Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot-Chapter 787 - 786: Husband, Wife.
She had thought he was unaware.
Maxwell Peary nodded. Only then did he realize that, with her eyes covered, she couldn’t see him.
"I just found out."
He was exhausted. After Nia Mitchell left, he hadn’t been able to sleep at all. So, he had casually looked into what she had been doing these past few days. Only then did he discover that such significant incidents had occurred: a robbery, an assault, and even her father being stabbed! All these events were brought to light, one after another.
She... She must have been terrified.
That’s why there had been so many missed calls on his phone back then. He never expected such things to happen.
Belinda Swan! I will definitely not let the Swan Family off the hook.
"It’s all in the past," Nia Mitchell muttered, her voice lacking its usual vitality. She had been through so much recently.
Maxwell Peary didn’t remove the towel, still covering her eyes. In that position, he immediately moved closer.
His kiss came, hot and assertive.
"MMH..."
Nia Mitchell was startled. In the darkness, unable to see anything, the sudden kiss had frightened her. However, she quickly adapted.
Maxwell Peary slowly removed the towel, tossing it aside, and gently held her cheeks with both hands.
"Don’t be afraid, I’m back."
These were the words she had waited over half a month to hear. Upon hearing them, warmth filled her eyes, and tears began to fall.
"Uncle!"
She wrapped her arms tightly around his neck.
"Don’t be scared. Don’t be scared anymore..." He gently patted her back, his heart aching for her.
"Yes, I’m not scared anymore..."
Because you’re back.
Maxwell Peary had unknowingly taken up her entire heart. Even if she didn’t acknowledge it, she couldn’t deny this fact. It was as if he had become the most important landscape in her life, a place where she willingly took root, content to stay and not venture forward.
"Nia, I’ll always be by your side from now on."
This time, he had left in such a hurry because he learned Yancy Hastings had disappeared. He felt deeply sorry for leaving her to bear everything alone.
"Mm-hm." Nia Mitchell nodded, and they held each other tightly.
By the time they went downstairs, it was already past four in the afternoon.
Maxwell Peary led Nia Mitchell to the Dining Hall, where they sat together to eat.
"Later, I’ll accompany you to the Hospital."
Nia Mitchell was stunned. She suddenly remembered what Molly Harguez had said at noon.
"There’s no need. You should rest well."
"No, it’s a matter of courtesy."
Although Maxwell Peary’s expression remained unchanged, Nia Mitchell could sense his underlying meaning. He was the renowned Young Master Peary of Capital Town, a man who didn’t even show deference to his own father. Yet, despite being clearly tired and having much to deal with, he was still concerned about her family members in the Hospital.
Nia Mitchell lowered her head, her gaze falling on the porridge in her bowl, her emotions complex.
"Thank you, dear."
Maxwell Peary flinched, his head snapping up to look at Nia Mitchell. He could hardly believe his ears.
What did I just hear? Husband? Did Rabina Mitchell just call me husband?
"You’re welcome."
A faint smile touched the corners of Maxwell Peary’s lips as he reached out to cover her small hand, which rested on the table, with his own.
"My dear."
His gaze was scorching, leaving her no room to evade, as he stared intently at her.
Nia Mitchell blushed and tried to pull her hand away, but she couldn’t overcome his strength.
"Let go of me! Hurry up and eat," Nia Mitchell said, feigning anger with a stern expression.
