Fire Chief vs. Surgeon: A Tale of Relentless Pursuit-Chapter 720: Proposal Cake
Lu Jing certainly had no idea that a huge surprise was waiting for him tonight.
Jiang Ye remained utterly composed throughout the whole trip.
He didn’t take a long breath until he had escorted the person through the hospital’s main entrance.
Whether composed or not, he felt incredibly suffocated inside.
However, the corners of his mouth were involuntarily curling upwards, clearly, he was delighted from the bottom of his heart.
Before he could even catch his breath, his phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Captain Jiang, did you order the cake?"
Cake?
Damn, he had actually forgotten about that.
He couldn’t help but slap his forehead:
"I’ll order it right away."
On the phone, Lai Xingchen dared not sigh audibly, only silently criticizing in his mind: So, Captain Jiang has his flustered moments too, huh?
Tsk tsk.
"Yeah, I just wanted to say that we’ve finished setting up here. Captain Jiang, do you see anything else that needs to be done?"
This was a first for Jiang Ye as well, with no experience, wholly reliant on videos he found online.
"Nothing for now, you guys rest. Call me if something comes up."
"Oh, oh, okay, Captain Jiang."
After hanging up, Jiang Ye directly called the hotel under the Jiang Group.
"I need a cake at 7 p.m."
The call wasn’t answered by just some employee, but by the hotel’s general manager, whose heart tightened at the sight of the caller ID. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
He thought it must be something major. Otherwise, why would the Crown Prince suddenly call him?
Thankfully, it was just a cake.
Whew...
In less than three seconds, the manager’s forehead was beaded with sweat, and it was the middle of winter!
"Yes, okay, okay, understood, Young Master Jiang."
Jiang Ye also responded with a ’hm’.
The manager’s mind raced, and he quickly spoke up:
"Young Master Jiang, what style of cake do you need? What is it for?"
It was imperative to clarify, to avoid any mistakes.
Jiang Ye paused, not really knowing there were so many complexities in ordering a cake.
"Proposal!"
Proposal?
The manager wasn’t foolish and immediately realized that the Crown Prince was planning a proposal!
Instantly energized:
"Young Master Jiang, rest assured, we’ll handle it perfectly!"
A cake for the Crown Prince’s proposal had to be spectacular!
This was obviously implicit—didn’t even need telling.
If he couldn’t understand that, what was he even doing in his job?
Having received the manager’s response, Jiang Ye felt a bit more relieved:
"Hm, at 7, don’t be late."
"Won’t be, won’t be, rest assured, Young Master Jiang."
Who would dare be late?
He immediately instructed the kitchen to prioritize this task that afternoon.
....
Meanwhile, at the hospital.
It was still bustling with patients, too busy for even a sip of water.
An intern was calling out at the entrance:
"Number ten, is number ten here?"
After calling several times with no response.
"Is number eleven here?"
"Here, here, here."
"Come in."
There were over twenty appointments just for that afternoon.
Obviously, it meant working late again.
But, that was normal.
It wasn’t until around four o’clock in the afternoon that the outpatient hall finally quieted down a bit.
Lu Jing had also seen more than half of his scheduled patients by then.
Just then, a delivery person came in:
"Excuse me, are you Doctor Lu?"
Lu Jing nodded:
"I am."
The delivery person handed over the item:
"Doctor Lu, your delivery, please sign for it."
"I didn’t order any delivery?"
As he spoke, he moved forward to check the note.
Upon checking, it indeed was his.
Damn.
He had no choice but to sign for it.
