Chapter 777: Chapter 777: Not Quarreling with the Sick

Nora Northwood adjusted her breath and secretly told herself: Don’t argue with someone who’s sick!

After mental preparation, she spoke up, "Uncle Kevin asked me to help by bringing you some cold medicine. You must have a fever; you kept holding my hand and wouldn’t let go just now."

Jasper Sinclair lowered his lashes, pondering something.

After a while, Nora spoke again, "Your fever looks pretty serious. I’ll have a car prepared and we’ll go to the hospital for a check-up."

"I don’t like hospitals."

Upon waking up, Jasper was already in the hospital and stayed there for over half a month. Getting him to return to that room filled with the scent of disinfectant was truly challenging.

"When you’re sick, you need to see a doctor. Don’t you even know that basic knowledge?" 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

Nora couldn’t help it and lost her composure...

"The smell of hospitals is unpleasant; I can take medicine at home."

Perhaps people are more fragile when sick, as Jasper spoke a few more words than usual.

In the past, the two of them would surely start arguing over some trivial matter.

Finally, Nora came up with a compromise and arranged for a private doctor to visit.

Her goal was not just about the fever and cold, but mainly because of Jasper’s mind... It wouldn’t be good if he ends up having a brain fever!

If his brain truly was affected, surely no one would want him anymore.

That thought made Nora a bit gloating, until a voice interrupted her imagination.

"Seems like you’re very happy about my illness."

Nora snapped back to reality, blinked, and feigned innocence, "I thought I wasn’t showing it that obviously."

Bantering has become their common way of interacting, almost invisibly.

Jasper’s eyes, like fog, gazed at her for quite a while, then admitted defeat and softened, "Give me the medicine."

"Get it yourself."

The medicine and the cup were right on the nightstand; if Jasper reached out, it wouldn’t take much effort to get them.

Yet he insisted on having Nora’s help, seeming as though he wouldn’t take the medicine unless she did.

"I’m sick and need to be taken care of."

"I’ll have Uncle Kevin come over."

"It’s you who are my wife."

The two exchanged words back and forth, and after saying more things, Jasper felt somewhat reinvigorated.

Ultimately, adhering to the principle of not arguing with someone sick, Nora helped him with the medicine and water.

But then, Jasper started to push his luck.

"I still want to sleep. Stay with me for a while." He wasn’t using a tone of negotiation.

Nora flatly refused without thinking, "How old are you to still need someone to lull you to sleep? Aren’t you ashamed to say that?"

"Once I fall asleep, you can leave."

Jasper didn’t care whether she agreed or not and directly pulled her into his embrace. Then, worried that the sickness might pass to her, he turned his head.

Nora struggled forcefully, "I don’t want to sleep with you!"

Unfortunately, her strength was too little, and her struggle yielded no results.

Jasper unhurriedly explained, "You brought me back to the country, and I caught a cold in the rain because of you. You have to take responsibility for me."

"I’ll find someone to send you back to Melbourne right now."

"I’m not going back."

Jasper held her tightly, the silk quilt covering them, adding a touch of ambiguous atmosphere in the room.

Nora was restrained by a pair of strong arms, forced to feel his breath spilling over her, causing her heartbeat to inexplicably accelerate.

For a moment, Nora forgot where to put her hands and feet, and could only stiffen from head to toe.
