Favorite of the Beast-world: I Got Rich Through Farming-Chapter 115 - 105: The Golden Feathered Giant Eagle and the Ore
When plants are infected by Demonic Qi, they become highly toxic Magic Plants, such as these little white flowers before them.
Wild beasts, Giant Beasts, and even Beastmen, once infected with Demonic Qi, would lose their sanity and turn into frenzied Demon Beasts.
The last time Ling Hong was away for half a year, he had gone to exterminate several small packs of Demon Beasts.
But under normal circumstances, creatures infected with Demonic Qi tend to concentrate and thrive in areas with dense Demonic Qi, and most of them don’t easily venture beyond those borders.
The fragrance from these little white flowers would subtly weaken the beastmen’s combat prowess and perception over time.
She hadn’t expected that the Luoten Tribe, in its bid to wear her tribe down, had somehow managed to unearth a Magic Plant.
"Do you have any beast hide?" An Jin asked.
Ling Hong nodded. Sharp, black nails extended from his fingertips, and with a light swipe at his beast hide kilt, he sliced off a large piece and handed it to her.
He then watched as she squatted down, used the beast hide to wrap the base of the plant, and pulled the flowers out by the roots. After tossing them on the ground, she stomped on them hard a couple of times. "Hmph! Vile things."
Ling Hong, worried her feet might get contaminated by the Demonic Qi, pulled her a short distance away. Gu Yin shot him a cold glance, and his black-and-red snake tail subtly wrapped around the female, drawing her to his side.
Ling Hong couldn’t be bothered to get into a jealous spat with the Snake Beast. In many ways, his personality was the most similar to An Jin’s, and they were often on the same wavelength. "Do you need me to go capture that traitor?"
He was worried the traitor would cause trouble for the tribe.
"There’s no need."
An Jin shook her head. Her cat-like eyes narrowed as she gazed at the distant afterglow, where fiery clouds stained a vast expanse of the sky red. "If we get rid of this She Nuo, they’ll just quietly slip another one in. We won’t be able to catch them every time."
She took a deep breath. As the others watched her with questioning eyes, the corners of her lips curved up. "Don’t worry. They’re getting impatient. They’ll make their move in the next few days."
"So why don’t we prepare a big ’gift’ for them over the next few days and give them a proper welcome?"
An Jin was usually gentle and calm, but now her beautiful eyes curved up like crescent moons, revealing a sly yet lively spark. She finally showed a bit of the vivacity suited to someone her age.
The Beast World had no word for someone who appeared harmless but was secretly cunning, but the males were caught off guard and stared, utterly captivated. Internally, they were all screaming, ’So cute! I love it so much!’
The tribe’s harvest this year far exceeded expectations. An Jin planned to keep the hundreds of pounds of corn and sweet potatoes for the tribe’s own use.
The wheat would be ground into flour, with half of it intended for sale.
In addition to last year’s sugar cubes, skincare products, and dried meat and fruit, this year they also had a large number of straw mats, pottery jars, and the main attraction—exquisite bolts of cloth. These valuable goods would give them the upper hand in the bartering, allowing them to pick and choose the best trades.
The tribe was no longer short on salt, so An Jin’s goal for this year was very clear.
—To trade for iron ore.
It would be used to forge bladed weapons and further enhance the tribe’s combat strength.
"Trading for iron ore won’t be easy," Ling Hong said, suddenly throwing cold water on her enthusiasm.
When he saw her confused gaze, Ling Hong covered his lips and cleared his throat. It wasn’t that he wanted to dampen her spirits. "Beast Gathering City is led in rotation by the Beast Clan, the Water Clan, and the Feather Clan. The ones who control the iron ore veins are the Feather Clan."
"The Feather Clan is led by a powerful Golden Feather Giant Eagle Beastman. They’re incredibly proud and arrogant and look down on the goods offered by small tribes. Trying to trade for iron ore from them is next to impossible."
As far as he could remember, the Luoten Tribe had never succeeded, and neither had most of the surrounding tribes.
"We won’t know unless we try," An Jin said with a playful huff. She had complete confidence in the goods she had to offer.
The annual tribal exchange season arrived once again. Every tribe was bustling with activity as beastmen loaded large quantities of goods onto carts, covering them with wide beast hides to prevent other tribes from coveting them en route.
In the blink of an eye, less than half of the beastmen were left in the tribe. Most of them were the old, weak, sick, or disabled beastmen, or females.
"Ma’am, is it wise to leave so few people in the tribe? What if another tribe attacks...?" She Nuo, who had been conveniently left behind, asked as he helped pack crates on the side.
He spoke up suddenly, turning to look at An Jin with a worried expression, as if he were deeply concerned for the tribe’s welfare.
"Don’t worry. Right now, most tribes, like us, have sent their elite Beastman Warriors to the tribal exchange. They don’t have the energy for sneak attacks. But you never know..."
An Jin pulled a thin rope tight around a Beast Skin Bag, patted it, and had another beastman load it onto a cart. Her voice paused for a moment before she turned to She Nuo with a faint smile. "Then again, some underhanded tribes might just see this as an opportunity to raid us while we’re vulnerable. What do you think?"
