Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Her Salvation Finally Arrives

The man’s grip tightened, gradually stealing Claire Shaw’s breath away.

In his palm, Claire Shaw’s neck was as thin as a blade of grass, and could be snapped with just a little more force.

He both hated and loved Claire Shaw, but more than anything, it was a love that was unobtainable. He even maliciously wanted to tear her apart! Ruin her!

Thunder rumbled, shaking the heavens and the earth.

It illuminated Claire Shaw’s pale and tense little face. Cecilia Lewis seemed to be under some sort of spell as she leaned down, inch by inch, to kiss Claire Shaw.

This was the woman he had fixated on for years, his sole motivation for crawling through dark places.

Just as his lips were about to touch Claire Shaw’s, she suddenly slammed her head into his forehead.

With a "bang!" sound.

The sound of skulls colliding was so clear that even Ethan Blackwood, rushing over in a car, could hear it distinctly.

His heart clenched, but he couldn’t make any sound at the moment to avoid being discovered by Cecilia Lewis, which would provoke him to harm Claire Shaw.

The car was speeding recklessly down the road, raindrops slanted against the car windows, and the speeding tires splashed a large wave of water.

Although Claire Shaw’s headbutt was a risk to herself, it nonetheless injured the opponent and forced him back.

As she broke free from control, Claire Shaw quickly reached the desk, grabbing whatever she could to throw at him.

Tablets, pen holders, ink stones, and unknown documents.

White sheets of paper floated down like snowflakes, landing at the man’s feet.

Yet Cecilia Lewis wore a full smile on his face, "Claire Shaw, you’re still the same as before, why resist? I actually love women who resist."

"Cecilia Lewis, this is a society governed by law now. You’ve just been released; do you want to go back in again?"

Although Claire Shaw was flustered, she strove to maintain calm to buy time for Ethan Blackwood’s arrival.

"Ms. Shaw, times have changed. If it weren’t for that son of a bitch Owen Crawford helping you against me back then, I wouldn’t have ended up like that. Now that you no longer have a backer, do you think the outcome could be the same as it was before?"

He stepped closer to Claire Shaw, while she played a cat-and-mouse game with him along the table.

Thankfully, the study was connected to a terrace, and she dashed to the terrace, climbing onto the edge, "Don’t come any closer!"

The man laughed coldly, crossing his arms with a watchful gaze, "Jump, then; it’s just the second floor, it won’t kill you, but it might cripple you. If your legs break, it will be even harder for you to escape!"

Claire Shaw glanced at the distance below, roughly over three meters. Jumping down would likely cost her her legs, might even injure her spine, and potentially leave her paralyzed for life.

Standing on the terrace, the fierce wind and rain slashed across her face, her skirt fluttering in the wind.

"Cecilia Lewis, we have no grievances against each other; why push me to this extent?"

A hint of ferocity appeared on the man’s face, "Who told you we have no grievances? Claire Shaw, because of you, I was kept in that place. Do you know what I thought? Why should I struggle in the mud while you remain untainted?"

"Ms. Shaw, I just want to drag you down into boundless hell to taste my pain..."

While talking with him, Claire Shaw had already discovered the best escape route.

She decisively took off her high heels and threw them at the man’s face, his first reaction naturally being to dodge.

By the time he turned his head again, Claire Shaw’s figure was already gone.

Did she actually jump?

He strode forward a few steps, only to find Claire Shaw had jumped onto an abandoned air conditioning platform and was climbing down the piping.

Watching such a delicate woman being so agile at this time was indeed surprising.

This was all thanks to the years Claire Shaw spent in her childhood raised freely by Miranda Shaw, she was like a tomboy, often carrying bricks to beat up boys who bullied her.

Hence, she was no stranger to climbing trees and scaling walls, which honed her skills.

She quickly hit the ground, running barefoot without looking back as she fled The Lewis Family’s estate.

Just like that night, she knew escaping was her only option.

Even if her feet were cut and bleeding from stones, she wouldn’t stop, nor dare to look back, with only one thought in her mind: Run! Faster!

Who knew what would happen if she was caught by that maniac?

If only she turned around, she would see the man leaning against the terrace, lighting a cigarette, with no intention of chasing after her.

In the pitch-black night, Cecilia Lewis, with a cigarette between his lips, called someone after leaning against the wall.

"It’s done."

A male voice came from the other end of the call, "You didn’t touch her, did you?"

"Heh." Cecilia Lewis’s lips curled into a sneer, "Don’t worry, I don’t risk The Lewis Family’s future on a woman."

"Looks like you’ve improved even while inside."

Cecilia Lewis exhaled a mouthful of smoke, watching the woman running desperately into the curtain of rain as if something was chasing her.

"I’m just curious, you love her so much, why choose to destroy her like this?"

"That’s not something you should be aware of, don’t forget what you’re supposed to do."

With that said, the other party hung up the phone.

Cecilia Lewis suddenly felt incredibly bored, snuffing out his cigarette, murmuring softly, "How pitiful, Ms. Shaw, forever trapped by that man, whether past or present."

All Claire Shaw felt was the whirring of the wind fiercely passing by her ears, she had no idea where she was running.

It seemed she got lost in her own life.

Why did it have to be that after crawling out of the mud she could only desire a simple life, yet it all went against her wishes?

These men always tried to force her to compromise with various means. After all her escape, was she really destined to finally become just a man’s plaything?

At that moment, a black car sped through the curtain of rain, its dazzling headlights shining onto her.

Claire Shaw’s pace gradually slowed down.

For some unexplainable reason, she just had a feeling that it was him!

Sure enough, the car screeched to a halt even at high speed, the tires screeching sharply against the ground.

Immediately, the car door swung open, a shadow leaped out.

Much like a cheetah sprinting across the savanna, he dashed toward Claire Shaw at an incredible speed.

Claire Shaw stared intensely at the man running toward her, before she even had a chance to think, she was pulled into a strong embrace...

Ethan Blackwood’s deep voice carried a note of obvious fear, "Sorry, I’m late..."

When that familiar voice resonated in her ears, Claire Shaw finally felt like she had come back to life.

Her nose tingled with a feeling, and she looked up, peering through the rain into the deep eyes of the man. His gaze was deep and dark as if it blended into the night, profound and captivating.

The unique cold fragrance of him with each breath gave Claire Shaw a sense of security.

Clear boundaries had been drawn in her heart to keep their relationship on the bed and nowhere else.

Yet, at the moment of danger, the person she thought of was him.

The moment she saw him appear, her wildly beating heart finally calmed, as if her savior had finally arrived.

Ignoring Wyatt Lawrence’s warnings, she rose on her tiptoes, grabbed the man’s tie, and without hesitation met him halfway, sealing the unfinished sentence.

Passionate and possessive, fiercely biting his lips...
