Chapter 695: Chapter 695: Don’t be afraid, I’m here

The man on the other end of the phone was anxious:

"What’s wrong? Wife, don’t cry first, calm down, and slowly tell your husband, okay?"

"Don’t be afraid, your husband is here."

"No matter what it is, your husband will always stand by your side!"

The man’s words seemed to calm the already distraught person down a bit:

"Jiang Ye..."

"Mm, take your time, don’t rush."

"Something happened."

Something happened?

Hearing these two words, Jiang Ye felt the hairs on his body stand on end.

"Mm, is it serious?" he tried to keep his tone as calm as possible.

"It’s serious, really serious!"

"Is anyone hurt? Where are you now?"

Jiang Ye was originally in the middle of a meeting in the headquarters’ conference room, but just a moment ago, he apologetically excused himself and left the room.

You see, at this very moment, the conference room was not only filled with the headquarters’ leaders but also with high-ranking officials visiting from above.

This act, undoubtedly, shocked everyone present.

The commander-in-chief called out several times, to no avail; the man paid him no mind.

It even scared the sentinel guarding the door quite a bit; when the sentinel saw who it was, he stuttered out:

"Captain Jiang!"

Jiang Ye originally didn’t want to respond but then went back:

"Where are the keys to the car downstairs?" he asked.

The sentinel was probably surprised for a second:

"They’re in the car." he answered.

Jiang Ye’s car was parked outside the headquarters; from here, he would have had to walk a considerable distance.

To save time, there happened to be a headquarters’ car parked right below.

He didn’t even take the stairs; he scaled down the building along the drainpipe, taking just a few seconds.

Ordinarily, just taking the stairs would have taken at least a minute.

Right now, Jiang Ye wished he could fly to his wife’s side immediately; every second was torment.

He continued the call:

"Wife, I’ll be there in ten minutes!"

Logically, from the headquarters to the hospital, even if the way was completely clear, it would take at least fifteen to twenty minutes.

But, when Jiang Ye said ten minutes, it meant ten minutes, not a second more could be wasted.

....

The people at headquarters watched as the car sped away.

The dust kicked up by the back of the car alone could tell you how fast it was going.

"What’s happening? Who is that?"

"Who else could it be? Great Demon Jiang, besides him, who else dares be so bold?"

Daring to be so reckless in the headquarters, are they tired of living?

But if it’s Demon Jiang, then it’s not so certain.

At this moment, Jiang Ye had no time to think about the various discussions of the people; once he was out of the headquarters gate, he pressed the accelerator to the floor.

He drove at the highest speed possible all the way, running red lights without hesitation.

Luckily, the car had government plates.

If it had been a privately registered car, he would have had a string of encounters with the traffic police by now.

If it weren’t for his last remnants of rationality, Jiang Ye might have triggered the siren already.

Once that siren went off, there would have been no negotiating the matter.

Cars all around made way, giving him a wide berth from a distance.

Ten minutes, and with just about half a minute to spare, the car stopped at the hospital entrance.

He got out, closed the door, and went on his way.

All along, he was not slow; he practically sprinted upstairs.

The emergency surgery room was on the second floor and someone’s stair-climbing speed was even faster than the elevator.

Coming out of the fire exit, he spotted her thin figure at once.

"Wife?"

Lu Jing thought she must have misheard, hesitating before turning around.

But when she saw that he had indeed appeared before her eyes, she couldn’t hold back any longer:

"Jiang Ye!"
