First Demonic Dragon-Chapter 933: Fat Faces
Rather than winding up in a museum or an old storage locker, Kanami's search for one of her artifacts had taken her to a million-dollar home in London.
Even before entering, she already felt annoyed.
Some of it had to do with where she wound up, but more than a little bit of it was due to the prior unpleasantness with her brother.
As much grief as he had given her over the years for having a short fuse, who would have thought that his was just as short as hers?
'Hypocritical old bastard…'
Kanami grumbled to herself as she wandered up the steps to the townhouse.
Even before she knocked to announce her presence, the door was already opening, and an older man poked his head out the door to see why this strange woman was on his doorstep.
From his window, he hadn't noticed just how pretty Kanami's face was. It was only after opening the door and seeing her closer up that he realized exactly how charming she was.
He had his phone in his hand to call the police, but... he decided that maybe it would be more christ-like of him to hear the young lady out.
"H-Hello there..." The man leaned against the doorframe. "What can I do for such a... young and-"
Kanami shoved the old man in the face and sent him crashing onto the floor. She then invaded his home without waiting to be invited in.
'I mean, the nerve of him. Getting upset at me as if I am not just as upset by the situation as him..! Does he think it was any easier for me to see the descendants of our friends in that condition? No, it wasn't! Fucking bitch!'
"Ugh!" Kanami lashed out in frustration and punched a hole in the wall. It was a miracle she had managed to control her strength, or this entire house and everything within eighty miles would have come down with it.
However, in her anger, she incidentally ended up revealing herself to the woman of the house. An older lady covered only by a nightgown came wandering down the stairs.
"Bill? Are you down here having a rou-" When she laid eyes on Kanami charging up the stairs, her heart sank to the bottom of her slippers. "W-Who on earth are-"
"Your husband's a pig." Kanami's eyes glowed.
She charged past the woman without even looking at her. Meanwhile, the old woman entered a vaguely hypnotic state. Her eyes became listless and did not hold their prior life.
"I'm suddenly feeling a bit peckish...I could do with a crumpet or two..."
Kanami headed up the stairs unimpeded while the woman went to the kitchen.
The old couple owned a trio of bulldogs that were part fierce and part fluff.
However, none of them would even dare to come near Kanami. Instead they hid under the piano while trembling.
"..." But that didn't mean that Kanami didn't notice them.
-
"My older brother and I... we were always the best at using our bodies. Even among our tribesmsan we were... exceptional. Magical. For so long, our parents kept the truth of what we were as a secret between them.
It was my father's decision. He was something of a runaway and he feared that... the three of us would grow up to be like the kind of people he was running away from. Our powers, our nature has a tendency to make us... monstrous.
And maybe for a long time, my brother and I might've fit that bill. But our sister was always different from us. She was one with nature and with people. So gentle she seemed like an angel rather than a demon.
She inspired my brother with ideals of being the perfect leader. She motivated me to become like a great shield and sword. And for our parents... she was proof that even something dark could bring about an immeasurable light. You just had to want it bad enough."
The bulldog nestled in Kanami's arms could understand her perfectly, even if it did not fully grasp the complexities of what she was talking about.
Nevertheless, she listened. Even while drooling and licking her own chops.
"At a certain point, we realized that we had to leave. My brother had remembered who he was, and... destiny and responsibility called for him. Our family never even once considered letting him go alone.
On the day he had to leave, my sister left this behind. A handcarved bow made by our father, for the daughter who was too dignified to fight with her bare hands like the rest of us."
Kanami smiled bitterly at the artifact hanging on the wall. An ancient bow made from wood and leather. While remarkably well maintained, it seemed out of place sitting on a wall behind a glass frame.
There were other small south African artifacts here too, but there was nothing that even came close to matching the value of this.
It made Kanami a little watery eyed to see it again.
"I wonder... just what kind of face she will make when she sees you again, Windsong."
With a thought, the glass protecting the artifact shattered completely.
Kanami shifted the dog into one arm and grabbed the bow with the other. Feeling it in her hands again was so surreal that she almost swooned.
"I suppose I should be grateful to that bastard Percival in some capacity or another... if not for him, who can say if I would have come looking for this or not."
Kanami placed the bow into her own little pocket dimension.
Once it was safely secured, she looked down at the dog still in her arms.
"...You're a good listner. I'm going to take you home with me."
"Awro!?"
"Yes it's fine. There is no one under the sun or moon who could stop me from... actually, wait just a second." freeweɓnøvel.com
Kanami pulled out her phone and took a picture of the dog.
She then proceeded to text the picture to her husband and waited for him to respond.
Me: Can I keep? Attatchment: 1 image.
Head Doctor: Where did you get that?
Me: You're worried about the wrong thing, babe! Look at her fat little face!
Head Doctor: You stole it didn't you?
Me: It's more like a theft in progress actually.
Head Doctor: Kanami.
Me: Her owners smell like they're about to die in about six months anyway, so I don't see the harm! They won't even know she's gone!
Head Doctor: Kanami.
Me: She made me feel better when I was sad, okay?? She's a really good girl.
Head Doctor: ...Fine.
Me: *Kissy face emoji*
Kanami slipped her phone into her pocket with a wide smile.
"Come on, fat face. Let's go find your toys and then.."
In an instant, Kanami's good mood vanished.
She glanced out the window and at the lawn she had just stormed across.
Now, a group of large, hulking figures were following in her path and approaching the house.
As soon as Kanami saw who was leading the group, her smile melted into a venomous scowl.
Fat-face, who's actual name was Mimzy, had gone right back to being afraid of Kanami in the span of only a few short seconds.
"Chamge of plans here, Fat-Face. You're going to be staying in the house while your new mom handles some personal business..."
Mimzy would have wet herself if she wasn't sure that it would make her self proclaimed 'new mom' even more upset than she already was.
-
The demons crossed the yard tightly, in a uniform group of eleven.
Unlike other demons groups, this one seemed to have a clear leader guiding the others.
He was a large, fat demon with muddled red skin and beady black and gold eyes.
His horns curled from the top of his fat head like those belonging to a mutated sheep.
The demon had a tall figure- reaching almost a full seven feet in height.
His aides were of a similar stature or greater. As they trodded closer and closer to the home, the sound of their bitter laughter could've heard well into the night.
However, the demons suddenly paused when the door to the home swung open.
Immediately, the demons who had been so full of laughter before now ceased to find anything funny.
"Please, don't let me stop all of your fun. I'm eager to hear a good joke tonight. I've been in a rough mood, you see."
The demons began to tremble.
"T-That's..."
"My lord, you never said anything about her being here..."
"We were told that all of those siblings would be further occupied..!"
"All of you be silent!" The lead demon snapped.
He sighed as he slicked back his thin strands of greasy, wiry hair and showed Kanami a smile full of yellow teeth.
"Well... what a sight for sore eyes this is! Do you know who I am, little girl?"
Kanami blinked a few times before she shook her head and chuckled.
She closed the door behind her as she stepped down from the porch.
"Never had much of an interest in small fry. Be they big or small."
The demon's face twitched uncontrollably at that comment.
He let out a dry chuckle as he wagged a thick finger at her. "Naughty, naughty... You certainly don't have thatold coward's mouth, do you?"
A low rumbling of thunder erupted from overhead.
Kanami drew a comically large sword out of thin air and pointed it at the horde of demons.
"Congratulations. For talking abut my father in such a manner, I will be sure to kill you personally and with extreme prejudice. You will not forget this agony even in death."
The demon cackled obnoxiously as it held out it's arms for an embrace.
"Well come on then! Show your Uncle Mammon just what you can do!"
