Favorite of the Beast-world: I Got Rich Through Farming-Chapter 165 - 123: Both Sides Are Jealous (Part 3)
However, the majority of male Beastmen were still passionate, sincere, and enthusiastic. They were also incredibly considerate, gentle, loyal, and devoted to their mates.
By finding a few strong mates who suited her, Hua Ye would be able to better protect herself.
In fact, after what happened to Hua Ye, An Jin wasn’t as opposed to the Beast World’s custom of one female having multiple mates as she had been before.
After all, Hua Ye had suffered such grievous harm precisely because she didn’t have a mate strong enough to protect her.
"..." An odd expression crossed Hua Ye’s face. Her slender, pale fingers tightened around the bowl, but a faint blush crept onto her cheeks as she hummed softly in agreement.
She then glanced out the window, making sure everyone was gone, before asking in confusion, "...Why do they listen to you so readily? I mean, you’re not their mate."
"But I am this clan’s Clan Leader."
An Jin saw Hua Ye’s dull eyes suddenly light up. "You—you’re the Clan Leader! Can a female be a Clan Leader?"
’So females aren’t completely weak and useless?’
"Of course. There’s no reason a female can’t do what a male can."
"While it’s true that we females aren’t as physically strong as the male Beastmen, if we work hard to master our skills—whether that means helping the clan prosper or healing the sick—we can still earn their respect."
Seeing the young male Beastmen get kicked out, Ling Hong was surprisingly pleased. He intercepted a Wolf Beast. "What, you’ve taken a liking to that female from the Rabbit Clan?"
The Wolf Beast flushed, looking a little annoyed. He lowered his head and kicked at a stone. "It’s because you like the Clan Leader, Boss. You don’t give the rest of us a chance. You’d beat us up in secret if we tried anything..."
’Who among them would dare try to compete with their Boss?’
"But that young female from the Rabbit Clan is so pretty! Her eyes are round and down-turned. So cute!"
"Yeah, if you like her, go for it." Ling Hong had no time for idle chatter and left right away.
He was going to start a fire and make dinner for An Jin.
Before, plenty of single male Beastmen would always pester An Jin whenever he and that Snake Beast weren’t around.
Now that another single, beautiful female had arrived, she could definitely divert a lot of the attention from the thirsty, single male Beastmen. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
When the sky had darkened a little, An Jin soothed Hua Ye to sleep and then stepped out of the room, only to find the fox-eared youth leaning quietly against the wall, waiting for her.
"How effective was that medicinal broth?" Although his words showed concern for the new female, Chi Li didn’t so much as glance in her direction, keeping his smiling eyes fixed on An Jin.
"She calmed down a lot after drinking it."
An Jin glanced into the room. The memory of the tear tracks on Hua Ye’s sleeping face filled her with pity. "Chi Li, why don’t you let her study medicine with you? You can’t possibly manage the several hundred people in this clan all on your own."
"She’s from the Rabbit Clan, so she should have a natural talent for identifying herbs."
His smile vanished, replaced by a strange, chilly expression. "...Are you really that comfortable leaving a female with me?"
"What?"
"It’s nothing." Seeing her blank, confused look, Chi Li felt a flash of exasperation. His gilded, fox-like eyes curved into crescents as he chuckled lightly, just like always. "Since you’ve asked me to take her, of course I’ll teach her well."
"It seems that female has a quiet disposition. I imagine she won’t be too noisy."
Back in their lodging, Ling Hong had already finished making dinner. An Jin’s appetite had grown considerably after such a long day, and she devoured a bowl of rice and half a beast leg.
After she finished, Ling Hong, being a Beastman who didn’t believe in wasting food, quickly polished off her leftovers. Then, he took the pots and bowls to the small river to wash them with soapbeans.
"Do you want to bathe? I can go heat some water for you," he said hurriedly, having just returned from the river to see an exhausted An Jin taking off her coat.
He placed the clean pots and bowls on the wooden table, then quickly walked over and took An Jin’s dirt-stained coat from her, tossing it into a basin to wash the next day.
An Jin glanced at the dim sky and shook her head. "Never mind. I’m too tired today. I should just get some rest."
With that, she walked past him, heading to her room to sleep.
Ling Hong’s eyes flickered. He suddenly sidestepped and pulled her back into his arms, lowering his head to nuzzle his cheek against hers. "Then let me sleep with you tonight," he pleaded in a low voice. "It’s so cold now, and don’t you like to hold me when you sleep?"
In reality, the room was quite warm from the underfloor heating, but a blush still crept onto both their faces. An Jin could naturally see what Ling Hong was up to.
’This wolf is trying to use this opportunity to get closer to me.’
But...
Her head began to ache as she glanced at Mi Yin’s tightly shut door nearby. Ordinarily, she would go to be with him.
However, if she wanted to sort out her feelings for Ling Hong, she couldn’t keep avoiding his advances.
"Alright. I am feeling a little cold, so I’ll sleep with you," An Jin said, feigning a shiver and rubbing her arms.
A look of delighted surprise spread across the silver-haired man’s face.
Afraid she would change her mind, he quickly swept her into his arms, carried her to his room, and transformed into a big, fluffy Silver Wolf, holding her just as he had in the cave.
And Ling Hong truly did nothing more than simply hold her.
He was completely unlike Mi Yin, who would start getting handsy the moment he was aroused. This made An Jin relax considerably, and she snuggled into the great mass of snow-white fur, a wave of drowsiness washing over her.
...She didn’t dislike this intimate contact with Ling Hong. On the contrary, leaning against his warm, solid chest gave her an exceptional sense of security, and An Jin found herself craving more of it.
Perhaps she was truly starting to fall for Ling Hong. Or, to be more precise, perhaps her reliance on him had taken on a deeper meaning long ago.
It was only because of their respective personalities, and because of Mi Yin, that she had never been able to understand her own true feelings.
The dew grew heavy in the dead of night. In another, empty room, a black-and-red python coiled in a dark corner slowly opened its red-filmed eyes.
The waning heat in the room dispelled some of his drowsiness.
"HISS~" Sensing the empty space beside him, the great snake slithered along the ground toward the door, its forked tongue flicking in and out uneasily.
But he found no trace that the female had been there.
