Fated to the Triplet Alphas-Chapter 99: Rip His Head Off
****************
Chapter 99
~Drake’s POV~
I let out a slow breath and leaned back slightly, forcing my shoulders to relax even though every muscle in my body felt wound tight.
"You’re jumping to conclusions," I said evenly.
Daisy’s eyes narrowed immediately. "That wasn’t a denial."
"It wasn’t a confirmation either." Inside my head, Drew was anything but calm.
The moment Daisy had said the word mate, a violent surge of possessiveness tore through my chest.
"Mine!" The growl echoed again, rough and dangerous.
Images of Jade flashed through my mind uninvited—her face, the way her scent had clung to the air that day, the warmth of her skin beneath my hand.
Then another image followed, one I hadn’t yet seen, but I could already imagine her standing beside the Alpha Triplets. Drew snapped viciously inside my head. My jaw tightened, which Daisy noticed immediately.
"You’re doing that thing again," she said quietly.
"What thing?"
"That thing where your eyes darken and you pretend nothing is happening."
I dragged a hand through my hair and stepped away from the broken chair, needing movement before the restless energy inside me tore through something else.
"You’re reading too much into this," I muttered.
Daisy scoffed softly. "Drake—"
"I need to go out." The words came out before I could stop them.
Daisy blinked. "At this hour?"
I grabbed my jacket from the back of the couch.
"Yes. Kindly forward her information to me. I need to see Jade."
"And do what?" I halted when my sister said that. She had a point. "Go talk to her, make love to her." She rolled her eyes at the last part because even she knew that was unlikely.
"I just... I need to see her and be sure she’s okay."
"Yeah, good luck with that. Let’s hope one of her..." she hesitated, glancing at me before she added, "...men doesn’t surround her."
Rather than answering, I walked away because, honestly, just the thought of her being with another man was doing far too much to both Drew and me.
Behind me, Daisy muttered something under her breath that sounded suspiciously like, "This is going to end badly."
I ignored it.
The moment I stepped outside, I felt the cool night air against the heat steaming beneath my skin. It should have helped clear my head. Instead, it only made the restless energy inside me feel more alive.
I pulled my phone from my pocket just as Daisy sent the message. Jade Snow – Address attached.
My jaw tightened as I stared at the screen for a moment longer than necessary.
Drew, on the other hand, was an eager bumpkin. "Let’s go get our mate."
I exhaled slowly, slid into my car, turned on the engine, and pulled away from the house. The city was calmer at this hour, and traffic had thinned into the occasional passing car.
But my mind refused to settle. Images of Jade kept surfacing without permission. She was beautiful when angry, and her scent... I inhaled deeply just remembering it.
The soft curve of her neck where the mark had been revealed, and then Daisy’s words returned.
She’s been seen with the Alpha Triplets.
Drew snarled again. My grip tightened around the steering wheel.
"You need to calm down," I muttered under my breath.
A passing driver glanced briefly through their window at the sound of my voice, then quickly looked away when they caught the expression on my face.
By the time I turned onto Jade’s street, my chest felt tight with something I could not quite name.
The houses here were quieter and smaller than what I was used to. Porch lights glowed softly along the street, and somewhere nearby, I could hear a dog barking lazily in the distance.
I slowed the car as I checked the number on the mailbox before my gaze landed on her.
Jade was standing outside the house near a sleek black car parked by the curb. The moment my eyes landed on her, something inside my chest shifted. Jade looked calm and not frightened.
I didn’t know who she was speaking to until the man in front of her half-turned.
My heart skipped a beat the second I recognized Xavier Zevran. She stood there talking with him as if this were the most normal thing in the world.
Drew surged forward instantly.
Mine.
The growl nearly broke through my control.
I forced my wolf down, gripping the steering wheel so tightly that the leather creaked beneath my hands.
"Stay down," I whispered harshly.
If Drew pushed forward now, it would draw Xavier’s attention. The last thing I needed was to lose control in the middle of a quiet residential street.
Outside the car, Xavier was saying something to her. I could not hear the exact words from where I sat, thanks to Drew’s prancing in my head, but Jade listened closely before nodding.
That small movement made my chest tighten.
What was he asking her?
The thought only made Drew pace restlessly inside my mind. I tried to calm him down when I heard the word, "It’s a date then, this Saturday."
Time seemed to slow as the words echoed in my mind. Xavier stepped closer while Jade did not move away.
She looked up at him as he leaned down and kissed her softly on the lips. The sight alone felt like something heavy had slammed directly into my chest.
My breath seized. For a split second, every instinct inside me screamed to get out of the car, walk over there, and drag him away from her.
Drew exploded inside my head. "Rip his head off."
I didn’t need anyone to tell me that was a huge mistake. Instead, my hand slammed hard against the steering wheel.
The horn blared through the quiet street before I could stop it. Outside, neither of them seemed to notice, or maybe they thought it was a mistake.
My chest rose and fell with slow, controlled breaths as I forced the wave of anger back down. Thankfully, I had masked my scent as soon as I left the house, preventing any suspicion.
"You can’t do this," I muttered to myself. Charging in blindly would accomplish nothing.
Drew snarled in protest. "No, she’s ours."
"I know."
But knowing it and acting on it were two different things. Xavier pulled back slightly after the kiss, saying something else to Jade that I still could not hear.
She nodded again. That simple gesture made my stomach twist.
Without spending another second, I shifted the car into reverse. Drew fought me the entire time.
"Go back."
"No."
"Take her."
"Not like this."
My foot pressed down on the accelerator as the car rolled backwards. Drew’s anger continued raging in my head the entire time I pulled away from the curb.
"He touched her."
My jaw clenched.
"I saw."
"He kissed her."
"I know, damn it! And Daisy was right. He’s probably her mate."
I shut Drew out as the house disappeared from view, and I turned the corner, driving down the empty street while my mind replayed the scene over and over again.
Drew’s voice came out. "This isn’t over."
I tightened my grip on the steering wheel as the car sped into the night.
"No, it’s just beginning."
