Alex gulps as he sees the messages, which he, of course, shares with his group.

You received Soul Crystal (Small) x3.

You received Soul Crystal (Medium).

You received Quintessence of Corruption.

You received Upgrade Token (Light Purple).

You received Skitterguard Bracers.

“Hmmm, this isn’t as good as I thought? Let’s take a closer look. First of all, I got at least the Soul Crystals back. I might as well keep them since I already paid three to the other groups,” Alex begins, analyzing the loot, his first impression, not that encouraging.

“Next, we have a Soul Crystal, but a medium one… can’t ever have enough of them, but logically…” Alex starts, then tosses the stone to Rishi, adding, “You need them for your Note, right?”

Rishi nods with a knowing smile.

[Quintessence of Corruption]… forget ever using the effect—we’ll just die. We could take it with us. It might be useful for crafting or other things inside the Realm. Of course, there’s always the option to exchange it for a [Champion’s Token] and then trade with the Centaurs, right? I remember that some of these items were even Deep Purple-quality,” Alex says.

“I could use it, but honestly, Alex, you might as well keep it. I’ve gotten so much out of this world already, don’t worry if I really need something, I’ll mention it,” Tereza says with a smile remembering their last exchange of the token and their conversation.

“Let’s move on for now. [Upgrade Token],” Alex says, intrigued by this item, which is similar to one he received before. He first recalls his older item and then compares it with the newer one.

“Shit… this one can’t be traded as well?! Why? This will cause problems,” Alex says, clearly surprised.

“It’s an interesting fact to take note of. This is indeed a slight problem if you’re the one opening every chest. However, there might be some around that aren’t bound. Also we can just trade you our items, most items are not bound to us, so I’m sure this limitation isn’t really a problem, and I think it won’t always be present anyway,” Rishi analyzes before concluding, “It’s a small price to pay if we can make use of your LUK, Alex. Don’t worry about it. You might as well use it for yourself in this case.”

Alex sighs. “I slightly regret giving away my [Shield of Pluto] now. Well, I’ve got quite a few other good items to use it on. However, I fear this item will never truly create a great unique effect, so I might as well use it on an item I intend to keep as long as possible!”

“Let’s move on… this is interesting… bracers. I’m still not wearing bracers—that’s a rare item slot, similar to cloaks, rings, necklaces, earrings, and trinkets.”

“Alex, bracers, along with trinkets, are the rarest items,” Rishi says.

“I remember… after that are rings, necklaces, and earrings. Belts and capes are just slightly uncommon,” Alex says before adding, “But why… bracers are… pretty common?”

“So are rings and necklaces, Alex. However, it’s about the system recognizing them. I think you might find items of gray or white quality without any effect easily, but rarer ones? Let’s see what we’ve got first,” Rishi explains, curious about the first pair of bracers the group has acquired.

Alex nods, looking at his [Skitterguard Bracers], which are deceptively sturdy and massive despite being made of some weird material—a mix between spider silk and chitin.

[Skitterguard Bracers]

World: Harry Potter / Wizarding World

Quality: Light Purple

Type: Bracers

Required Stats: STR - 10, PHY - 8, AGI - 6

Durability: 70/70

Effect: Increases AGI by 1 (Flat boost, not increased by skills).

Effect: Increases AGI and SNS by 1 (Flat boost, not increased by skills).

Effect: Retention - Decreases the consumption of Resources by 5%.

Note: The essence of a Corrupted Acromantula-Champion, forcefully raised to its absolute limits and condensed into a pair of bracers.

“Piece of shit generic item!” Alex curses instinctively.

“I guess so. These items only appear in front of us, Alex, I have never seen these weird items on the market! Like your [Cave Spider’s Essence Ring], which you gave to me, as well as [Howling Fang] and [Wolf’s Persistence],” Tereza says, a bit curious.

“Hmm, I’m not too sure about these items myself, but they seem to be related to your LUK, Alex,” Rishi says, admitting his lack of information.

“You two should play more games. Obviously, my LUK pushes certain items beyond their grade. This is a damn generic item that had its grade forcefully raised. I’m betting there are quite a few possible rolls for item effects that could’ve shown up. These items will never produce something too unique. This is just a generic trash item with 3 random effects of certain strengths. The first effect is the weakest effect, suitable for a green item, the next one is slightly stronger and the third effects, requiring at least Purple-grade is something more useful. Anyway I have to say, [Howling Fang] and [Wolf’s Persistence] were almost too strong for their quality, this roll is worse, in my opinion,” Alex analyzes, clearly excited as analyzing items is one of his rare hobbies.

I remember spending days at the market. Checking out items is great, but opening chests and keeping them is even better!

“Anyway, I don’t have any bracers, and they’re probably less powerful than other item slots, so these effects might be good after all. And to be honest, I like this effect of reducing resource cost. That should affect Stamina, MP, and Aura! 5% isn’t a lot, but if I use 20 fire spells, I essentially get one for free? Better than nothing. I’d like to keep them,” Alex says, satisfied with the effects of the bracers.

