Family Cultivation: I Become a Mirror-Chapter 42 Assistance
"The flesh of this bipedal beast king is the most fragrant, we absolutely must not let it escape."
It squinted its eyes, watching the two-legged beasts hastily gather together in the distance, pointing those bright, shining fires at itself, and laughed coldly in its heart.
"First exhaust their strength, wait until those two-legged beasts scatter, then I can eat that beast king."
It cautiously accelerated, weaving through the snow-covered woods, watching as the two-legged beasts grew more and more panicked, their formation more and more disorganized, feeling utterly satisfied.
Ever since it ate that injured white deer, its mind had become clearer and clearer, and with this ever-clearer mind, it had evaded several encirclements by the patterned two-legged beasts, finally leaving its own kind behind and stumbling to this place.
It had fought many of these two-legged beasts, knowing well that these kinds of beast kings often spew black fog and throw deep green bone swords, and pressing too hard only resulted in injury to itself.
It needed to press slowly, attack from time to time, bit by bit exhausting the two-legged beasts’ tactics, then it would be good to eat them.
"These two-legged beasts don’t have patterns on their bodies; I wonder what kind they are."
It carelessly jumped over a sweeping long stick, ducked its head to avoid flying arrows, and bit down on the arm of one of the two-legged beasts, crushing it, thinking viciously:
"Had all my children not been killed by that two-legged beast, there would be no need for me to act personally!"
Thinking back on being chased over seven great mountains by that patterned two-legged beast, its vital energy and mana that were injured still hadn’t recovered, a few more hints of coldness appeared in its green eyes.
These patternless two-legged beasts seemed much weaker, the golden light they released wasn’t very powerful, yet it was persistent and annoying.

The nights in the mountain forest during winter were especially quiet, the snow accumulated heavily between the trees, and as people pushed through, the snowflakes rustled down continuously; occasionally, a creaking sound echoed as the snow broke off a treetop.
"Whoosh!"
Li Xiangping shot a golden, glittering arrow, watched the wolf dodge by lowering its head, crushing a villager’s arm, and without changing his expression, drew his bow and let another arrow fly, driving back the giant wolf that was about to pounce on another villager.
Watching as that villager splashed blood while screaming and fell to the ground, painting a fiery blood blossom on the pristine white snow, the villagers couldn’t help but shiver, their arms swinging weakly with their long sticks; beside them, Chen Erniu with a stern face picked him up, hastily bandaged the wound with a piece of cloth, and carried him on his back as he caught up with the team.
"How far are we from Lijing Mountain!"
Li Xiangping called out in a low voice, trudging through the snow with uneven steps, and asked Chen Erniu loudly.
"About a quarter of an hour!"
Chen Erniu understood instantly, passed the villager on his back to others, looked afar, and shouted his reply.
Hearing that they were gradually getting closer to Lijing Mountain, the villagers’ hearts settled somewhat, gritting their teeth and glaring at the demon, praying in their hearts that they wouldn’t be the next to be knocked down.
"Lure this demon into the mountain and ambush it! If we don’t manage to kill this demon today, let it kill us on the return, you, you, and you too, the women and children in your homes will become the demon’s blood meals!"
Li Xiangping wiped the fresh blood from his face, with little mana left in his dantian, looked at the fearful and horrified villagers by his side, and bellowed.
At his words, the villagers exchanged glances, their expressions firmed up a bit, and they lifted their leaden arms again, pointing torches and long sticks at the demon.
"Aoooo————"
The demon licked the fresh blood on its silvery-gray claws, looked at the torches and long sticks pointing at it as if somewhat impatient, stamped the ground, and sped up its pouncing, biting down on several villagers in succession.
"Snap!"
But a whip crack sounded out of nowhere, a green vine whip glowing with luminescence lashed straight out, catching the demon off guard. Its waist immediately split open, leaving a bloody mark.
"Awooo————"
The monster howled loudly and retreated several steps, staring viciously at the man in the brocade clothes wielding the long whip.
"Family Head!"
Upon seeing the vine whip, Wan Tiancang finally let out a breath of relief, a weight lifted from his heart, and a hint of joy appeared on his face.
Wan Xiaohua had struck successfully but did not pursue further; his face turned pale, and he stood still to catch his breath for a few moments, slowly regaining some color on his face.
Having received the emergency message from Wan Tiancang, Wan Xiaohua had cast the Godspeed Technique three times in a row to rush from the Wan Family to Lichuan Entrance. Using the magic artifact had drained him, even with cultivation at the peak of the Yujing Wheel, and he had to catch his breath several times before regaining his composure.
"Such a tough monster."
Looking at the shallow wound on the back of the monster, Wan Xiaohua couldn’t help but take in a cold breath and said with an ugly expression:
"Let the mortals leave first."
His vine whip was a Qi Cultivation Stage magic artifact; even using it at his peak Yujing Wheel cultivation level was taxing, powerful enough to split rocks. It had only left a bloody mark on the monster’s back, and even though he had lashed out hastily, it was evident how tough the monster’s body was.
Li Xiangping waved his hand, and Chen Erniu hurriedly called for the villagers to carry the injured and trek through the snow toward Lijing Village to the west.
Watching the standoff between man and beast in the snow, Li Xiangping shouted:
"Family Head Wan, if this monster proves too difficult, head southwest. There’s a protective formation atop Lijing Mountain, and though it may not defeat the beast, it will save your life!"
Wan Xiaohua glanced at Li Xiangping and said softly:
"Got it."
He lifted his whip and with a whoosh aimed for the monster’s waist.
"Awooo——"
The monster twisted its waist with ease, dodged the vine whip, and closed the distance with Wan Xiaohua within two steps, lunging to strike.
Despite the fierce wind in his face, Wan Xiaohua remained calm. He pinched a spell with his hand, and a small jade-colored shield materialized out of thin air. It shattered with one hit from the monster’s palm, but it allowed Wan Xiaohua to widen the gap.
After a light step on the ground, the monster lunged at Wan Xiaohua again. His eyes lit up as he thought:
"A good opportunity!"
The vine whip in his hand shone brightly with white light as he aimed it at the wolf’s waist, but the monster did not dodge. A cunning flicker appeared in its eyes. It opened its wolf muzzle, sending out bursts of dark breath, heading straight for Wan Xiaohua’s face.
"Damn it! Such a cunning beast!"
Wan Xiaohua cursed under his breath, finding himself forced to loosen his grip on the vine whip and retreat continuously.
The monster growled low as it took the hit from Wan Xiaohua’s whip, then scraped at the vine whip on the ground with its paw, standing on it as it coldly eyed Wan Xiaohua with its emerald-colored pupils.
"Such a cunning monster..."
Wan Xiaohua looked at the silver-gray giant wolf, a bitter smile curling at the corner of his mouth. His Wan Family did not border Da Li Mountain and rarely had to confront monsters, let alone those of Yujing Wheel caliber.
After the monster dug its hind claw, it buried the vine whip in the snow and rushed toward Wan Xiaohua, who quickly pinched a spell to conjure the small jade-colored shield in front of him once more.
But the monster’s four feet emitted rising black Qi as it leapt into the air, smashing the small jade shield to pieces with one blow and biting toward Wan Xiaohua’s neck.
