FLASH MARRIAGE; CHARMED BY THE RUTHLESS BILLIONAIRE CEO-Chapter 319: Fairy Godmother
Judith and Maria were standing by the upper rail landing, discussing, when the door to Sarah’s room creaked open, causing both women to snap their heads in that direction.
Amelia stepped out of the room, smiling like someone who had just won a lottery ticket. She closed the door behind her and walked over to the expectant mothers, still beaming.
"How did it go?" Judith asked, her gaze darting between Amelia and Sarah’s closed bedroom door.
"Splendid." Amelia clasped her hand, barely able to keep the excitement from her voice. "We talked, expressed some emotions, and now she’s good."
"That’s good news. Great job, sweetie." Maria gave Amelia a thumbs-up.
"Thank you so much, Amy." Judith embraced Amelia briefly before asking. "Can I go and see her now?"
"Sure. She’s expecting you."
"Okay." Judith’s face lit up as she hurried dramatically to Sarah’s bedroom door, making Maria and Amelia chuckle out loud.
"You have a way of putting a smile on people’s face." Maria stroked Amelia on the chin lovingly.
"Thanks, mum." Amelia’s shimmering eyes glimmered with happiness.
"So, what’s next? Are we going home now?" Maria asked as they both headed downstairs.
"Not yet, Mom. I need to do a few other things to fix you, know who."
"Hmm..." Maria pinched Amelia’s nose playfully. "Fairy godmother."
Amelia giggled. "That’s me."
"Now I understand why Henry had been gloomy ever since he came back. Such a love-sick puppy." Maria teased as they got to the bottom of the stairs, where Henry and Michael were waiting.
"Love has a way of playing with people’s emotions," Amelia said to Henry’s hearing, amused by the way he was acting so anxious.
"How did it go?" Henry asked, ignoring Amelia’s teasing statement.
"What do you expect from your fairy godmother?" Maria poked Henry on the side, grinning.
"Which fairy godmother?" Michael quirked his brows amusingly.
"You are looking at her in the flesh. Although my wings are missing." Amelia gestured dramatically, and everyone burst out laughing.
"But seriously, how did it go?" Henry queried when the laughter died down.
"It went well. She is fine, and she is with Aunt Judith." Amelia explained.
"That’s great news." Michael beamed happily.
"Oh, thank you, Amy. You are simply the best." Henry made moves to embrace Amelia, but Maria stopped.
"Save it for the right person. Don’t squish my grandchild."
Another ripple of laughter erupted.
"I thought I heard your voice." Hilary, who stepped out of the house briefly, walked in holding Sarah’s favourite ice cream brand.
"Hello, uncle." Amelia skidded over to Judith’s husband to welcome him.
"How are you, my dear?"
They both embraced warmly.
"I’m doing great."
Hillary greeted Maria and Henry before returning his attention to Amelia.
"Did my wife call you to come down here?" Hilary’s tone sounded slightly disappointed.
"No, she didn’t. I spoke to Sarah, and I knew she needed her big sister around." Amelia explained calmly, eying the branded ice cream takeaway bag. "Is that mint chocolate chip ice cream?"
"How did you know?" Hillary’s eyes widened.
"Have you forgotten she’s pregnant?" Maria giggled, knowing how much Amelia loved that particular flavour.
"Oh... Highly sensitive olfactory lobes. How could I forget?"
A ripple of laughter followed Hillary’s statement.
"Also, do not forget that Sarah, mum and cousin Amelia love the same brand of ice cream flavour, dad." Michael pointed out, laughing.
"Yes. That’s true... The three ice cream musketeers. Thank goodness I got an extra for your mother. I will have to explain to her that I was hijacked by a pregnant woman and made to release the ice cream under gunpoint."
A rib cracking laughter erupted in the room again.
Amelia had to hold her breath to avoid peeing on herself.
"Here." Hillary brought out one of the chilly ice cream cups and handed it to Amelia.
"Thank you, Uncle and don’t worry, Aunt Judith will understand," Amelia said, still laughing.
"Who could argue with a pregnant woman over food?" Maria backed her daughter-in-law up, causing another wave of laughter to hit everyone.
"So where is your mum, Mike?" Hilary asked his son.
"She’s inside Sarah’s bedroom," Michael replied.
"Okay, I’ll go check on them right now. Thanks for coming around, Amelia." Hilary excused himself from the sitting room.
"I’m coming with you, Dad," Michael called after his father.
"Mikey, wait a minute. I have something to tell you. Amelia stopped Michael and pulled him to the far side of the room, away from Maria and Henry. She whispered something to him, which brought a hypnotic smile to his face as he turned to look at Henry.
