Chapter 129: If you can find a picture

Sebastian was sitting with one bare leg stretched along the long couch and the other foot resting on the floor, his back leaning sideways against the armrest and the back of the couch, one arm draped lazily along it. Shirtless and looking disheveled yet devastatingly handsome, he seemed almost unreal, like a perfect painting brought to life.

Especially now that the house system had untinted the glass walls and drawn back the curtains, allowing sunlight to spill into the room and fall over his honeyed skin, which glimmered smoothly like a beautifully crafted sin.

It almost felt as though he were in the comfort of his own home and she was the outsider intruding on his space.

She didn’t think she could ever grow used to his clean-cut handsomeness, no matter how long she looked at him. At this moment, he didn’t resemble the unapproachable supreme Alpha with cold, ruthless eyes. He looked nonchalant, relaxed, and completely at ease with himself, and she hated how much effect that had on her.

"Are you forgetting that I have not just one Beta but several who can handle my responsibilities when I’m not in the mood to deal with them? I’m not always required unless it’s an important matter," Sebastian replied, nearly laughing at her obvious attempt to drive him away.

As heavy as his responsibilities were compared to most Alphas in the world, Sebastian had strategically assigned Betas to every major duty in order to lessen his workload. There was one in charge of the warriors, overseeing their training and discipline. Another was responsible for ensuring the comfort and welfare of the pack members, making sure everyone fulfilled their roles so that Silver could continue to prosper. There was also one tasked with recruiting new pack warriors and appointing territory guards to secure their borders.

Matt, however, functioned as the head Beta, the one who remained closest to the Alpha at all times, acting as his right hand and immediate support.

Sebastian alone could never have managed a pack as large as this one while personally overseeing every individual’s identity and affairs. Even with capable Betas assisting him, the pack could not function for long without his presence.

Ultimately, his approval was required before any significant decision could be finalized, and his sharp instincts were often needed to determine whether something would benefit or harm the pack.

Still, that didn’t mean he had to sit in his office every single day, drowning in paperwork and formal matters. He could afford to take a day off without the entire structure collapsing.

"So when are you going to leave?" Viola asked again.

"Are you sending me away, honey?" he questioned, the corner of his lips twitching in amusement. She just wouldn’t stop trying to push him out, would she? Her stubbornness seemed to have no limits.

He stared at her as she stood there in a single oversized T-shirt dress that stopped just below her knees, with a kitten print on the front, her arms crossed like a tigress guarding her territory.

She was a haughty little thing, filled with complexities he still couldn’t unravel. Yet he found that he liked her that way. Perhaps it was her differences to the others he had met that drew him to her more and more.

Standing there glaring at him and waiting for him to announce when he would leave, he couldn’t help but find her beautiful, even without makeup, her hair frizzy and messy from not having touched a comb that morning. Did she realize how pretty she was? So beautiful that he wouldn’t mind keeping a picture of her like this safely on his phone?

As that thought crossed his mind, Sebastian asked casually, "Do you mind if I use you as my office system wallpaper?" No one ever touched his work system, and if he used her image, he would be the only one to see it.

Viola blinked at the unexpected question, slightly thrown off. He could only use her as wallpaper if he had her picture, right? She was no longer photogenic and couldn’t even remember the last time she had taken a photo of herself if it wasn’t during that competition. As long as it meant he would eventually leave, she shrugged and said,

"If you can find a picture, go ahead."

She said it confidently, certain there was no way he could get one here, unless he went searching for the photo she had taken for her profile picture during the competition. But to her surprise, he pulled out his phone and, in the blink of an eye, snapped a photo of her.

Viola gasped, not expecting him to take her picture so suddenly. Had he just captured her in this unkempt state to use as his screen wallpaper?

Without wasting a second, she rushed toward him and reached for his phone, but she was a moment too late. He swiftly slipped the device into the back pocket of his trousers and then deliberately sat on it.

"How dare you? Delete it right now!"

"I would have deleted it if you hadn’t given me permission to use you as my wallpaper, sweetheart. But now I have my wallpaper. It’s time for me to return to my office, just like you wanted," Sebastian said with a smile, simultaneously blocking her hand that was slipping beneath him to reach his back pocket and subtly shifting to stand, trying to escape her grasp and leave with his wallpaper.

"You are not going anywhere until you delete that picture," Viola gritted furiously, pushing him back onto the couch before he could move and pressing her hand further under him in a desperate attempt to reach his phone.

"Does that mean I can stay here? Because I’m not deleting it. That’s my screen wallpaper," he mused, stopping her hand from reaching his pocket.

Viola ground her teeth in annoyance. "You are such a—"

"A very charming man," he finished for her, his eyes glimmering with amusement as, through her struggling to retrieve his phone, she had ended up in an undeniably intimate position with him on the couch.
