voice low and magnetic: "Baby, sleeping in separate rooms tonight?"

Clara lowered her eyes, "Yes." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

"What’s wrong?"

"I’ve got my period."

"Didn’t it just come last week?"

Clara lied, "Too tired lately, hormone imbalance, it came again."

Silas Sheffield narrowed his eyes slightly, seemingly suspecting the truth of her words.

"I’m going to sleep." Clara said, attempting to close the door.

Silas Sheffield placed his hand against the door, looking intently at Clara, "Are you upset?"

"No." Clara’s voice was muffled.

"Why are you upset?" Silas Sheffield clearly noticed Clara was unhappy.

Clara pursed her lips, saying nothing.

Suddenly, the world spun.

Silas Sheffield picked her up horizontally.

"Ah... what are you doing?" Clara exclaimed.

Silas Sheffield carried Clara to his bedroom, "Tell me, why are you upset, hmm?"

Clara turned her face away from him, her cheeks puffed out.

Silas Sheffield carried her into the bedroom, closed the door, and lowered his head to kiss her.

Without even waiting to reach the bed, he eagerly kissed Clara.

His kissing skills had improved.

Clara’s pale slender hands clutched tightly onto Silas Sheffield’s shirt, her breathing becoming more rapid.

Kissing Clara, Silas Sheffield moved towards the bed.

He laid her on the bed, leaning in to deepen the kiss.

As he kissed, the man suddenly chuckled softly, "Little liar."

He knew she wasn’t on her period at all.

Clara’s face turned red, she gave a soft "humph" in mock anger, looking cute enough to melt Silas Sheffield’s heart.

"Learned to lie now? Hmm?" Silas Sheffield gently pinched Clara’s face, "Tell me, why are you upset?"

Clara was truly upset, speaking with a hint of jealousy, "You even arranged your first love to work at the company, can’t I be upset?"

Silas Sheffield frowned slightly.

"What first love?"

"Thea Tate."

Clara pouted, thinking what are you pretending for, you awful man.

Silas Sheffield explained, "She’s not my first love."

"Oh."

Meaning you dated someone before her?

If Clara remembered correctly, Thea Tate and Silas Sheffield got together the summer after she graduated high school.

Back then, she was eighteen, Silas Sheffield was twenty-one, he had just finished his junior year, about to start his senior year.

It was normal to have dated someone else before senior year.

After all, such a top-grade handsome guy like him would have fascinated a bunch of girls as soon as he stepped into college.

Sophie once mentioned that Silas Sheffield had been dubbed the ’campus prince’ since his freshman year.

By the end of his first semester of freshman year, many girls were already pursuing him.

Silas attended Veridian University, and Sophie herself didn’t know about these things, only heard through Silas’s friend Ethan Fuller during his visits to the Sheffield Family during winter and summer breaks.

At the time, Sophie didn’t know Clara had a secret crush on Silas Sheffield, she casually shared gossip about her brother with Clara.

Back then when Clara learned about the numerous girls chasing Silas, she felt miserable for days.

"Oh?" Silas Sheffield seriously stared at Clara, "What does ’oh’ mean?"

Clara was cold, "It means I got it."

Silas Sheffield moved closer, his thin lips lightly brushing Clara’s earlobe, making her tingle.

"Jealous?"

Clara stubbornly mumbled, "Not at all."

Silas Sheffield chuckled, giving her a light peck on the lips, like a dragonfly skimming water.

After the kiss, he asked, "Really not?"

"Really not."

Still stubborn.

Silas Sheffield smiled, lightly pressing his fingertip to her lips, his eyes nearly overflowed with desire, "You were my first love."

Clara huffed, "Sweet talk comes so easily to you."

Silas Sheffield’s lips curved into a smile, his eyes filled with tenderness and indulgence.

The bit of anger in Clara’s heart vanished instantly.

Even though she knew Silas was saying it to cheer her up, she had to admit, sweet words can sometimes be very effective.

Silas Sheffield’s expression serious, "I didn’t know about Thea Tate joining the company, what is her position?"

Clara glanced at him, "You, a company’s big CEO, asking a little assistant like me?"

"No." Silas Sheffield’s expression was indulgent, "It’s the CEO asking the future Mrs. CEO."

Clara’s heart pounded hard.

She sighed in frustration.

Clara, can’t you show some dignity!

How does a couple of sweet words from Silas Sheffield manage to calm you down?

Silas Sheffield watched Clara lying beneath him, her face red, his eyes deepened, his Adam’s apple bobbed, unable to resist kissing her vibrant red lips again.

"So can Mrs. CEO tell me?"

Oh no.

How is he so good at flirting?

How many relationships has this dog-man been in?

Clara felt a mix of sweetness and bitterness in her heart.

She spoke with a bit of attitude, "Deputy General Manager."

Silas Sheffield: "Tomorrow, I’ll go take a look to understand the situation."

After a pause, for fear Clara would overthink, he added, "Such a position doesn’t require my approval. She should’ve applied through proper channels and gained the General Manager’s approval."

"Oh." Clara’s expression eased a lot.

"Little Jealous Pack." Silas Sheffield laughed, kisses falling like raindrops.

The gentle drizzle of kisses gradually turned into a passionate storm.

The room temperature gradually rose.
