Favorite of the Beast-world: I Got Rich Through Farming-Chapter 146 - 116: Venom for Self-Defense
Hei Xuan rarely took on his human form.
Perhaps due to his cautious and observant nature, he usually hid in Da Shu’s shadow in his Black Eagle form.
When Hu Che was away hunting, Hei Xuan would watch over his mate’s surroundings from there, constantly protecting Gou Ni.
Gou Ni was right. To live a safe life, she needed two mates.
At least in An Jin’s view of this battle for affection, Gou Ni couldn’t survive without either of her two mates.
Gou Ni was long used to such scenes. She continued to chat and laugh with An Jin, her hands never ceasing their work. Soon, she had packed dozens of bags of the flower and fruit tea.
"Hey, your stomach..."
While they were preparing the tea, An Jin noticed Gou Ni unconsciously stroking her lower abdomen, which was slightly swollen.
"Nini is carrying my cub!" The tiger bounded over from under the tree, rubbing affectionately against Gou Ni and letting out a smug snort.
Gou Ni laughed and gave him a gentle kick.
"COO COO~" The Black Eagle remained in the tree, a hint of loneliness in its cry, as it tucked its head back under its wing.
’Oh my god, she’s pregnant? Gou Ni doesn’t even look that old, maybe just two or three years older than me at most.’
An Jin was thoroughly shocked, but her expression remained calm. She simply nodded. "You should stay inside and rest for a while. Don’t walk around too much. When I have time, I’ll bring you some good, nutritious food."
"I’m not that delicate!"
Gou Ni deliberately stood up and hopped a couple of times in front of her, not looking at all like an expectant mother.
Instead, she gave An Jin, Hu Che, and Hei Xuan a terrible fright.
An Jin returned home and brought out a large jar of the fish roe paste she had made a couple of days prior, giving it to Gou Ni.
The fish roe paste was rich in nutrients—high in protein and vitamins A and D. It was very nourishing. Eating more of it would be great for the baby’s growth and brain development.
’Besides, Beastman pregnancies are very short. Gou Ni will probably give birth to a lively, adorable little cub in just two months. Eating more of this will help the cub grow up tall and smart, too.’
An Jin also left a good amount of the flower and fruit tea for Gou Ni. By the time she got home, it was already quite late.
From a distance, she could smell dinner wafting from the house.
It seemed Gu Yin and the others were already back from the hunt.
Later that night, Gu Yin finished making a set of underwear for An Jin from the Snake Shedding he had shed earlier. He had her try it on to see if it was too tight.
"Hss..."
An Jin’s face was flushed from the tightness. She took off the underwear. "It’s a little tight. It needs a bit more fabric..."
Gu Yin’s eyes swept over her body, his gaze lingering on a certain area for a moment longer. A knowing smile touched his handsome face. "Alright."
An Jin, "..."
She reached out and pushed his face away.
Mi Yin picked up the needle and thread and began to sew again. His coiled snake tail shifted, unable to resist pulling An Jin close for a tender moment.
The oil lamp on the table flickered. A small wick burned in the dish of oil, casting a solitary glimmer of light into the dark night.
The man’s features were handsome and bewitching. His upper body was powerful and lean, and his long, ink-black hair was scattered across his pale skin.
An Jin tilted her head, propping her cheek on her hand as she watched him work so intently. They kept each other company late into the night, neither of them feeling the least bit sleepy.
Maybe it was a trick of the light, but in the warm, orange glow of the lamp, Gu Yin’s perpetually cold and indifferent face seemed to hold a trace of gentleness and a hint of a smile.
"Oh, right."
An Jin, who had been watching him, suddenly remembered something. She rummaged in a nearby chest, pulled out a few small clay vials, and held them out. "Can I have some of your venom?"
"Hm?"
Gu Yin looked at her cautiously, the smile fading from his lips. "Jin’er, don’t play around. What do you need venom for?"
"For self-defense! Didn’t you say one bite of your venom could kill a Fifth Rank Beastman? I figured I could keep some for protection."
An Jin tried to persuade him. "I go out to gather, and you have to go out hunting. You can’t be by my side all the time, right? I don’t have any powers, so I need to find something to protect myself with..."
It was rare for her to think of him first in this way. A strange sense of pride swelled in Gu Yin’s chest. He’d never imagined that his venom, meant simply for hunting prey, could be thought of as a tool for her own protection.
