The aftermath of the massive explosion at the gold mining field was a blur of flashing lights from firefighter trucks, blaring sirens of ambulance and local police automobiles and chaos.

The air was thick with the acrid smell of smoke, and a mixture of burning chemicals.

The screeching sound of the gravely injured worker being transferred from the chaotic scene to the ambulance was sickening and terrifying.

Emergency responders worked tirelessly to save more workers trapped under the rubble.

But the damage had been done.

The loss of life was a heavy weight that hung in the air, casting a sombre shadow over the scene.

The perimeter was cordoned off by the local police. But this didn't stop the local reporters, who had been tipped off by an anonymous whistleblower to storm the surrounding.

As daybreak gradually fell over the chaotic scene, the sound of an approaching helicopter caused an instant frenzy amongst the hundreds of reporters now gathered not too far from the explosion site.

Staring down at the crisis below from the helicopter, Blaze's heart sank at the level of destruction.

His heart pounded with fear and disbelief as he realized the severity of the situation and the ripple effect it would pose to his company and future.

"Why are the journalists here? I thought the sheriff assured us that the situation could be contained?"

Blaze clenched his jaw, tilting his narrowed gaze at Marcus, whose expression was both gloomy and fatigued from running around all through the night.

"Unfortunately sir, it seemed someone alerted them, while you were still speaking to the sheriff."

"What!" Blaze glared at Marcus in disbelief.

"Yes sir. I didn't want to bother you on the phone with such depressing information. So far, we've been able to keep the media away from the scene with the help of the local police and our private security. We have also planted our men amongst the media to find out who made the leak. We are also walking closely with the investigation team to find out who is responsible for this mess. We hope to get answers soon."

"What about the family of the investors that died at the scene, has anyone contacted them yet?"

"No sir. They are still in the dark." Marcus replied, taking off his seat belt as the helicopter finally landed at a heavily secure location, twenty meters away from the explosion scene, where a black-tinted SUV was waiting for them.

When they finally arrived at the explosion sight, Blaze hopped out of the car, to meet an overwhelmed stoned cold sheriff, approaching him.

"That is the sheriff handling the case, sir. The one you spoke to yesterday." Marcus alerted his boss.

"Mmm..." Blaze nodded, maintaining a frigid but solemn expression.

"Mr Blaze Anderson." The sheriff extended his hand which Blaze shook briefly.

"Sheriff Ross, thanks for containing the situation so far. My assistant has been giving me an update on your activities and I'm grateful to you and your men for your cooperation."

"I'm afraid I have some more bad news for you, Mr Anderson." The sheriff said in a deep regretful tone.

"The death toll had risen to one hundred and seventy-one. Someone has alerted the villagers whose husbands and sons were workers in this field. In a matter of hours, these angry villagers will be storming this area and if the situation is not properly handled, it could lead to more crisis."

Blaze exhaled through his mouth, wiping the bead of sweat gathering on his forehead.

"Okay, I will..."

"That is not all Mr Anderson." The sheriff cut Blaze off. "Words about this incident have already gotten to the state authority. According to my intel, they are sending a battalion of federal investigators to take over this matter. In a matter of hours, this case will be out of my jurisdiction and this might turn ugly for you since you are not a citizen of this country. I will advise you to start getting ready your legal department for a battle because something of this magnitude has never occurred in the history of this peaceful loving country."

Blaze could feel his heart almost collapsing at the sheriff's words. But he simply nodded and thanked the sheriff for the heads up.

Feeling a surge of adrenaline coursing through his veins, Blaze folded up his sleeves and joined paramedics in carrying wounded workers to the awaiting ambulance.

Country M, 7:30 AM, same day ...

Mrs Deborah Jones, a renowned legal practitioner and a mother of three adorable kids was out on her usual morning run when a hooded man mistakenly bumped into her.

"Hey, watch it."

Deborah barked, hurling curses at the man who didn't bother to stop and apologize.

The asshole didn't even consider the fact that he almost knocked her off her feet, as he continued running taking a left turn at the next bend.

Glaring at the disappearing figure of the hooded man, Deborah hissed, shaking her head.

She was about to resume her morning exercise when she discovered something weird in the pocket of her top tracksuit.

"Huh!" Deborah slipped her hand into her pocket and brought out a small portable new Android phone.

"What the hell?! How did this get here?" Deborah lifted her head, scanning her environment for any weird faces.

This wasn't her phone and she usually didn't carry a cell phone whenever she was going for her morning run except for a wireless earpod.

Then it dawned on her that she hadn't made contact with anyone except the stranger who bumped into her. He must have slipped a phone into her pocket while she wasn't paying attention.

'But why?'

Deborah didn't get to ponder much longer as the phone started vibrating in her hand. Her eyes widened in shock and her heart started hammering in her chest as she stared at the private number displayed on the phone screen.

'Could it be the hooded man calling?' Deborah wondered.

Sucking in her breath, Deborah tapped the green button and brought the phone to her ear, her hands trembling.

"Hello, who is this?"

"A friend. You need to know that your husband, Victor Jones is dead, eliminated by the heartless chairman and CEO of Andex group international."

"Excuse me!" Deborah's heartbeat quadrupled in a flash. "Who are you and why are you fabricating such lies?"

"Watch the video stored in this device."
