Two men were standing a short distance from each other on a broken world.

One man wore a simple tan coat and black slacks over a white shirt.

He had a neat head of steel grey hair with a few splotches of it's original black color.

At his back there were upwards of forty men standing back at a safe enough distance to watch their leader begin the duel against his hated adversary.

On the opposite end of the field was a much more intimidating and regal looking individual.

Standin at 7'6 and with skin as black as the abyss, his opponent wore a regal white and gold robe over his shoulders. A long black skirt adorned with demonic markings covered up his lower half and the dragon that was more fearsome than any in the sky.

Elements of shadow and light seemed to be attracted to the two colors present within his hair; giving the individual an even more mystical aura.

His feet were bare as he tapped his foot on the ground impatiently; almost as if he couldn't wait for the duel that hadn't even begun to be over with.

Indescribable boredom could be seen on his three-eyed, impossibly handsome face.

Coincidentally, this man also had an entourage farther behind him.

Only this group was assembled in a circle as they muttered to themselves and dropped items on the ground.

…They were placing their bets.

"...You've ten minutes to give this your best attempt before I go home." Abaddon yawned.

His opponent's face became an unhealthy shade of red as the veins in his forehead were pushed to the surface.

"Don't put time limits on me, you foul creature!"

"Five minutes."

"DIEE!!!"

Just like in an old western, Director Nagumo flung his coat back and reached for two futuristic pistols strapped to his sides.

He instantly cocked back the hammers and pointed them at his opponent as he began running counterclockwise along the battlefield perimeter.

Once he pulled the triggers, two glowing sigils appeared in front of the barrel before shining blue bullets came booming through the air.

The projectiles fired from these particular weapons were special, in that they not only hurt inhabitants of the abyss, but they also grow in size proportional to the target.

Even if that opponent happens to be a 400-meter tall eldritch horror.

'Huh... I don't believe I've ever been shot at before. Neat.'

As always, the faithful elements acted and swatted the projectiles out of the air before they could harm their most precious chosen one.

Leaving the Director dumbfounded.

'What the hell was that...? He didn't do anything..!'

Despite his initial lack of progress, Director Nagumo didn't lose his fighting spirit.

He brought his two guns together and the nano machines inside reshaped themselves to form a sleek submachine gun.

Now, the rounds fired were not only coming out much quicker, but they had much more power behind them as well.

The elements tried to defend Abaddon once again, but the hail of powerful bullets easily broke through them.

'Hmmm...'

Abaddon's bladed tail swung from behind his back and knocked aside every projectile before it could touch him.

He inspected his tail afterwards, and while it was true that there were signs of scorch marks, they did not hurt and healed in under a second.

Abaddon could only assume the human, god, spirit, dragon, and demon aspects of his blood were sort of muddying the intended effect of the special bullets.

"Cool... Anyways."

Abaddon stomped on the ground hard enough to send huge chunks of it into the air.

His body spun around as he kicked the massive boulder in front of him with his right leg; launching it at the Director.

Despite his advancing age, Director Nagumo was still able to vault over the massive rock and launch his own counterattack while in midair; firing off several more shots before even touching the ground.

"I was worried you weren't going to fight back! Now this will be interesting!"

"For which one of us exactly..?"

Annoyance filled Director Nagumo's expression once again.

...He knew that they were mortal enemies already, but he really did hate this guy.

The sound of his gun going off filled the air as he launched countless more shots at Abaddon.

And eventually, he grew tired of it.

Abaddon picked up a rock no bigger than a baseball and bathed it in twin-colored lightning.

"That's getting annoying. Stop it."

With the same ease that a grown adult would use if they were lobbing a ball to a pee-wee player, Abaddon threw the rock at the Director's hands.

The rock not only smashed the gun to pieces, but the electricity transmitted shorted out the circuitry; preventing it from self-repairing.

'This son of a bitch..!'

Miraculously, the Director hadn't stopped moving despite the massive wedge in his plans.

He made a certain gesture with his hands and another bright orange sigil appeared; this one releasing a giant beam of energy designed to consume everything on the path in front of it.

'What a weird way to use magic... My Lailah will be so disappointed she missed a chance to study something like this.' Abaddon thought fondly.

With a fond smile on his face as he thought about the first woman he ever loved, Abaddon's body began to change.

He lost a bit of his height, his long hair, his horns, and his deep black skin.

Instead, what remained in it's place was a man with rich chocolate skin, glowing white hair and bright gold eyes.

Abyss Hunter magic is powerful, but it also has it's quirks.

That would be that it doesn't harm nature spirits or humans. Since they are both seen as 'pure' entities.

Abaddon forcefully altered his bodies genetic makeup until he was 100% spirit.

Meaning the destructive beam simply passed over him like he was the butt end slice of bread.

As soon as it was over, his body simply returned back to normal.

"It's just trick after trick with you, isn't it!?"

