Flash Marriage With Mr. Sheffield: Go Away, Cheap Man!-Chapter 209: President Sheffield Is Surrounded by So Many Bad Peaches
"Mm!" Anabelle nodded vigorously, "Enough about me, let’s talk about you two. Lisa, Clara, how have you been lately?"
Lisa Holloway’s smile faded, and her brows furrowed tightly, with a hint of irritation in her voice.
"Oh, don’t even mention it. I’m about to go crazy. My trashy ex-boyfriend has been pestering me again these past few days. I blocked his number, so he’s using his friends’ numbers to text and call me, and even waiting downstairs at my office."
"How shameless is he?" Anabelle said angrily. "He wronged you in the first place, and now he still has the nerve to bother you. Next time he harasses you, just call the police."
"No need to call the police, it’s just incredibly annoying," Lisa sighed, taking a large gulp of sour plum juice. "I’ve blocked all his contact information and told the security downstairs at the company. He shouldn’t be able to corner me anymore. I never expected it to be this difficult even after breaking up."
All of them were familiar with the situation between Lisa and her ex-boyfriend.
Back then, Lisa poured her heart out for him.
Unexpectedly, he got involved ambiguously with another girl behind her back and eventually cheated on her.
On Valentine’s Day, Lisa had prepared a gift and driven for hours to see him, only to catch him in bed with his mistress.
This relationship had a considerable impact on Lisa, and it took her a lot to slowly recover from it. Now being pestered again, anyone would feel frustrated.
"Such people are just despicable." Clara Sterling thought of her ex-boyfriend, Isaac Sutton.
Wasn’t he just the same as Lisa’s ex-boyfriend?
Clara Sterling comforted, "If it really gets worse, I can find someone to scare him off, make him think twice before bothering you again."
"Yeah, we’ve got your back," Anabelle also agreed. "Guys like these need a taste of their own medicine, or they’ll think you’re easy to bully."
Lisa, looking at the concern in their eyes, felt a warm sensation in her heart and nodded, "Thank you, if he harasses me again, I’ll reach out to you."
The mood slightly dampened by Lisa’s issue, Clara Sterling changed the subject.
"Speaking of which, last time I went to Silas Sheffield’s grandmother’s house with him, I found out there was a girl there who liked him. He’d never mentioned it before, but I can confirm Silas only sees her as a sister."
Lisa: "A man like President Sheffield attracting women’s interest is no surprise."
Clara shook her head and said, "This girl is different from other women. She’s the sister of Silas’ childhood friend."
As she spoke, Clara slowly furrowed her brow, "But I never heard him mention this childhood friend or his sister before. I asked once, and he didn’t want to talk about it. I didn’t even see the friend during this visit."
Anabelle analyzed, "If he doesn’t want to talk about it, it means there’s some hidden story there."
"I think so too," Clara said. "Whenever his childhood friend is mentioned, he becomes very somber. He even had nightmares on those nights."
"Sounds pretty serious," Lisa said. "Maybe it’s a psychological knot for him."
"That girl’s name is Shannon Langley..." Clara paused, choosing her words, "She... how should I say this, seems gentle and sweet, and speaks softly, but she’s actually a manipulative girl."
"How so?" Anabelle asked.
Clara took a sip of tea, "She likes Silas Sheffield and is hostile towards me, always speaking with underlying sarcasm."
"She constantly mentions how she’s known Silas since they were kids and reminisces about their childhood memories, saying how she used to cling to him back then." Clara sneered, "I think she’s doing it on purpose, typical manipulative behavior."
Lisa frowned, "There’s so much drama around President Sheffield."
Anabelle put down her chopsticks, looked at Clara, and said seriously, "Clara, you have to be careful of her. People like her are good at playing innocent and pitiful with deep schemes. Don’t let her bully you."
Lisa also nodded, "Yeah, Anabelle is right. These manipulative girls love to create drama. Don’t let your guard down. If she tries anything, tell me, and I’ll help you deal with her!"
Seeing the seriousness in their expressions, Clara felt warmth in her heart and smiled, nodding, "Okay."
...
The next day was a day off, no need to go to the lab. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Clara Sterling, after many busy days, finally had time to relax.
Silas Sheffield said he would take her to the ranch for horse riding.
Silas Sheffield’s private horse ranch was located on the outskirts of Veridian, with vast fields of neatly trimmed grass and a series of low hills beyond the distant fences.
By dusk, the setting sun’s afterglow lost its intense glare, casting a soft golden light over the meadow.
Clara Sterling got out of the car with Silas Sheffield.
The view before her was far more expansive than she’d imagined. The breeze lifted the loose strands of hair by her ears, dispersing the days of accumulated gloom in her heart.
Today, Silas Sheffield wore a light gray casual shirt, his sleeves casually rolled up to his forearms, exposing his sleek wrists.
Behind his gold-rimmed glasses, his eyes were much softer than the cold gaze he usually had in business, "Do you like it here?"
Clara Sterling nodded, her gaze curiously sweeping over the vast fields and the stables not far away.
"It’s beautiful. It’s my first time in a place like this. I’ve only seen it on TV before."
Silas Sheffield’s lips curved into a faint smile as he gently brushed her wind-tousled hair, his actions both natural and tender, "This is my private ranch. If you like it, you can come often."
Clara’s eyes smiled, "Sure."
As they were talking, a man’s voice came from behind them, "Silas, Clara, I’ve finally caught up with you!"
Kevin Kensington walked over quickly, with a pretty girl by his side.
The girl wore a light purple dress, her long hair softly draped over her shoulders, and a gentle smile on her face, looking elegant and demure, the epitome of a charming beauty.
"This is Wendy Sullivan, my girlfriend," Kevin Kensington said, wrapping an arm around the girl’s shoulder. "Wendy, this is Silas Sheffield, the president of Sheffield Group, my good friend, and next to him is his wife, Clara Sterling."
Wendy Sullivan nodded politely, her voice soft, "Hello, Mr. Sheffield, Mrs. Sheffield."
"Since you’re Kevin’s girlfriend, there’s no need to be so formal. Just call me Clara," Clara Sterling replied with a smile, feeling a bit of affection toward Wendy’s gentle demeanor.
Kevin Kensington had mentioned bringing his girlfriend today.
Clara Sterling heard from Silas Sheffield that Kevin’s girlfriend’s family background was vastly different from his own.
Kevin Kensington seemed to be upfront about it, knowing they wouldn’t have a future together, and initially, he didn’t intend to introduce her to his friends.
But today, for some reason, he brought her along, acting out of character.
Clara Sterling thought maybe Kevin genuinely had feelings for this girl.
At this point, Ethan Fuller also approached, wearing a black polo shirt, exuding a stable aura. He nodded at Clara Sterling as a greeting, his gaze turning to Silas Sheffield, "The people at the ranch have prepared the horses. Shall we take a look?"
Silas Sheffield nodded and turned to Clara Sterling, "Would you like to choose one?"
Clara hesitated a bit and said softly, "I don’t know how to ride."
"That’s okay, I’ll teach you," Silas Sheffield reassured warmly, "Let’s choose a gentle one."
