Chapter 192: Chapter 192: Who Was the Person in the Dream

Perhaps it’s because she spent a month in Crestwood, getting used to the climate and environment there.

On the day Clara Sterling returned to Veridian, she found it a bit hard to adjust.

At night, Clara lay on the familiar and comfortable bed in the master bedroom after her bath, completely sleepless.

This master bedroom used to be Silas Sheffield’s room.

After she and Silas started living together, they have been sleeping here ever since.

Silas, after his bath, went to the study, saying he had some work to deal with.

Unable to sleep, Clara simply picked up her phone and started playing a game.

It had been a long time since she last played a game.

After logging on, Sophie Sheffield sent a duo queue invitation, which Clara clicked to join.

Inside the game room, Sophie spoke through the mic, "Just out of the hospital and already gaming?"

"I’m a bit insomniac after returning to Veridian, thought I’d play a few games."

Sophie asked, "Where’s my brother?"

"Busy working in the study."

"Such a workaholic," Sophie chuckled, "You’re just in time, I’ve just lost four games in a row and my rank dropped, you can help me rank up, and since you haven’t played for a while and your rank dropped, we can duo queue."

Clara remarked, "I haven’t played in ages, as long as you’re not afraid I’ll drag us down."

"No worries, I trust your skills, and besides, aren’t you just destroying low ranks?"

"Alright then, let’s start."

They played four games in a row, winning all of them, and Clara performed outstandingly, earning MVP in each game and bringing Sophie back to her original rank.

"I’m sleepy, gotta go to sleep now," Sophie yawned and said, "Are you feeling sleepy?"

After playing a few games, Clara felt even more awake instead of tired.

"I’m not sleepy yet, you go ahead, goodnight."

"Goodnight, Clara," Sophie logged off.

Clara also logged out of the game.

Silas still hadn’t returned to the room.

She checked the time; it was already past one in the morning.

Recently, the Sheffield headquarters was moving from Crestwood to Veridian, and at the same time, the business battle between Sheffield and the Tate Group had begun.

Silas was busier than usual.

Clara got out of bed, stepped into her slippers, and went to the study.

The door to the study was ajar, leaving a gap with a warm light spilling out.

Just as Clara was about to push the door open, she heard Silas’s voice inside, "Don’t let them leave Country M so easily."

The man’s voice was low and cold, tinged with a chill.

Clara’s hand paused at pushing the door.

Then, she heard Silas ask, "How’s the investigation on the car accident going? Any new developments?"

She couldn’t hear what the other side said, but Silas replied, "Keep investigating."

"Knock, knock," Clara tapped on the door twice.

"Come in."

Clara pushed the door open and walked in, softly asking, "It’s past one, aren’t you done yet?"

"Just finished, was about to head back to sleep," Silas put down his phone, wrapped his arm around Clara’s waist, pulling her close.

"I’m a bit insomniac," Clara settled on his lap following his pull, "Maybe I’m just too used to living in Crestwood, a bit hard to adjust back."

In summer, both places are hot.

The difference is, Crestwood is more humid with rain, while Veridian’s climate is quite dry.

"Let’s sleep together," Silas picked her up horizontally.

Both had already bathed.

Clara wore a white silk camisole nightdress, the fabric smooth and thin, her body pressed tightly against his as he held her.

Silas’s pajamas were also light and thin.

The two layers of thin fabric transmitted the heat of their bodies.

The scent of milk-scented shower gel slipped into the man’s breath with his inhalation, his Adam’s apple bobbing.

Back in the bedroom, everything unfolded naturally.

The man’s kisses were burning and intense, the eyes under his gold-framed glasses were deepened with desire.

Clara’s heartbeat skipped in his profound dark eyes.

Even after all these years, she was still captivated by his face.

Clara wrapped her arms around Silas’s neck, stood on tiptoe, and kissed him back.

It had been twenty days since they last made love; they both desperately longed for each other.

Silas lifted her leg and pressed her against the wall.

They pressed against each other, their heated breaths entangled, feeling each other’s warmth through their skin.

The moon shadow was like a hook in the sky, the moonlight like silver, and the cold moonlight spilled through the glass window, covering the ground.

The room was not lit.

Neither of them spoke.

Love and desire flowed beneath the silken moonlight.

At the height of passion, Clara slipped her hand into Silas’s hair, tilting her face up, giving him the most fierce response.

Under the moonlight, her eyes were as enchanting as silk, reflecting the man’s passion.

Afterward, Clara leaned against Silas’s chest, slightly panting.

Silas gently kissed her forehead, "Sleep."

Clara, exhausted to the point of dizziness, vaguely recalled the dream she had when she was in a coma after the car accident.

She raised her face, "I remembered something a bit spooky, I had a dream while I was in a coma in the hospital."

Silas looked down at her, eyes filled with contentment, "What dream?"

Clara recalled, "I dreamed of a childhood friend from elementary school, that little girl drowned accidentally while playing by the river at age ten that summer."

"I dreamed she was holding a string of candied haws, asking me to play with her. She led me to the riverbank and pointed across the river, telling me it was another world."

"Just when I was about to cross the river with her, suddenly a very beautiful woman pulled me back, telling me to go home, saying my family and friends were all waiting for me."

"Strangely, after these words, I seemed to regain a little consciousness in the dream, realizing vaguely that I was dreaming, and sensing that if I crossed that river, I might never come back."

Silas’s heart clenched at those words "never come back," as that feeling of panic and fear returned.

He tightened his grip on Clara’s hand, throat taut, "You are so kind, heaven is reluctant to take you away."

Clara added, "The woman in the dream was very beautiful, when she looked at me, I felt calm, gradually regaining my consciousness. I can’t remember her face anymore, but I remember she had a teardrop mole under her left eye."

Silas’s eyes trembled, "Teardrop mole?"

"Yes," Clara said, "The impression of that dream was so deep, it felt so real, after waking up I instinctively tried to recall her face but couldn’t, only that teardrop mole and her gentle voice."

Silas frowned slightly, remaining silent. Clara noticed his hand trembling slightly.

"What’s wrong?" Clara noticed something unusual about Silas.

Silas spoke with a hoarse voice, laden with sorrow, "Speaking of a teardrop mole under the left eye, I am reminded of someone."

"Who?"
