Li Yan grasped another blue prism crystal and without hesitation, once more sent his divine sense into it.

From an outsider’s view, his previous action was nothing more than picking up the white-core blue prism crystal floating in the air and setting it upon his lap after a few breaths, then picking up the other blue prism crystal and once again closing his eyes.

A few breaths later, Li Yan again placed the blue prism crystal on his lap, but this time did not open his closed eyes, instead taking on a thoughtful demeanor.

This appearance of his caused the hearts of those watching in the distance to involuntarily rise. By now, nearly half an incense stick's time had passed since Gong Chenying had allotted the period.

Other than the moment when he discovered the green gourds where his eyes lit up, Li Yan had either been frowning or sitting with eyes tightly shut, looking as if there had been little progress.

Gong Chenying pressed her lips tightly together. By this point, a thick layer of snow had already accumulated upon her body. She hadn’t even put up a protective barrier, maintaining her optimal state at all times ready to lead the charge into the snowstorm the moment time was up.

She had been watching Li Yan’s every move, and up until now, it seemed as though he had encountered some insurmountable obstacle.

Among the others, some were tense, some growing restless. The biting wind howled incessantly in this icy world, pressing heavily upon everyone's spirits.

Snow had gathered on Li Yan’s head and shoulders. From the outline of his face, warm breaths could occasionally be seen exhaling in slow puffs.

Time slipped by swiftly. Many of the cultivators who had been meditating had already awakened and joined the silent watchers, adding to the suffocating pressure in the air.

Just as the crowd began to grow anxious, and Gong Chenying’s heart sank to its lowest point - Suddenly, Li Yan moved!

The snow on his arms fell to either side. The pair of eyes beneath his snow-covered brows snapped open, shaking off a flurry of white.

He picked up one of the two blue prism crystals resting on his lap, now thoroughly frozen into blue shards and then did something strange: he placed the two blue prism crystals together.

What was odd was that when the two blue crystals were just an inch apart, Li Yan's hands seemed to meet a powerful resistance and could go no further. It was as if there was a strong repelling force between them, forcefully pushing them apart.

Li Yan’s eyes shone with even greater brilliance. His entire body surged with spiritual light, which burst through the snow on him in an almost hallucinatory shimmer. Snow cascaded off his arms and shoulders to the ground.

Yet despite this, the two blue prism crystals could not be joined. When he increased his spiritual power further, there came several faint cracking sounds ka-ka and hairline fractures appeared on the surface of both crystals.

Li Yan instantly withdrew his spiritual light, which then vanished without a trace. He brought the two crystals up to his eyes and examined them closely, releasing two threads of divine sense into each in turn.

A moment later, Li Yan relaxed. Although faint cracks had appeared on the surfaces, his movements had been swift and controlled, and his final burst of force had only been a quick release and retraction. As long as they weren’t further damaged, the crystals would still be usable.

Before the others could react, the two blue prism crystals flew from Li Yan’s hands and hovered in the air before him. He bent down, picked up a green gourd, and with a wave of his hand, the gourd’s stopper flew off.

Three rays of light shot out in an instant, striking the white-core blue prism crystal floating mid-air. A few breaths later, he slapped the bottom of the gourd, and the three beams of light at the mouth of the gourd vanished at once.

Li Yan reached out and caught the white-core blue prism crystal again, inserting his divine sense within. After a short pause, he nodded with satisfaction and placed it back on his lap.

Then, once more, he slapped the bottom of the green gourd. This time, four beams of light emerged and struck the remaining dark cyan-core blue prism crystal floating before him.

After another brief moment, Li Yan retracted the four beams of light and set the gourd aside. He then took the crystal from the air and sent his divine sense into it again.

A half breath later, he removed the white-core crystal from his lap and once again brought the two crystals together with both hands.

This time, the two blue prism crystals fused directly with a crisp pa! with no resistance whatsoever.

Only then did Li Yan exhale deeply. Turning his head to look behind him, a fresh layer of snow fell from his head and shoulders, nearly burying his cross-legged form halfway into the snow.

“Sixth Senior Sister, may I borrow your blue prism crystal for a moment? Don’t worry, it’s only for a look.”

Gong Chenying, like everyone else, had been watching Li Yan intently. Seeing him perform such strange actions and then request to borrow her blue prism crystal, especially after witnessing the near damage of the previous two, made it clear why Li Yan added that extra reassurance.

Though she didn’t know the purpose behind Li Yan’s strange maneuvers, she could tell that this little junior had made a discovery. Without wasting words, her hand flashed with light, and a blue prism crystal shot through the air toward him.

