Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Put Your Foot Out

In the past, Claire Shaw would always clean herself thoroughly at home before meeting him, head straight to the point after meeting up, and then quickly rinse off with the hotel shower and dress up to head home.

She thought hotel bathtubs were too dirty, even if there were disposable bathtub soak bags, she had no leisure time for that.

As Ethan Blackwood would say, every time it felt like a ghost was chasing her.

Her apartment at home is too small, installing a wet and dry separation is already quite difficult, let alone having a place to install a bathtub, so the desire to soak in a bath was shelved.

This small apartment she lived in was bought by herself, and Meridia’s housing prices are the highest in the country, so it’s no exaggeration to say that every inch of land is worth an inch of gold.

Besides her job at the kindergarten, she privately takes on some freelance work.

Looking at the small single apartment, the down payment cost her over five million, exhausting her winnings from design competitions from years ago, along with her savings from freelance work, and she still has to pay a monthly mortgage of over ten thousand.

She claimed to Miranda Shaw that Owen Crawford gave her this apartment as a gift, to which Miranda raised her eyebrows and said Owen was really stingy.

The Crawford Family is also a prominent family in Meridia, so an eight-million home is indeed not expensive.

Owen Crawford actually wanted to buy it in full for her, but Claire Shaw refused.

It’s not because she was pretending to be virtuous; from the beginning, she knew she couldn’t go the distance with Owen Crawford.

Once you have financial ties with a man, those material things that prove his love while things are good turn into daggers aimed at you when things go sour.

Without financial entanglement, she could part cleanly and decisively.

Claire Shaw was prepared to stay overnight tonight, and thus, she was not in a hurry, quietly enjoying this moment of tranquility.

Ethan Blackwood was quite patient; she dawdled inside for over an hour, and he didn’t urge her even once.

The countertop had unopened skincare samples, prepared specially for female diners, all from top brands.

They weren’t full-size products, so Claire Shaw felt no pressure to use them.

When Ethan Blackwood pushed open the door, he saw the woman wearing his bathrobe standing in front of the mirror, meticulously applying lotions.

His stature was tall and the robe was custom-made, much larger than regular sizes, and on Claire Shaw, it draped wide and long to her calves.

She looked like a little girl playing dress-up, wearing her father’s clothes.

Having just finished the bath, her skin was a rosy pink, with a thin layer of sweat beads visible on her forehead, and her whole face was as lush and beautiful as a petal.

She tilted her head back, carefully spreading the skincare product onto every part of her neck with her palms.

Without even touching, just by looking, one could tell how good her skin felt: soft, smooth, and very elastic.

Claire Shaw felt the shadow cast down, opened her eyes, and saw the man quietly appearing behind her in the mirror.

Ethan Blackwood reached out, wrapping his arm around her waist, pulling her heavily into his embrace.

Claire Shaw’s back pressed closely against his chest, with wide sleeves revealing the man’s strong, muscular arms.

He leaned in and sniffed around her neck, "What did you apply? Smells nice."

Claire Shaw faced the mirror, clearly seeing this enticingly romantic scene, making her face grow even redder.

She raised the sample, "This, but unfortunately there’s no body lotion."

She had been practicing skincare since she was fifteen, applying body lotion every time after a bath.

After all, he was just a restaurant, so the usual essentials for touch-ups, hand washing, and facial skincare were readily available, but there wasn’t any body lotion.

"How about face cream?"

Claire Shaw paused, "It can be used; it’s just a bit wasteful. It’s not winter, so it’s not that dry, making it okay not to apply."

Even these top brands, a 5ML sample costs more than three hundred per jar.

If it were used for the body, it would be too extravagant.

At the end of her words, Ethan Blackwood scooped a generous amount into his palm, saying, "I’ll help you."

"No, don’t," 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

The man’s palm already landed at her collarbone, his warm palm melting the cream, which then slowly seeped into the texture of her skin.

"It’s alright."

"No rush."

Ethan Blackwood casually folded a large bath towel and placed it on the counter, and Claire Shaw hadn’t understood his intention before her waist tightened and a feeling of weightlessness came over her.

Claire Shaw was lifted onto the wash counter by him.

The man opened a few bottles saying, "Stretch out your leg."

Claire Shaw widened her eyes, "Ethan Blackwood, you..."

Ethan Blackwood directly reached out and pulled her leg, her toes curled in shyness, appearing very cute.

"What’s there to be nervous about? Haven’t I touched every part of you?"

He pinched her delicate, pale ankle, gently massaging in circles with a rough fingertip, over and over, patient and gentle.

The knee still had bruises from previous knocks, starkly contrasting the surrounding skin.

To anyone else, it would not be this severe; Ethan Blackwood murmured, "How do you manage it, being so tender?"

Claire Shaw felt utterly embarrassed, extending her small feet against his chest to refuse.

The man was simply like made of iron; nowhere on him wasn’t hard as a rock.

"I won’t apply anymore, that’s enough!" Her threatening voice carried a slight tremor.

Ethan Blackwood effortlessly held her small foot, "That’s not right, has Ms. Shaw ever heard the saying? Start what you finish."

Her body edged back, until it bumped against the cold mirror.

With eyes meeting, Ethan Blackwood gently kissed her....