"Go now." Amelia nudged him forward.
"With all pleasure." Michael rubbed his hands excitedly as he hurried out of the sitting room.
"What did you say to him?" Henry eyed Amelia suspiciously as she came up to them.
"Something meant for only his ears." Amelia grinned mischievously.
"So, since we’re done, we can go home now, right?"
Both Maria and Amelia smiled as they conveyed unspoken words through their eyes.
"Not yet. Do you still have the shopping bag containing the chocolate I asked you to get on our way here?" Amelia asked, observing that Henry’s hands were bare.
"Oh.... I forgot to pick it up. It’s in the car."
"Go get it and meet me at the Gazebo in the garden. You can ask one of the servants for directions."
"Okay...." Henry drawled, wondering why Amelia wanted him to meet her at the garden with the chocolate she got for Sarah.
When it was just Amelia and Maria in the sitting room, Maria asked.
"He is meeting Sarah at the gazebo and not you, right?"
"Right!" Amelia beamed.
"Aww! I wish I could be there to watch them reconcile." Maria’s heart lit up with so much warmth.
"We can’t, moreover, I don’t intend to take this ice cream alone." Amelia led Maria to the mansion lounge, where they could both enjoy the outdoor scenery and enjoy the ice cream together.
Inside Sarah’s bedroom, Judith was furious after listening to everything Sarah had to say about Sebastian’s dirty move.
"How could I have been so stupid to think that young man was honourable?" Judith hissed, her brows pulled together in a deep frown. "To think I invited him for the next family Thanksgiving dinner?" She stood up, hands akimbo, tapping one foot on the ground.
"You did what?" Sarah’s eyes widened in alarm.
"I’m sorry, Sarah." Judith sat back down beside her daughter, stroking her on the arm. "The young man sounded so sweet when we first met. He would always call to check up on me and your dad ever since he got our numbers. Your dad and I thought he was a responsible young man. So we decided to invite him over for dinner. We thought it would be a good way to repay him for his kindness and solidify your friendship with him. I never knew he would do such a demeaning thing."
Sarah let out a deep sigh, exhaling through her mouth.
"It’s not your fault, Mom. I was also deceived by his simplicity and intelligence. I thought he was different from other guys out there. But like the others, he is a misguided young fellow. If it hadn’t been for Michael and Henry, who would have known what would have happened in that changing room?"
Sarah sighed, ruffling the edge of her sheet while pulling at a loose thread as she thought of what to say to Henry first when they met.
"It’s a good thing I haven’t given him the address to our house. I am so cancelling the dinner invite."
Just then, a knock on the door interrupted the mother and daughter’s conversation.
"Come in. It’s not locked." Judith called out.
The door creaked open and Hillary’s hand came into view, dangling a take-away bag containing Sarah’s favourite ice cream.
"Daddy!" Sarah stood up and hurried towards the door as her father revealed his face, beaming. He entered the room and close the door.
"Are you feeling better?" Hillary embraced his daughter, kissing her tenderly on the forehead.
Sarah nodded, beaming as she collected the bag of ice cream from his hands.
"Are you trying to bribe me?" She raised a brow, making her father chuckle.
"Maybe. Is it working?"
"Maybe....yes." Sarah kissed her father on the cheek and hurried to the bed with the ice cream. She open it and started licking it immediately.
"I hope you bought mine. Otherwise, you will be in so much trouble." Judith threatened playfully.
"Maybe if you had told me that you were expecting a pregnant woman who loves exactly the same flavour as you do, I would have bought the entire ice cream shop."
The trio burst out laughing.
Another knock on the door ushered Michael into the room. He was holding four different colours of shopping bags just as Amelia had directed him.
Sarah ran over to Michael and embraced him tenderly, thanking him for always being there for her and for loving her unconditionally.
"You’re welcome, sis." Michael kissed her on the forehead before handing over the shopping bags.
"Wow! Are those the things you got during your shopping?" Judith’s eyes sparkled with excitement as she joined her children at the door.
"Mom, this is for you for being an amazing mother." Sarah handed over the cream shopping bag to her mother.
"Aww!" Judith beamed, embracing her daughter before checking out the contents of the bag.
Sarah also gave her father and brother their own shopping bag, leaving out the black and gold crested shopping bag.
"I need you all to excuse me. I have to see someone, privately..." Sarah stressed the last word, knowing how nosy her mother could be.
"Okay!" Judith clapped her hand excitedly, already guessing who the fourth shopping bag belonged to.
"What did I miss?" Hilary asked, staring quizzically at his excited wife and son.
