Fated To Four Alphas Even Though I Am Mute-Chapter 45: Read My Mind
Heavenโs POV
I watched as Becca unlocked the door and opened it slowly. ๐ณ๐๐ฒ๐๐ ๐๐๐ป๐ผ๐ง๐ฒ๐ฅ.๐๐๐ฆ
Desmond was standing there. He looked exhausted. His hair was messy. He was holding a small wooden box with a plate of honey cake, my favourite. How did he know?
I look at his back hoping that Dylan would came in bath he didnโt
"Thank you," Desmond said, stepping inside.
Becca gave me a look and left as she closed the door, leaving Desmond and I alone in the room.
I was going to tell her to stay but only if I could speak. I was scared to be alone with him.
What if he remembers that he hated me so much and does something to me or what if he kisses me without my permission just like Damon did before.
I watched him as he stood by the door and looked at me with a smile.
I was still seated on the bed holding a pillow to my chest.
"I brought the ointment. It is made with mountain herbs. It will help the swelling go down fast," Desmond said raising the wooden box.
Desmond walked over to me slowly. He set the wooden box and the plate on my bedside table and knelt in front of me.
"Dylan wanted you to have these. He said theyโre your favorites," he said placing it beside the wooden box on the bedside table.
I smiled at the thought that Dylan remembered my favorite cake. But why wasnโt he here to give it to me himself? It would have made a big difference if he did.
I looked over Desmondโs shoulder to the door.
"Dylan left. He thought that you wouldnโt be comfortable seeing him after what happened." He said.
"Heaven."
Desmond said as he took my hand into his and my heart began beating fast at the sudden touch.
"Iโm sorry," he said and I frowned. Why was he apologizing? He didnโt do anything. Damian was the one who should be apologizing right now.
"Iโm apologizing on his behalf," Desmond said.
I frowned and shifted back, removing my hand from his grip. Can he hear my thoughts? How did he know what I was thinking?
So I decided to test it myself. I looked into his eyes.
โBad wolf,โ I said in my mind waiting for his reaction.
Cause if he could hear my thoughts then he would certainly react to me calling him a bad wolf.
I looked deeply into his eyes and came closer to him waiting for a reaction.
Desmond tilted his head and cleared his throat.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
I nodded.
"Cause you are too close to my face. Do you want a kiss?" he asked.
I snapped back to my senses and moved away from his face.
My face was already red. I concluded that he couldnโt read my mind and thank the moon goddess for that.
There were so many mates that could read each otherโs mind or one of them could read the otherโs and know exactly what they were thinking. But it was rare. Like really, really rare.
So that means I was overthinking it and he couldnโt read my mind.
"Anyways, I was apologizing on behalf of Damian." Desmond said
I nodded.
Desmond opened the wooden box. He took out a jar.
"Can I touch you, Heaven?" He asked.
I immediately looked away. He was being too straightforward about these things.
I know that Beta Lucian said that we should consummate our marriage but this was too soon.
He realized what I was thinking of.
"No, no, no, Heaven. I didnโt mean that. I just want to fix the swelling on your cheek," he said.
I looked at him and he was blushing. We were both blushing and it was obvious.
Then I nodded to let him touch me. Oh, I mean to let him fix my cheek.
Desmond moved closer. He dipped his finger into the cool green cream. When his hand reached for my face, I flinched and closed my eyes. I expected it to hurt. But his touch was so gentle
"Shhh," he whispered. "Iโve got you."
As he rubbed the cream into my skin, the heat started to leave my face and it felt cold and tingly. It was the best feeling in the world.
The throbbing slowed down, and I felt like I could finally breathe again.
Desmond was very careful. He didnโt rush. He moved his fingers in small circles over the red mark Damian had left.
I looked at him and saw that he was staring at my face with so much sadness.
"I should have stopped him," Desmond said, his voice ws cracking.
"I should have protected you from everyone. Not just Damian, but Sofia and my sisters too."
I reached out and touched his hand. I wanted him to know I didnโt blame him for anything. He wasnโt the one who hit me.
"Theyโre gone" Desmond said
I was confused, who was gone?
"My sisters are you, they leafy after dinner so you donโt have to worry about them stressing you," He said.
I smiled deeply, it really meant a lot that they wouldnโt bother me anymore.
"Here," he said, picking up one of the honey cakes.
He held it to my mouth.
I took a bite. It was soft and sugary. The honey was thick and delicious.
When the medicine was all on my face, Desmond didnโt leave. He stayed and helped me finish the cakes. Then, he helped me lay back on the pillows.
"You need to sleep now. The medicine works while you sleep. By tomorrow, the red will be almost gone." He said pulling the blanket to my chest
He leaned down and did something that I never expected him to do. He kissed my forehead.
I felt my eyes getting heavy. The medicine was making me feel sleepy.
Desmond stood up and walked to the door. He looked at me one last time and gave me a sweet smile.
"Goodnight, Heaven."He walked out and closed the door. I heard the lock click.
I had my sweets, I had my medicine, and I had a mate had taken care of me. I never knew it would feel this good