Li Yan smiled slightly and caught it with a single hand. A blue prism crystal with a violet core now lay in his palm. Without any delay, he picked up one of the crystals on his lap and attempted to combine it with the violet-core crystal, repeating his earlier actions.

In just a moment, when the two blue crystals reached an inch apart, they again repelled each other and failed to combine. Li Yan infused a slight amount of spiritual power, but upon confirming they could not merge, he abandoned the attempt.

He tried once more with another blue prism crystal and Gong Chenying’s violet-core one, again to no avail.

Next, Li Yan had Gong Chenying’s crystal float before him. He once again picked up the green gourd and, as before, slapped its base. This time, four rays of light emerged once more, though their glow was noticeably dimmer than before.

A few breaths later, Li Yan re-corked the gourd and set it back on the ground.

He took hold of Gong Chenying’s blue prism crystal and this time, the violet-core crystal combined smoothly with the others without pause.

At last, a smile appeared on Li Yan’s face. He turned the crystal in his hand thoughtfully for a few moments, then made his decision.

He turned and tossed the blue prism crystal back to Gong Chenying.

Then he stood up. The thick snow covering his body slid to the ground, burying his legs to the calves in an instant. He turned toward the others.

“Little Martial Uncle, did you discover anything…”

It was Hu Ziyi’s crisp voice that rang out first. There was a hint of nervousness in her tone, she hoped Li Yan had found the root of the problem so that Aunt Gong could plan the next step.

Though the others didn’t speak, they all looked expectantly at Li Yan.

“Hehehe… Why don’t you all take a look yourselves. But it’s best not to inject spiritual power.”

Li Yan didn’t answer directly but instead tossed two blue prism crystals toward Hu Ziyi and the others.

As the crystals flew toward the group, Gong Chenying simply watched, making no move.

The blue prism crystals landed in the hands of Hu Ziyi and another Qi Condensation disciple beside her. Both showed looks of surprise, but curiosity quickly overwhelmed them.

“Let me say this again, it’s best to use only divine sense to probe. Do not use spiritual power,” Li Yan warned once more.

Hu Ziyi and the Spirit Insect Peak disciple beside her carefully released their divine senses, under the curious gazes of the others.

But only moments later, the two withdrew their divine senses with confused expressions. Hu Ziyi seemed to be thinking as she handed the crystal to another person.

At that moment, the Spirit Insect Peak disciple who had probed with her suddenly swayed. Several nearby cultivators rushed forward, only to see the disciple’s expression drastically change, his breath was ragged, his mouth opened soundlessly, and the crystal in his hand was glowing with intense blue light.

The Qi Condensation disciples were startled. Several of them stepped forward to intervene when suddenly, a cold snort rang out, like muffled thunder across the snowfield.

As the snort echoed, everyone felt their knees weaken, nearly collapsing to the ground. The Spirit Insect Peak disciple fell with a thump into the snow, the blue glow vanishing instantly. The crystal slipped from his hand and floated in the air.

“You’d best stop trying to inject spiritual power. Even Foundation Establishment cultivators can only maintain a hundred breaths’ worth, how much spiritual power do you think you have to absorb anything?”

A voice as cold as ice echoed through the space, Gong Chenying’s face was like frost.

Everyone’s hearts shuddered. Only Li Yan still wore a faint smile, he had known this would happen.

Hu Ziyi had obeyed and only used divine sense, but clearly the Spirit Insect Peak disciple hadn’t believed the warning and had attempted to inject spiritual power after probing with divine sense.

Just like what had happened to Li Yan before, there was no time to call for help. All he could do was watch his spiritual power drain away. Fortunately, Gong Chenying had intervened in time.

By now, Li Yan could largely conclude that aside from himself, by using the Guishui True Scripture cultivation method, no one else here could absorb spiritual energy from the blue prism crystals.

Those few Qi Condensation disciples who had stepped forward just now broke into a cold sweat.

One glance at the Spirit Insect Peak disciple still sitting on the ground, face ashen and clutching a spirit stone while desperately absorbing energy, was enough to show just how grave the consequences had been. If they had joined him, their own spiritual power would’ve been drained as well.

After that, the probing process sped up significantly. No one dared to inject spiritual power anymore. Some who probed appeared contemplative, while others remained completely confused.

Soon, another question arose in their minds: how had this Martial Uncle Li known that spiritual power must not be injected?

There could only be one answer, he had personally tried it himself.

But when they recalled the image of that Spirit Insect Peak disciple gasping silently for help, their confusion only deepened, how exactly had Li Yan managed to endure it?
