Flash Marriage With Mr. Sheffield: Go Away, Cheap Man!-Chapter 86: The Deputy General Manager Is a Stunning Beauty—and Our President’s First Love
Clara was going to work as usual these past few days.
That morning, as soon as Clara arrived at her desk, Lisa Holloway leaned over and said, "Clara, have you heard? Our branch is about to have a new vice president parachuted in."
Clara didn’t pay much attention and replied casually, "Haven’t heard."
It’s just a parachute appointment, something quite normal; it didn’t concern her and had nothing to do with her.
Lisa, gossiping, said, "I heard this new vice president is a stunning beauty and our president’s first love."
"Bam—" The folder in Clara’s hand dropped to the ground.
"Clara, you seem shocked too, right? I’m so curious about what kind of woman could capture our president’s heart. I really want to meet this vice president."
Lisa continued talking to herself, not noticing Clara’s unusual reaction.
Clara picked up the folder, her expression stiff, her fingers gripping the folder turning slightly pale.
She heard her own slightly trembling voice, "The president’s first love? Which president?"
"We only have one president, right?" Lisa looked at her strangely, "Who else could it be? Of course, it’s President Sheffield."
Lisa said confidently, "Speaking of President Sheffield, do you think President Sheffield, with his cold, aloof demeanor, will become very gentle once he falls for someone? I wish this vice president would open a class to teach us how to pursue our idol."
Clara’s heart felt as if an invisible hand was twisting and tugging at it, the pain almost suffocating her.
"Do you know the name of this vice president?"
Lisa shook her head, "I don’t know. Isn’t there a meeting soon? President Hawthorne should announce it."
A few minutes later, Clara absentmindedly walked into the meeting room.
After she sat down, she kept replaying in her mind what Lisa had just said.
Silas Sheffield’s first love is about to parachute into Sheffield as the vice president.
Is it Thea Tate?
Will the cold, aloof, and reserved Silas become very gentle once he falls for someone...?
Recently, her relationship with Silas was so sweet that she’d almost forgotten that Silas’s first love had returned to the country.
If it’s indeed Thea, wouldn’t she get to see Silas every day from now on?
Would their old flame rekindle?
"Clara? Clara, are you listening?" Anabelle Spencer waved her hand in front of Clara, "What are you daydreaming about?"
Coming out of her reverie, Clara turned to Anabelle, "What is it?"
Anabelle gave her a strange look and muttered, "I was just talking to you, and you didn’t even respond."
Clara, a bit downcast, asked, "What did you say? I was thinking about something and didn’t pay attention."
Anabelle repeated, "I said I’m having a birthday next Saturday and would like to invite you to my house for the party, can you come?"
Clara was about to refuse when Anabelle blinked at her and pleaded with her hands clasped together, "Please, Clara, come on, you were my first friend in Veridian, I’ll be really sad if you don’t come."
Anabelle’s big, bright eyes looked at Clara pitifully.
"..." Clara felt a bit helpless, not sure how to refuse, "Have you invited Lisa?"
"Of course I did." Anabelle smiled, revealing cute little dimples, "She was my second friend in Veridian, I surely wouldn’t forget her."
Clara: "If she goes, I’ll go."
"She’ll go." Anabelle laughed, her bright, almond-shaped eyes sparkling, "Great, you’ve promised me, so don’t go back on it."
Clara absentmindedly replied with an "Mm."
"Why do you seem a bit off today?" Anabelle asked, "Is there something on your mind?"
"No."
Clara and Anabelle weren’t close enough for her to share her private matters.
"What are you guys talking about?" Lisa sat down on Clara’s other side.
"Talking about Anabelle’s birthday party, she said you’re going?" Clara seized the opportunity to steer the conversation away.
Anabelle quickly said, "Yes, yes, Lisa, you promised me you’d go, right?"
"I’ll go," Lisa said, "I promised you and won’t back out."
People gradually filled the room. When Julian Hawthorne walked into the meeting room, all those chatting fell silent.
Julian wore a black custom-tailored suit over a white shirt, his hair slicked back to reveal his full forehead. His high brow and deep-set eyes, combined with his well-defined face carrying a gentle, faint smile, gave off an elegant and refined vibe.
As soon as he entered, he attracted everyone’s attention, captivating the single young women in the department.
Clara noticed the girls sitting opposite her; the admiration in their eyes was practically overflowing.
Julian, as usual, began with a speech, then had everyone give reports on their work.
While others were reporting, Julian listened seriously, though his gaze didn’t meet the speaker’s, instead lowering to his documents as he nodded or asked questions.
When it came time for Clara Sterling to deliver her report, Julian looked up at her, attentively listening, his eyes softening.
When Clara Sterling finished her report, Julian nodded and smiled warmly, "Well done."
Clara couldn’t tell if it was just her imagination, but she felt that the girls opposite her who admired Julian seemed to be glaring at her with eyes like daggers.
After everyone finished reporting, Julian said, "This Friday, there’s a tech exhibition in Ardendale. I’ll be taking several group leaders from the tech team and assistants to attend."
He then looked at Anabelle Spencer, "If I remember correctly, you’re from Ardendale, Assistant Spencer?"
Anabelle nodded, "Yes, President Hawthorne."
Julian: "Prepare for it; join me on Friday for the event."
"Sure, President Hawthorne."
Then Julian looked at Clara Sterling, "Assistant Sterling, please prepare as well. This event involves complex schedules and a lot of work; I’ll need two assistants."
Clara replied, "Yes, President Hawthorne."
After handling department affairs, Julian announced a personnel change in the company.
"The former vice president has been promoted to headquarters, and today there’s a new vice president taking his place. The new vice president is Thea Tate, who recently returned from studying at a prestigious university overseas."
Thea Tate’s profile appeared on the large screen behind Julian.
On the left side of the screen was a photo of Thea Tate.
A woman in a brown suit, her chestnut hair draped past her shoulders, wearing light makeup appropriate for the workplace, smiled gracefully—a smart and pretty image of a career woman.
The right side displayed her basic information, including her educational background, work experience, and interests.
