Find a Troubled Girl after leaving the Guild-Chapter 141 - 103: Duel with the Wrong Opponent
Zoe extended her hand to push the half-elf onto the bed.
"Ah! What are you doing?"
"Stop fooling around, I want to duel Li Ang."
"I’m fooling around?" Dorothy was exasperated, "Weren’t you the one who burst in here like a madwoman?"
The chestnut-haired girl said matter-of-factly, "Because I want to see what you’re up to. Whatever you do, I must do more."
"Fine, fine, you can do that."
Dorothy took a deep breath, stood up, her tone lowering, "And don’t duel Li Ang."
The half-elf pointed at herself, "Fight me instead."
"What?" Zoe was completely taken aback by Dorothy’s request.
"If I win, you’ll promise me what I proposed earlier—arrange time for us to be alone without the other interfering."
Zoe wanted to say something, but Dorothy’s tone grew colder, "If you only want to possess endlessly, I will endlessly destroy, like today, you won’t have a moment alone with him in peace."
Zoe furrowed her brows, deep in thought, then slowly nodded.
This time, Dorothy was very serious.
Usually, she avoided fighting if possible. Her determination now showed she was truly very angry.
Li Ang, wanting to stop them halfway, couldn’t help but notice this side of Dorothy for the first time; he had an inkling something bad would happen if he intervened. Since both agreed, let them have their way.
The location was his choice, and he picked a deserted place outside the city.
They arrived at a relatively flat and hard silver sand ground, the evening glow painting the surroundings a fiery red.
Dorothy stood gracefully in the evening breeze, wearing a light golden gown-like robe.
The chestnut-haired Zoe, with a shortsword at her waist, faced her from not far away.
"Since it’s not a life-and-death enmity, moves should focus on interrupting the other’s actions, and not intentionally inflict lethal injuries. It ends when one side is suppressed," Li Ang outlined the rules and advised Zoe not to summon the Earth Serpent, emphasizing that although Dorothy’s Demon-Born Flower is listed as a Summoned Beast, it is a part of her life, unlike the rules applying to the Earth Serpent.
The young girls nodded to each other, assuming a combat stance.
Zoe’s sword stance was very standard, while Dorothy merely bent slightly, stupidly standing there. However, she summoned the Demon-Born Flower Vine, the green vines breaking through the skin beneath her shoulder blades, extending and intertwining to form wings.
Originally, Li Ang thought he would be part of the combat; he even half-considered how a Tier Three Swordsman could fight, yet it turned out to be this scene.
He reflected on his own issues, deciding henceforth to limit his special relations only with them and avoid complex entanglements with other team members.
"Three, two, one, start."
Just as Li Ang’s words fell, Dorothy took a breath and said, "Come on, I hope you’ll learn to respect others later."
The vine wings flapped forward, throwing out small green bundles. As they landed on the sandy ground, they squirmed and grew into small vine monsters, white flowers blossoming at the top of their vines. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
The half-elf summoned no less than ten Demon-Born Flower Whippers, waving vine whips, shaking sword cores, charging toward Zoe.
"What are these things!" Seeing these little monsters for the first time, Zoe was startled.
But her nerves were sturdy; she quickly regained composure, the Wind Breath Sword entwined with Qi Blade, swiftly cutting out, immediately slicing open two or three Whippers.
The hacked Whippers didn’t "die," their severed vines reactivated, intertwining into a crooked, bizarre, yet still combat-capable form.
Zoe’s consecutive Wind Blade attacks did not eliminate all the little monsters; they continued to surround her.
Meanwhile, Dorothy’s azure vines extended, darting towards Zoe.
Facing multiple pressures, starlight emerged upon Zoe, Beast’s ears and tail appearing in a flash of dark blue, her outfit transforming into beast-skin short clothes and shorts.
"Where have I disrespected you!"
Twirling her slim waist, the girl swung red rune-wrapped sharp claws, releasing a sheet of ice that dashed towards her Whippers, freezing them simultaneously. She swept her sword horizontally, shattering them all into pieces.
Dorothy’s azure vine attacked from above, the foremost vine twisted into a sharp point, resembling an insect’s sting; it jabbed and retracted, seeking out Zoe’s movement flaws.
