Favorite of the Beast-world: I Got Rich Through Farming-Chapter 301 - 194: Mi Yin’s Secret and the Man in Black
"How could he have demonized...?"
Yi Yue froze, instinctively looking toward Gu Yin. "What do we do now? We were hoping to find out who was behind this through him. Now the trail has gone cold again."
Gu Yin said nothing. Instead, he transformed into his beast form and sank his fangs into the mermaid’s neck.
The mermaid named Ker’s body deflated in an instant, like a punctured balloon.
The other mermaids were all frozen in terror by the sudden, horrifying scene. They subconsciously touched their own fragile necks, as if imagining themselves in the Snake Beast’s jaws.
Watching this clean and efficient kill, An Jin felt a bizarre and inexplicable sense of relief.
’After all these years, I’d started to think I had raised Gu Yin to be a docile pet snake—the kind that would burrow into my blankets at the slightest excuse.’
’Looks like I was overthinking things. His cruelty hasn’t diminished one bit.’
The enormous black-and-red python swallowed the ruined mermaid’s body whole.
’Master, I-I-I... I finally detected it! Gu Yin’s King Beast skill is Devour!’
’He can devour the power, and even the memories, of Beastmen and Giant Beasts weaker than him. No wonder he advanced so quickly. He must have eaten quite a few of them...’
Mirror Mirror clicked its tongue. ’No wonder the King Snakes were driven out by the other King Beasts. This skill is just too broken, too overpowered. It’s like a real-life version of the game Snake!’
An Jin’s expression shifted. Her gaze fell on the python’s bulging belly. She swam over, wrapped her arms around its head, and gave it a pat. "No indigestion, I hope?"
The mermaids: "..."
’Is *that* what she’s focused on?’
Mirror Mirror feigned shock. ’Dearest Master, aren’t you afraid? This snake ate someone! He’s probably eaten a lot of them!’
"I’ve known that for a long time. I’m well past the stage of being afraid."
An Jin sighed, completely desensitized. "When he was advancing in rank back then, he told me he’d eaten Beastmen. Thinking back on it, I was actually pretty scared at the time..."
But after he started staying with her, Gu Yin had restrained his true nature. At least, he had never eaten another person in front of her, so An Jin felt it was manageable.
Under the watchful eyes of all, and the nervous stares of countless mermaids, the python shifted its massive body and gently nuzzled its head against her palm.
"A man in black," Gu Yin said coolly after he finished digesting the mermaid and changed back into his human form.
"You mean the attacker was a man in black? Where is he now?" Yi Yue asked. She instinctively trusted Gu Yin, a natural reverence for the powerful.
"The Southwest Sea Area."
...
At that very moment, in the Southwest Sea Area, scores of dead mermaids floated with their pale bellies turned to the sky. Wisps of blood drifted through the water, creating a grotesque scene.
Qi Yuan floated in the sea, feeling deeply unsettled. He turned to look at the Beastman in the black cloak. "...Why did you bring me here?"
"To find something."
The cloaked man’s voice was coarse and grating, like the sound of rust grinding against stone.
Qi Yuan frowned. He said nothing, his face grim as his gaze swept over the dead mermaids before him. The hands that had committed the slaughter trembled slightly.
After a long moment, he said quietly, "I’m leaving. I hate this place."
Years ago, when his beastman father had abandoned him in the boundless Dark Night Forest, this mysterious man in black had saved him. He didn’t know why, but he had lived with the man ever since.
A short while ago, the man had suddenly brought him into the sea, claiming he was looking for something.
The cloaked man had told him to wait here, then vanished without a trace. Today, a horde of mermaids had suddenly attacked, screaming at him, calling him a "thief," cursing his "sinful black scales," and yelling to "capture him and hand him over to the Priest for execution!"
’The sinful black scales! Why were you even born into this world?’
’You are a sinful being who never should have been born! I will hand you over to the Priest and, following the Beast God’s guidance, I will execute you...’
The memory of his father’s condemnation intertwined with the mermaids’ curses, instantly igniting Qi Yuan’s hatred. He couldn’t control himself.
When his sanity returned, he was met with the sight of the dead mermaids.
He looked down at his own hands. The blood had already been washed away by the seawater, leaving no trace of the massacre.
The man in black standing behind him slowly raised his head, revealing a fleshless, skeletal face and a pair of blood-red eyes. "Fine. Since you don’t like it here, we’ll leave." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
’In any case, my objective has been achieved.’
’Take the "Holy Artifact," and incite Qi Yuan’s malevolence.’
However, just as the two were about to leave, another formidable power swept through the area. The entire section of the sea was suddenly imprisoned within an invisible barrier, forming a perfect cube.
Their rushing figures slammed into the barrier and were instantly thrown back.
"A King Beast Domain, is it?" the cloaked man said slowly, his interest piqued.
It had been many years since he’d seen a new-generation King Beast with such outstanding talent.
Qi Yuan spun around. His youthful face, full of hatred and anger, darkened as he stared at the black-and-red snake silhouette before him. "You again?"
In the past, he had lured several waves of Demon Beasts, only for this Snake Beast to devour them all, using them as fodder to increase its own strength.
The Snake Beast had even eaten a rare Demon Beast species he had painstakingly cultivated.
"You’ve seen me before?" Gu Yin asked, his interest piqued.
"Yes, I know you all too well. The one who thwarts me time and time again. If it weren’t for my Demon Beast species, you never would have grown so powerful so quickly." At the thought of his meticulously raised Demon Beasts being eaten as fodder by this Snake Beast, Qi Yuan grew so furious he wanted to skin the creature alive.
Gu Yin, however, had no interest in reminiscing. His gaze fell on the cloaked man behind the black-haired youth, and his fingers transformed into razor-sharp claws. "Hand over the Holy Artifact you stole, or die."
"Hahaha..." The cloaked man roared with laughter. His grating voice became even more shrill and piercing, like someone scraping the inside of your ear with a rusty needle. It was enough to drive a person mad.
"It’s been a long time since anyone spoke to me in that tone."
He stopped laughing and stared coldly at Gu Yin. "I never thought a Snake Beast born only a few decades ago would have such audacity—"
Before he could finish, he lunged at Gu Yin, thrusting out his skeletal hands. The surrounding seawater roiled and surged, rushing toward the center of his attack.
With no flesh to cushion them, the cloaked man’s gaunt hands formed a blade, stabbing straight for Gu Yin’s heart!
BOOM— But a thick, black-and-red snake tail struck from above a split second faster. It coiled around him in an instant, the terrifying power contained within its muscular length whipping him directly into the nearby stone wall.
The massive underwater rock wall exploded into fragments.
Qi Yuan’s eyes widened in shock. He quickly swam over and pulled the cloaked man from beneath the pile of rubble. "...Are you alright?"
After all, this was the man who had rescued and raised him since he was a child. Qi Yuan still felt a deep sense of loyalty toward him.

Author’s Note: To be honest, this Beast World novel of mine has a lot of my own personal world-building. Strictly speaking, it’s not a slice-of-life story, nor is it a simple romance about having kids... I’m really trying to write a Beast World novel with my own unique style.
The world-building and other elements are all inherited from my previous book, and the plot connects directly to it as well, taking place 200 years before and 200 years after. My dear readers, you can check out the previous book (it’s completely free!), which might help you understand the plot better.
Of course, it’s fine if you don’t read it, as everything will be explained later on~