“Sure, I don’t need these two stats anyway—I’ve got enough of them,” Tereza says, possessing more than enough SNS and AGI thanks to her Devil Fruit.

“Go ahead, I can’t even use them!” Rishi agrees without hesitation, as he lacks the required PHY to equip them.

“Hmmm, I’ve kept most of it besides the Soul Crystal for Rishi… Let’s see what the Centaurs offer for the Essence, and maybe you can choose something, Tereza?” Alex suggests.

“I’m fully decked out. Every single item of mine is at least Light Blue. I’m very satisfied with my accomplishments, Alex. You go ahead. Only if you find nothing of value would I take my pick.”

“I didn’t pay too much attention last time, as Tereza’s skill took precedence. Also, I have [Pluto’s Ceremonial Blessing]—it wouldn’t make much sense to pick an armor piece. Might as well take a look, but I’m not too sure we should even exchange it,” Alex says, remembering his goal—a goal he’s about to reach after the mission.

[Pluto’s Ceremonial Blessing]

World: Final Fantasy 9

Type: Special (Blessing)

Quality: Deep Purple

Required Stats: SPR - 15 (Only your permanent attributes count, temporary enhancements through items or equipment do not count towards this requirement).

Required Skills: Basic Meditation lvl 5

Required Items: Soul Crystal (small) x5, Soul Crystal (Medium), 100000 FC, possession of: Armor of Pluto (Blue), Visor of Pluto (Blue), Cuisses of Pluto (Blue), Gauntlets of Pluto (Blue), Sabatons of Pluto (Blue)

Effect: Awakens the hidden potential of Pluto’s ancestral armor set “Spirit of Pluto” and permanently binds it to you making it untradeable.

Note: This item contains a small trace of divinity, requiring a significant amount of resources to manifest. Can’t be traded or sold.

“So, was this worth it? I think so, right? Even the Soul Crystals alone are worth 160,000 FC, maybe more. The [Upgrade Token] and [Skitterguard Bracers] are probably worth 30,000 to 40,000 each. I guess the Quintessence is worth 100,000 if we can really get a Deep Purple item for it,” Alex asks.

“Worth it!” Tereza says with a grin.

“Your LUK is incredibly exciting, not just in terms of chests. You always manage to find something useful—also for me,” Menchi says, remembering Alex's various rare culinary finds he gifted to her without a second thought.

“Yeah, Menchi, you’ll have to help me out with the dishes I owe…” Alex reminds her of the dishes he still owes to the other players.

Menchi smiles confidently. “Leave it up to me!”

“It’s almost like a cheat, Alex. You shouldn’t hesitate anymore—if you can actively buy them from other players whenever possible, do it. I also suspect the bracers are worth a lot more. I haven’t even seen Green-quality bracers on the market before. It wouldn’t surprise me if they were, in fact, the most expensive item we’ve gotten out of that chest,” Rishi states, offering his own take on the now empty chest.

Alex shrugs, not entirely convinced but not discounting the possibility either. “Jewel, interested in a little walk? I’m not even tired, and we’ve set aside everything else for the raid. Might as well check out what the Centaurs have to offer… now!”

Princess Jewel would love to accompany her Dearest Soulmate on a romantic stroll through the serene forest. ❤️

“It’s a cursed, burned-down hellhole of a forest, Jewel. This is not romantic!” Alex argues, Jewel’s warped sense of reality too much to bear in this instance—even for him.

“You go with Tereza and Jewel. I’m incredibly tired,” Rishi complains, his feet aching as he remembers the stressful marathon through the forest, with burning corrupted webs all around him.

“You’re such a slacker, Rishi. Your lack of PHY, and thus stamina, is almost comical,” Tereza laughs, clearly enjoying the situation.

“In the meantime, I’m working on the dishes, everyone. Don’t talk to me during the next week or two. I’ll inform Sev as well!” Menchi announces.

“Not that again!!” Tereza loudly complains.

“I can appreciate your work ethic, Menchi. That requires a lot of concentration. Go for it—if you ever need help, tell us,” Alex responds, remembering her lengthy experiments before this mission, where she became a shut-in, only focusing on her cooking.

Alex nods at Tereza and Jewel as they leave the house, forming a weird situation that Alex can’t help but laugh about. He sits down on Tereza, while Jewel remains perched on his head.

Just 20 minutes later, Tereza reaches the part of the forest where the Centaur camp is located. They no longer need to be careful, as they’ve cleansed the forest of any remaining Acromantula scouts who were hiding in the treetops, planning to ambush unsuspecting victims, like when they first arrived.

Tereza lands and quickly transforms back into her human form as the group of three makes their way into the camp.

Alex, thanks to his past deeds and his successful completion of the side quest, is immediately greeted by everyone.

Politely smiling in return, the three arrive in front of Firenze, exchanging the Quintessence for a [Champion’s Token]. They then quickly approach Mikora, the young female Centaur in charge of the Centaur shop, which was especially created for the players.

“Let’s see!” Alex says as he carefully inspects her wares, Tereza also looking at them with interest.
