Chapter 582: Chapter 581: Nia Mitchell, You’ve Gone Too Far

Yancy Hastings ran a hand over his face, feeling on the verge of a breakdown. He had to take a step back. "Alright, then you can join us too," he finally said to Maxwell Peary. If he wants to listen in, then let him, Yancy thought.

"I’m not going." Maxwell Peary shot him a disdainful look. What secrets could they possibly need to discuss? He had no desire to talk to Yancy Hastings, much less be alone with him.

Seeing this, Yancy Hastings was about to explode. You damn Maxwell Peary!

"Uncle..." Nia Mitchell tugged at his sleeve. What was he trying to accomplish by saying this?

"It’s okay. I’ll just go talk to him for a few minutes." Nia Mitchell had a feeling he probably wanted to talk to her about Fiona Sutton.

Fine, Fiona Sutton it is. After all, this was something she was very concerned about. Thinking this, Nia Mitchell intervened to stop Maxwell Peary’s difficult situation.

"Uncle, you stay here. I’ll be right back." After saying so, she let go of Maxwell Peary’s hand with a smile, then left with Yancy Hastings.

"Hurry up and say what you need to." Maxwell Peary could barge in at any second.

"Go ask Fiona Sutton what exactly I mean to her." At the mention of Fiona Sutton, Yancy Hastings looked completely dejected. For so many years, everything had been within his control—everything except Fiona Sutton. It was too much. That Fiona Sutton was simply taking a mile when given an inch, and yet there was nothing he could do about it. He couldn’t resort to force every time, could he?

"This is a matter between the two of you. Why are you dragging me into it?" She herself hadn’t figured out what she should do yet. Fiona Sutton was very upset with her right now, and she still didn’t know how to handle those things.

"Aren’t you her best friend?" Yancy Hastings glared at her, a little displeased by her refusal.

"So what if I’m her best friend?" Nia Mitchell retorted, shooting him a glare in return. "What does my good relationship with Fiona Sutton have to do with you? Am I supposed to pave the way for you? Just because she and Fiona Sutton are close, she should help him? No way!"

"How can you ignore your friend’s affairs?" Yancy Hastings was beginning to suspect. Is this Nia Mitchell really Fiona Sutton’s friend? The report couldn’t be mistaken, could it? Darn, this was truly perplexing.

"Fiona Sutton is my friend, and I’ll definitely take care of her affairs. But you’re not my friend, so why should I care about yours?" Nia Mitchell shot him a dismissive glance. What kind of logic was that anyway?

Yancy Hastings was momentarily speechless. So, she felt this was his problem alone.

Yikes—- This Nia Mitchell was becoming more and more sharp-tongued. But it was true. He was the one on the back foot in this situation, so he could only accept it.

"Even if you don’t sound Fiona Sutton out for me, you should at least show some concern for your friend yourself." Yancy Hastings looked at her, hoping she would agree.

However, Nia Mitchell—for some reason—was just... refusing today.

Damn it! They really are a couple, becoming more alike every day.

"I’ll care for my own friend. It has nothing to do with you. If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving." With that, she turned and walked towards the living room of the old residence.

"Go on, go on." Yancy Hastings waved his hand dismissively, clicking his tongue. He’d deal with his own problems. He would go to University A tonight. Even if he had to physically carry Fiona Sutton out, he would!

Indeed, a short-tempered Yancy Hastings would always be short-tempered.
