Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot-Chapter 785 - 784: Is this avoiding seeing?
Soon, Mr. Mitchell and Molly Harguez returned.
"Why are you so late today?" Molly started complaining the moment she walked in.
Nia paused, noticing her father’s apologetic expression, and decided not to take Molly’s words to heart.
"Just as we were about to come over, Maxwell Peary returned, so I chatted with him for a bit," Mr. Mitchell explained.
Nia didn’t mention Yancy Hastings; after all, to her parents, he was a stranger.
Molly froze. Maxwell is back? It had been a long time since she’d heard Nia mention that man’s name.
Previously, Mr. Mitchell had often asked, but Nia always said Maxwell was on a business trip and hadn’t returned. They had initially thought Maxwell was upset because of their visit and was deliberately avoiding them. So he really hadn’t been in Capital Town after all! Molly realized.
"He’s back, and he doesn’t even know to come visit?" Molly began to grumble. "Since he’s back, he should have come to the hospital. After all, his wife’s family is all here."
"He’s too tired, and he has to adjust to the jet lag," Nia immediately interjected.
Mr. Mitchell nodded. "Just eat and talk less," he told Molly.
Molly paused and raised an eyebrow. Fine, don’t say anything then, she thought. He only cares about his precious daughter, willing to risk even his own life for her.
"Since he’s back, you should go home early," Aldy Mitchell, who was lying to one side, suddenly spoke up.
Nia turned to look at him, a little surprised by his words.
"Yes, Aldy’s right," Mr. Mitchell immediately agreed. "The young couple has been apart for so long; naturally, they have a lot to talk about. Besides, there’s nothing much left to do here at the hospital."
"Go on, go on. Don’t hang around here annoying me," Molly chimed in.
Nia’s expression turned awkward for a moment, then she nodded. "Alright, I’ll head back in a bit."
The family of three—Mr. Mitchell, Molly, and Aldy—ate their meal cheerfully, but Nia suddenly felt like an outsider.
"Sis, are you and your husband getting along well?" Sensing her awkwardness, Aldy suddenly asked.
Nia was momentarily stunned, then smiled. "Huh? We’re doing great. He takes very good care of me." Maxwell has always been very considerate, she thought. Although he wasn’t here when this happened. Judging by his behavior at noon, he probably still doesn’t know Dad was injured. Otherwise, he definitely would have asked. It’s better that he doesn’t know; the matter is resolved anyway.
Just a few days ago, the D City Chief of Police had called to say the culprits had been found and had confessed everything. Of course, the Chief didn’t mention anything about a hired attacker. So, they probably haven’t traced it back to Belinda Swan.
Seeing Nia lost in thought, Aldy didn’t press further.
"Sis, what university do you think I should apply to? I want to study in Capital Town too," Aldy said, voicing his quiet hope. "Capital Town is so prosperous and developing so quickly, and the education here is top-notch."
"You want to apply to a university in Capital Town?" Molly immediately asked in surprise. Apparently, neither she nor Mr. Mitchell had known about this.
"Yes. Actually, I originally wanted to apply to Capital Town University, but I was afraid I wouldn’t get in," Aldy admitted. Back in school, with teachers guiding the review sessions, he might have stood a chance. But now, studying on his own, he lacked confidence.
