Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot-Chapter 461 - 460: You Explain! Explain!
Time seemed to freeze. Charles Northwood saw the shocked expression on Fiona Sutton’s face and instantly regretted the words he had just spoken. But the words were out, and there was no taking them back.
"What... what did you just say?"
Fiona Sutton lifted her head in disbelief to look at Charles Northwood. The streetlight cast its glow on her face, making it look pale and ashen.
Seeing her like this, Charles Northwood felt a pang of regret and couldn’t bear it.
"She’s already married. It happened the day after that incident with Hendry Hampton."
That was also the day she originally planned to register for marriage.
Fiona Sutton suddenly let out a laugh, shaking her head continuously.
"Impossible. If she got married... impossible... It’s impossible she wouldn’t have told me."
Why did she have to hear this news from Charles Northwood?
"I also found it hard to believe, but it’s the truth."
Whether you accepted it or not, believed it or not, it was the truth.
"No way! Why didn’t she tell me?!"
Fiona Sutton couldn’t accept it. She roared at Charles Northwood, her voice raw with anguish.
"You can ask her. At least, she hasn’t given me a reasonable explanation either." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Speaking of which, Charles Northwood’s voice was also heavy with resentment.
"Who did she marry?"
Fiona Sutton was trembling all over, her hands clenched into tight fists.
"Maxwell Peary. The young, prominent figure of Capital Town, head of the MC Group. A rising star, standing at the very pinnacle of the social pyramid."
After hearing Charles Northwood’s words, Fiona Sutton dialed Nia Mitchell’s number.
No wonder she was able to find such a decent job so quickly.
Had she sent me to Star Media because she didn’t want me to know her husband was Maxwell Peary, afraid I’d want to join MC Group?
The mere thought that Nia Mitchell could harbor such intentions filled her with a sorrow that bordered on madness.
"Explain yourself!" Fiona Sutton screamed into the phone.
"I..."
Given the chance to explain, Nia Mitchell found herself at a loss for words. She could only sit there, defeated, as tears streamed down her face.
"I’m sorry."
Standing outside the car, Maxwell Peary smoked half a cigarette, then casually tossed the remainder onto the ground, ruthlessly grinding out the ember with his shoe. He knew he smelled of smoke, but he didn’t want to leave Nia Mitchell waiting in the car alone.
He took off his suit jacket and opened the car door.
"In a moment..."
Maxwell Peary had only uttered those three words before he noticed something was wrong with Nia Mitchell.
"Why are you crying?" Maxwell Peary tossed his suit jacket onto the backseat, his expression anxious as he looked at her.
"I’m okay."
Nia Mitchell shook her head. The line was still silent; she wasn’t even sure if Fiona Sutton was still listening.
Maxwell Peary realized she was on a call and quietly closed his door.
On the other end of the line, Fiona Sutton suddenly heard a man’s voice and, for a moment, couldn’t process it.
That man... that was her husband, wasn’t it? Maxwell Peary?
"Can we meet tomorrow?" Nia Mitchell bit her lip, struggling to hold back the tears welling up in her eyes.
Seeing her like this, her eyes brimming with tears she fought to hold back, melted Maxwell Peary’s heart.
"I don’t want to see you."
So, Nia Mitchell, just give me some time to digest this.
"At least, not right now."
With that, Fiona Sutton hung up and slowly sank to the ground.
Under the dim yellow glow of the streetlight, she suddenly burst into sobs, oblivious to the stares of passersby or to Charles Northwood standing beside her.
Seeing her suddenly break down, Charles Northwood quickly moved to her side.
"How could she? How could she do this? How could she..."
Fiona Sutton, usually so carefree, could no longer suppress her emotions.
This news acted like a fuse, igniting all the emotions she had bottled up recently.