Abaddon stepped to the side by just a single inch and narrowly avoided an overhead swipe from a returning Director Nagumo.

The old hunter was back with a new weapon that Abaddon had yet to see; a technologically advanced katana that pulsed with a strange blue light.

With his first strike missing wildly, Director Shin quickly recovered and swiped horizontally, aiming to cut Abaddon's midsection in half.

He all but fell over backward when this impossibly large man int over like they were in the middle of a limbo competition and avoided the blade with ease.

Abaddon then back flipped away to safety, putting some much needed distance between himself and the director.

"If I didnt know any better I would think you were running from me, Abaddon!"

"Do you think those six idiots didn't tell me how you hunters do your best hunting?" Abaddon replied as he adjusted his clothes.

Instead of looking surprised that one of his trump cards had been found out, Director Nagumo looked amused for the first time.

"I see, so it's cowardice that has you running scared! I never thought you the type!"

Abaddon rolled his eyes. "I'll indulge you just this once... You've three minutes left by the way."

"Be silent!"

Abaddon appeared in front of Director Nagumo with speed he couldn't even hope to react to.

He raised his hand and made a flicking gesture containing enough power to total a tank.

But as he brought his hand within striking distance of the human, a glowing rune appeared right in front of the director's face.

'Yes!'

The reason why the hunter's have seen such great success is because of the use of a very particular sigil.

When they are about to be harmed by a resident of the Abyss, the magic activates and temporarily increases the power of the caster to the level of their opponent.

It has a short active period and it comes with it's own set of drawbacks, but by god is it effective.

And Director Nagumo had succeeded in taking it one step farther.

As his body glowed with a densely gold aura, a mad smile formed on his face as he stared at a frowning Abaddon.

"Ha! Can you feel it, Abaddon! I've discovered a way to utilize the supreme power of the very laws of existence so that I will not only gain your power, but you will lose everything you have as well! You're powerless!"

True to his word a dark purple aura suddenly appeared around Abaddon's body, and the shining light of his tattoos began to fade.

"...I see. It's a good thing I had this on hand then."

"Eh?"

Out of nowhere, a radiant white light was emitted from Abaddon's chest.

A glowing angelic symbol appeared and filled Director Nagumo's vision.

He was loosely able to identify it as the enochian word for humility.

Somehow, Abaddon was not only perfectly fine, but he was already back on the attack.

With his physical abilities emboldened, Director Nagumo could at least react to the blow that was coming towards his face.

He ducked just underneath Abaddon's fist and lashed out with a sword-swipe so fast and so powerful that it could've cut across dimensions.

Abaddon avoided the blow by the skin of his teeth just as he had been trained to do so very long ago by his loving wife.

It may have actually been the easiest thing he had done in recent memory...

Shin was fast now and everything, but.. they were the exact same speed.

And when dealing with Abaddon, that was far too slow.

He was able to slip past the Director's blade swipes with ease.

"I'm sorry, but you seem to have thought quite little of me. Did you think I was some blundering oaf with 'Superman Syndrome'?" Abaddon actually looked offended.

"You.. What??"

"Nevermind. My son would get what I mean."

Abaddon finally caught Director Nagumo by the wrist.

He applied more than enough pressure in just the right places to get him to drop his weapon with ease.

Abaddon's large leg shot off the ground like a catapult and his knee sailed directly into the Director's stomach.

As he was currently pretty sturdy, Abaddon was only able to bruise a few organs and crack a rib instead of destroying the Director's entire midsection.

But regardless, it still sent the director doubling over with a not-so small river of blood spilling from his mouth.

Abaddon grabbed the man by the back of his head and slammed him face-first into the rubble.

All with a minute and forty-five seconds to spare.

"I'm tired of playing with you. Can I go home now?"

Much to Abaddon's dismay, he couldn't leave just yet.

And if Director Nagumo had his way, he wouldn't leave ever.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the Director making certain symbols with his fingers.

Suddenly, four pillars of light shot up into the sky, and they formed a prison around Abaddon.

When he looked back down, the Director was gone- teleported outside the barrier and wheezing for dear life.

"...You are so fucking annoying."

The Director held up a middle finger and showed a bloody smile.

With the clenching of his fist, he commanded the box to shrink and crush Abaddon within.

This time, he was trapped.

Even if he couldn't kill him, he could still prevent him from teleport away with this special prison designed specifically to contain Uma-Sarru.

Even if Abaddon were to change his body's constitution now, he wouldn't be able to escape it.

The box continued to get smaller and smaller until it was the size of a Rubik's cube.

It solidified and became completely black in color; marking a successful capture and the end of a long battle.

Exhausted, Director Nagumo collapsed to the ground wearing a smile of sweet relief.

"Father... I have finally-"

*Thunk!*

"Ow!!"

Director Nagumo reopened his eyes to find the item that had been thrown at I'm sitting in his lap.

It was the prison cube.

"Your time is up. Pick up your damn toys before somebody trips on them. I'm going home."
