Fated: The Alpha's Unwanted Luna-Chapter 123: Don’t wake her for me
The position was so intimate that it left Zoe gaping down at them, even though she knew she shouldn’t be looking or invading their privacy. But who could blame her? She knew every side of her brother, yet she had never thought he was capable of holding someone this gently while sleeping, as she had never witnessed such tenderness from him before.
And the most surprising thing was the fact that her brother, whom she had never seen asleep, was actually sleeping. When was the last time she had found him like this? Had she ever seen him sleep at all? Did he even sleep in his life? He was like a ghost who worked himself into looking the part of one, as though rest was something meant for the living, not for him.
Right next to the bed, scattered across the floor, were male clothes. There was a coat tossed to one side, a shirt lying crumpled nearby, and then his shoes placed carelessly apart, and it made her gasp at what this clearly indicated. Did they... have sex?!
Zoe was aware that there was absolutely nothing wrong with them having sex, as they would be getting married anyway, but what surprised her was her hypocritical brother. He didn’t trust her enough to admit that Vee was his mate or that he liked her, yet here he was, lying on her bed and holding her so intimately as if she were something precious to him.
Zoe glared down at him, fighting the urge not to pinch him awake. But something else drew her attention. Wait. From what she knew, Vee would never have allowed her brother to have sex with her because she didn’t like him at all. Could it be that her brother had forced— 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Zoe’s mind didn’t even finish forming that thought when she was suddenly met with the murderous, intensely dark eyes of her brother looking straight up at her. The sight made a shiver run down her spine and caused her to fight the urge to flee the room.
He looked like the devil who had crawled out of the pit of hell to burn her with his stare, and Zoe pursed her lips before asking, "W-why are you glaring at me like that?"
"Why the hell are you creeping on people while they are sleeping?" he rasped, his voice thick and low as he carefully kept it quiet so as not to wake the little rabbit sleeping peacefully in his arms. He had been asleep until he slowly came awake, sensing a presence hovering near him. He would have attacked instantly if he hadn’t immediately recognized that the person was his sister.
Zoe crossed her arms over her chest and scoffed. "I didn’t creep on you. You’re the one creeping into someone’s bed. Does Vee even know you’re in her bed, holding her so intimately? Are you there with her consent?"
Sebastian’s eyes narrowed darkly at his sister as he realized what she was assuming. Did she truly think he had gotten into the bed without his adorable rabbit asking him to?
"It’s none of your business. Go away and don’t wake her for me," Sebastian muttered, shooing his sister away as he attempted to turn and bury his nose back into Viola’s sweet, scented hair so he could continue sleeping. He hadn’t slept enough. But before he could settle again, Zoe raised her voice.
"You are so shameless, hermano. You—" she swallowed the rest of her words when he turned another dark glare at her. Then he looked down at the sleeping woman against him, whose brows had drawn together as if she were about to stir awake from their noise.
Sebastian quickly reached out and began to pat her back gently, rubbing it up and down in slow, soothing motions until her frown loosened and she relaxed back into his arms. The arm she had draped around his waist tightened reflexively for a moment before settling again. He smiled softly when he noticed she was drooling slightly over the arm she was using as a pillow, her lips faintly pouted in sleep.
Zoe watched him handle Viola with care, a soft expression resting on his face. But the moment he turned back to her, that softness vanished and was replaced by displeasure and a clear warning.
"Keep your voice down. What do you want?" he asked, not liking that his brat of a sister had disturbed his sleep and was now in the process of disturbing Viola’s as well. Why was she even here at this time of day, interrupting them?
Zoe glared at him, thinking him the biggest hypocrite of all time. She knew he would never admit to her that Viola was his mate, but she already had her suspicions. Still, she had never seen him treat any of his previous mates like this. She was aware that confronting him and demanding the truth would accomplish nothing except heighten her own worries.
She would feel more assured believing Viola wasn’t his mate, because that would mean her life wouldn’t be in danger due to the people who wanted Sebastian dead. But then she would also worry if Viola wasn’t his mate and he was still treating her like this, because if another mate ever appeared in the picture, Viola might be discarded and terribly hurt.
She didn’t want Vee to suffer anymore, and she certainly didn’t want her brother to be the cause of that pain.
Zoe pursed her lips. "I’m here to bring the dress sample. You know it’s past eleven, and you’re still keeping Vee in bed. I do believe it’s time to wake up, hermano."
Sebastian looked down at his wristwatch and was surprised at the time. He had been completely unaware that it was this late in the morning because the curtains were fully drawn, and quite honestly, he didn’t feel like getting out of bed anytime soon. He wanted to sleep more, breathing in her delicious daisy scent mixed with his own that now lingered on her skin.
Sebastian looked up at his sister and saw her glaring at him again. Why was she acting as if he had stolen her mate from her? The spoiled brat.
"What?" he asked.
Zoe shrugged. "I am waiting for you to get up so I can have Vee’s time to myself to try on the dress."
Sebastian muttered a curse and was about to tell her to scram, but then he suddenly recalled something important. "Can you do me a favor?" he asked, not even waiting for her to reply before continuing, "I want you to reach out to your doctor for me. I need a bottle of your supplement and the other medications given to you when your wolf was crippled."
Zoe blinked in confusion. Her supplement? Was something wrong with her brother’s wolf? she wondered, her eyes becoming worried. "You—"
"It’s not for me. It’s for her," he said, lowering his gaze to Viola’s peaceful sleeping face. Now that he was aware she had been adopted and wasn’t related to the Lindens by blood, it might be that her wolf was simply dormant and needed something to force it to awaken, like the supplements sometimes given to wolves who were weaker or slower to shift.
And if that didn’t work, then it would mean she needed her twin. He still couldn’t believe she had a twin. That information changed many things and made a lot of things make sense, especially because there was something in his prophecy he had never taken into consideration, a line that spoke about the right one being born into the world in a pair, just as he himself had been born as part of a pair.
Even so, he didn’t want to get his hopes up yet. Not until her wolf awakened and her full potential revealed itself. For now, he only wanted to try Zoe’s supplement and see if it might help her, before allowing himself to believe in something that was impossible.
Zoe’s eyes brightened with realization. "I thought of that too, and I’m glad you reminded me. I will talk to my doctor right away!" she said excitedly, already turning and dashing out of the room.
But her loud voice was enough to immediately make Viola stir awake in Sebastian’s arms, and he muttered another curse under his breath at his silly sister, who clearly did not know how to stay quiet when it mattered most.