Zoe kept clearing the Whippers, the azure vine seized an opportunity for a rapid stab, only to be blocked midway by a suddenly formed brown earth shield.
"Alone time is precious, don’t you get it!" The half-elf shouted.
A cracking sound echoed, the sharp point of the azure vine pierced part of the Star Soul Earth Element Material Shield, wriggling vigorously, intending to penetrate through it.
Zoe quickly glanced at the earth shield, stepping down hard in dark blue beast-skin boots with exposed toe claws. She lowered herself beast-like, charging towards Dorothy’s main body.
Recognizing the high strength of the Demon-Born Flower Vine, she prepared to restrain the person directly.
Dorothy’s other vine wing swung towards the wolf-eared maiden, who brandished her sword in defense, yet was flung aside by the flower vine’s monster strength.
After rolling through the air and landing, Zoe rubbed the side of her arm that took the impact, releasing a low growl.
"I just want to be with Li Ang too; it was originally just us!"
She raised her hand, magic gathering, casting a spell.
Ice mist penetrated through the vine wing’s guard, taking effect on Dorothy.
"Ugh!"
The half-elf muffled a groan, cold ice coalescing and bursting repeatedly on her chest.
This was a Tier Two Elemental Master Skill: Elemental Pain.
Luckily, the Golden Sand Embrace Robe countered the Water Attribute, rebounding most of the icy explosions with its dense golden surface, only a small portion inflicted impact and low temperatures.
Dorothy pressed a hand to her chest, applying a Healing Technique, extending the other to aim at Zoe.
Holy Fire Technique!
The white purifying fire descended as if from heaven, striking the young girl before a new Star Soul Shield could form.
"How painful!"
Zoe gathered ice over her body to put out the holy fire, only letting it blister the surface skin, but it already made her grimace in pain.
Taking a deep breath, ice mist drifted from her lips as she continued exhaling and lowering her body, limbs touching the ground.
The spreading ice mist formed floating ice blades around her, resembling Eden’s battle-hardened Ice Blades in form.
Li Ang focused intently; this must be her Star Soul Secret Technique-Extreme Cold Punishment in ice wolf form.
The wolf’s tail swung, releasing a massive frozen qi towards Dorothy, encasing the remaining three Whippers running towards Zoe, enveloping the half-elf maiden.
Ice Blades shot out rapidly, some stabbing straight, others slashing across, some spinning into massive shurikens, collectively charging at the center of the ice mist.
The sound of breaking ice, snapping vines,
Dorothy spread her flower wings, white flowers bloomed on the vines, petals opening and closing like razor-toothed mouths, shaking sword cores, tearing and devouring the magic within the ice mist.
"Though I haven’t fought many strong enemies, it’s the first time I’ve seen the Demon-Born Flower interrupted." Dorothy remarked, looking at the sections of azure vine on the ground.
A Tier Three magic level, even with strong Star Soul Power, couldn’t completely compare to the pure magic materials of Eden’s Ice Blades. Reaching this point was already the limit.
"Then how about this!"
Zoe switched into Holy Snake Stance, white skirt fluttering, dark green hair and eyeshadow exuding an ancient mysterious feel.
She spread her palms, loosely gripping a sphere, a jeweled crown glinting with energy above her head, her entire body exuding starlight, converging with the crown’s radiance into her palms before unleashing a torrent of cyan energy.
This time, it was the Jadestone Beam!
Dorothy didn’t intend to take it head-on. She dashed forwards, the flower vine splitting apart, burrowing into the ground to pull her body, propelling her rapid displacement.
The Jadestone Beam swept in pursuit, blasting the silvery ground into white sand clouds, from the burst points shooting out many Wind Blades, several of which slashed past Dorothy’s side, cutting her exposed skin into bloody gashes.
Just stabilized, Zoe charged with a short sword, the blade wrapped in Earth Element, she swung it down like wielding a short club.
Though the flower vine swiftly withdrew to defend, it didn’t completely dissipate the impact. That "club" struck Dorothy’s forehead, making her see stars.
Yet the flower vine seized the chance, tightly entwining Zoe.
