Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot-Chapter 643 - 642: Uncle Peary, We’re Breaking Up
The CEO, ever the businessman, had actually called her a reward.
HISS!
Nia Mitchell’s teeth clenched with anger. She was not a reward!
"Uncle, I’m not talking to you anymore."
Break off ties, break off ties, break off ties! she thought. Important things must be said three times.
And so, Nia Mitchell fell silent. She didn’t even glance at Maxwell Peary, just gazed out the window.
The sky gradually darkened and city lights began to twinkle. Maxwell Peary drove steadily.
Nia Mitchell stared out the window, the myriad lights blurring before her eyes, and soon, she fell asleep.
Hearing the steady breathing of Rabina Mitchell beside him, Maxwell Peary carefully closed all the windows and turned on the heater.
「At their mountainside Villa--」
After parking the car, Maxwell Peary sat in the driver’s seat, looking at his sleeping wife.
Asleep, she looked like a defenseless child. Just looking at her, he felt a sense of serenity. She looked so perfect it felt wrong to touch her. Ever since he met her, his entire life had changed. He’d lost his previously flamboyant personality and his old fearlessness—that feeling of being afraid of nothing and no one. It was as if she were ingrained in his very bones. His gaze followed her, never leaving her, not even for a moment; he felt uneasy if he couldn’t see her. He felt... he had fallen for her. Alarm bells sounded in his mind. He began to feel insecure, constantly worried about losing her. Today, Nia Mitchell had gone out with EdbertNia Mitchell. He had become even more wary, viewing all other men as potential rivals. And that White Swan in his Office Room was even more of an eyesore. He suddenly realized he hadn’t given her a single thing yet. But that would change soon. The diamond ring he’d had custom-made shortly after their marriage was almost ready. When it was, he would give it to her himself.
Drowsily, Nia Mitchell woke up. The moment she opened her eyes, she saw the CEO staring at her, lost in thought.
"What are you doing?"
Nia Mitchell frowned. How strange. Being stared at by him like that gave her the creeps. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"Looking at Mrs. Peary."
His voice was relaxed, completely unlike how he sounded in the Office Room.
"I should really take a picture of you like this and show it to the world. Let everyone see what Young Master Peary, who’s rumored to keep people at arm’s length, is actually like in private."
Nia Mitchell harrumphed. After speaking, she opened the car door and got out.
A gust of evening wind blew past. Nia Mitchell shivered, feeling a bit cold, and immediately dashed into the house.
Frederick Goldsmith was in the Living Room. When he saw Nia Mitchell, he immediately came forward to greet her.
"Young Madam."
Nia Mitchell smiled sweetly, dutifully changed her shoes, then darted over to the fruit bowl.
"There are so few strawberries today!"
Nia Mitchell pouted, a bit displeased, but still picked up the few remaining strawberries and ate them.
"Young Madam, these strawberries are air-freighted from overseas. Today, that flight encountered a severe thunderstorm, so the plane couldn’t take off."
Frederick Goldsmith explained. Nia Mitchell paused, a strawberry halfway to her mouth.
She had always thought these strawberries were grown in Capital Town! From abroad! The two words made her head spin. Then how much must a single strawberry cost? Oh my god!
Just then, Maxwell Peary walked in. He stood in the Entrance Hall changing his shoes and noticed Nia Mitchell’s thunderstruck expression, which made him a bit curious.
"What’s the matter?"
Nia Mitchell turned her head, her face a mask of dismay.
"Uncle, these strawberries must be very expensive, right?"
She didn’t dare eat any more.
Maxwell Peary raised an eyebrow slightly. Expensive?
"They’re not valuable."
"But... these were air-freighted!"
It would be strange if they weren’t expensive! she thought.
Maxwell Peary walked over and sat down directly on the sofa.
"In places that are abundant in strawberries, would they be expensive at market price?"
"No."
"The airplane is privately owned by me, so there are no transportation fees. Do you still think the strawberries are expensive?"
"...It seems... they’re not... expensive..."
