Seeing her so distraught, Ethan Martinez couldn’t imagine what she would do if something truly happened to Gerry Peary.
In his memory, Shirley Grant had always been a strong, cheerful woman with a constant smile.
But something had happened seven years ago; just a day before her wedding, news of its cancellation broke.
The Grant Family had called all their relatives to inform them of the wedding’s cancellation. No one knew what had happened to the family; they only knew that Shirley Grant never returned.
Shirley had only recently learned about the Grant Family’s relocation due to the demolition of their old home.
"The child is out of danger now. Rest assured," the doctor said.
Being Ethan Martinez’s friend, the doctor added a few more words.
"As his mother, I believe you understand the child’s current condition better than anyone. It can’t be delayed any longer."
Shirley Grant nodded. Hearing that Gerry was all right, she felt as if all her strength had been drained from her.
She slowly sank to the ground, no longer suppressing her emotions, and began to wail at the entrance of the Resuscitation Room.
Seeing her finally release her emotions, Ethan Martinez reached out and gently patted her back.
"This will all pass," he comforted, his voice also laced with fatigue.
After a full day of work and then dealing with this crisis, his body was indeed exhausted.
Gerry was soon wheeled out of the Resuscitation Room and taken to a ward.
In the silent ward, only the rhythmic BEEPING of medical devices could be heard.
Shirley Grant kept holding Gerry’s hand, her gaze fixed on his pale little face.
Ethan Martinez walked over and sat beside her.
"Do you still consider me your younger brother?" Ethan Martinez suddenly asked, breaking the room’s silence.
Shirley Grant looked up, somewhat surprised. She turned to Ethan Martinez, her pale, chapped lips moving slightly.
"Of course. If I didn’t consider you my younger brother, I wouldn’t have come to you at such a difficult time."
Ethan Martinez nodded, recalling his shock when he had seen Shirley Grant at the Film Set, her eyes red as she squatted to one side.
Her appearance had hardly changed in seven years. He had immediately and discreetly spoken to his agent, asking his assistant to take her elsewhere.
Only then did he learn that he actually had a nephew.
"Is this child Alan Morgan’s?"
He had heard something about the incident seven years ago, but since he was busy building his career abroad back then, he didn’t know many details.
However, being in the entertainment circle, he knew of Alan Morgan.
Shirley Grant paused. Seeing Ethan Martinez’s serious expression, she nodded.

"Does he know?" Ethan Martinez asked. It wasn’t his place to interfere, but seeing Shirley Grant in this state, how could he possibly stand by and do nothing? Shirley Grant was his biological older sister, after all!
"I didn’t tell him." Shirley Grant’s voice trembled slightly, and she didn’t know if her decision was right or wrong.
"He hates me; he’s always hated me. How could I tell him Gerry exists? And what would change even if he knew?"
At most, he would provide Gerry with the best treatment, but one outcome would remain unchanged. No matter what Gerry’s future held, it would have nothing to do with her, Shirley Grant.
"He is the child’s biological father, after all," Ethan Martinez said. Being a man himself, it was natural for him to consider things from a male perspective. If someone had secretly borne his child and not told him, he would surely go mad.
