Favorite of the Beast-world: I Got Rich Through Farming-Chapter 311 - 200: Braiding Pigtails and Getting Jealous Again
With a soft sound from the door, Gu Yin ambled into the room. His gaze fell upon the soft, beautiful female on the bed, and he couldn’t resist lying down on his side next to her, propping up his chin to admire her.
"What is it?" An Jin turned her head to the side. She was in a good mood, so her face was lit with a bright, energetic smile.
She casually placed a hand on Gu Yin’s face, pinching his handsome cheek. Her movements were as languid and graceful as a cat’s.
With her slender fingers, she then hooked a strand of his long, black hair and wound it into several loops. Gu Yin’s hair felt amazing to the touch, and she couldn’t resist starting to weave it into a small braid.
Gu Yin remained silent, letting her have her way with him. The entire time, he simply watched her with a gentle, doting gaze, a faint smile playing on his well-defined lips.
"Look, two little braids. Don’t they look good? My skills are pretty decent, right?" An Jin said with a chuckle.
Gu Yin was happy to indulge her. The corner of his lips curled up. "They’re beautiful." Though, in truth, he hadn’t even glanced down to look.
"This might be more comfortable." He fetched a rice-husk pillow and placed it under her head.
The pillow was filled with rice husks encased in a perfectly-sized cloth bag, which was then wrapped in several layers of fine, soft silk.
The fresh scent of the rice husks was wonderfully relaxing, and the pillow itself, neither too soft nor too hard, was comfortable and sleep-inducing.
An Jin let out a soft yawn, sleepiness welling in her eyes.
She naturally wrapped her arms around the man’s lean waist and rested her head on his chest, nuzzling against him. "I’m going to take a nap. Good afternoon, Gu Yin."
It was the perfect time for an afternoon nap, a habit she always kept.
"Alright," Gu Yin said softly. He casually pulled the nearby silk comforter over both of them. His lower body transformed into a long snake tail that slithered off the bed, hooked the half-drawn curtains, and pulled them completely shut.
The entire room fell into a silence as deep as night.
The female’s soft, shallow breathing soon filled the air, but Gu Yin felt no sleepiness at all. He just propped his head on his hand, gazing down at her as she slept sweetly.
Her eyes were closed, her long, curled lashes occasionally trembling. Her fair, rosy cheeks were as lovely as a budding flower, and every detail of her face was sketched with an intoxicating beauty.
Her long, smooth black hair fanned out over the snow-white sheets like lush seaweed, spilling across his arm and chest. With every tiny, subconscious movement she made in her sleep, the strands would brush against his skin, bringing a soft, tingling sensation.
Gu Yin couldn’t resist lowering his head to steal a kiss on her cheek. It was as light and fleeting as a dragonfly skimming the water’s surface.
Seeing that she was still sleeping soundly in his arms, completely unaware, he felt like a young cub who had just pilfered some candy. Unable to restrain his mischievous impulse, he leaned in and pecked at her full, crimson lips a second time, and then a third...
"Mmm..." Well, he had finally woken her. She rubbed her misty eyes.
"If you wake me up again, I’m kicking you off this bed," she said without a shred of mercy.
"Do you want to test how sturdy this bed is?" he asked, the question coming out of nowhere. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
"Huh?"
By the time evening approached, An Jin indignantly kicked him off the bed. A bundled-up pile of sheets and bedding immediately followed.
"Wash! All! Of! This! Thoroughly!" These were the brand new sheets and bedding she had just put on, and he had gone and soiled them on the very first day. Again!
An Jin didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. This snake was just too disobedient. ’Is it too late to just throw him out?’
"And one more thing! Get me some new bedding from the wooden chest in the attic. I need to change the sheets."
An Jin pulled the only remaining small blanket over her head, too angry to look at him. She clutched her aching back, absolutely fuming.
"I’ll wash them until they’re spotless. I’ll be right back."
The corners of Gu Yin’s mouth lifted. He was in a fantastic mood. He sauntered out the door, only to come face-to-face with a grim-looking Ling Hong.
The expressions on both of their faces froze for a moment.
This must be what they mean by the saying, "When rivals meet, their eyes burn with jealousy."
Ling Hong saw Gu Yin’s blissfully sated expression as he exited An Jin’s room. He didn’t have to guess what they had just been doing.
’It’s the middle of the day! That snake actually... he actually... And what’s more, today was supposed to be *my* day, but that cunning snake beat me to it and had his way with her.’
After a brief, charged exchange of looks, they both tacitly chose to ignore each other. The frozen moment thawed, and with a silent, mutual understanding, they brushed past one another.
Hearing the door open, An Jin assumed Gu Yin was already back. She poked her slightly flushed face out from under the blanket and blinked her misty, dark eyes.
"Oh, Ling Hong?" She instinctively glanced behind him.
Ling Hong came forward and gently turned her head to face him. He sat on the edge of the bed, pulling her into his embrace. His gaze lowered, darkening as it landed on her red, swollen lips.
He pressed his lips together, trying to suppress the sour taste of jealousy. But the mixture of her sweet scent and the lingering mating pheromones of the Snake Beast only made his chest feel tighter.
His gaze swept over her slender, exposed shoulders. The blanket had slipped down as she tried to sit up, revealing her collarbones and more of her fair skin.
"Stay still. I have something to tell you." He took hold of her shoulders again, pressing her back against his chest.
"Is it about Moon Wolf City?"
Ling Hong nodded. His tense expression relaxed a fraction, like a gentle spring breeze melting ice.
He bent down and placed a light kiss on her forehead before speaking in a low voice. "I’ve been staying there for a while. The city is recovering well, and I believe it’ll be fully operational again soon."
"That’s my Ling Hong for you! I knew everything would be fine if I left it in your hands~"
He let out a low chuckle. His gloomy mood vanished, swept away by just a few words of her praise. He couldn’t help but bend down and rest his head on her chest. "...So, can I get a reward, too?"
"What?"
"He just got a reward. Can I get one as well?" the man asked, his deep, magnetic voice laced with a hint of grievance.
"..." An Jin blinked. It took her a moment to realize that the "he" Ling Hong was referring to was Gu Yin.
’Why are both of them... so... so thirsty for her?’
"Ahem—" Her face flushed. Meeting his expectant, fiery gaze, she found she couldn’t bring herself to refuse. She wrapped her arms around his long neck. "Then... how about tonight? Alright?"
...
As the ice and snow melted, a spring breeze swept across the land. In the vast, endless fields, tender shoots began to poke through the soil, their vibrant yellow-green tips swaying in the cool air.
The fields were once again bustling with the countless figures of those at work.
The occasional chatter and shouts of the laboring Beastmen mingled with the lowing of oxen and sheep pulling plows. Field mice poked their heads out from their burrows, while earthworms and insects crawled through the soil...
It was a pastoral scene, a tableau of primitive yet harmonious farm life.
