Chapter 220: DANCE MISSION (VII)

HANEUL took a deep breath once he was done. He definitely had not danced well. Even though his body was more flexible now, it still sometimes refused to follow the rhythm he wanted. Haru had tried his best to help him, but it was still a problem, especially with new choreography. He sighed and only then noticed that no one had said anything after he finished.

He only then noticed that the entire room had gone quiet. He looked around and saw that everyone was staring at him. Wait, did he do so badly that now everyone was just gawking at how terrible he was? He put his glasses back on, and that simple action seemed to break whatever had frozen the people watching him.

He gave an awkward laugh and sat back down on the floor. "Sorry, I told you I’d be bad at it."

Eunwoo cleared his throat. "It’s not that bad. You definitely have room to improve, but you made up for a lot of it with your expression alone. It’s... captivating, in a way."

He hadn’t meant to say that last part, but it was the truth. Kang Haneul’s dancing definitely left a lot to be desired, but the way he used his face was just lethal. He already looked like a walking gumiho without those glasses, which he used like some kind of barrier to keep people from noticing him too much. But when he took them off and actually tried to pull attention, it was like a bomb going off. It was just as Eunwoo said—lethal.

He was seeing a glimpse of why Taeyang was so interested in the other. If he were an Alpha driven by his pheromones, he would probably pant after Kang Haneul like a dog in heat. He glanced at Jeon Hyunsik. Just like this one. The other guy was still staring intently at Kang Haneul, barely able to hide the desire in his eyes. Eunwoo shook his head to himself. What a mess.

Thankfully, Lim Suho, who was also a Beta, did not seem to notice anything strange and just let out a low whistle. "Your dance was actually hot. I can’t even explain why, since your moves were kind of a mess, no offense."

Haneul blinked and then gave a small chuckle. "None taken. I know I was a mess." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

"You’re beautiful when you dance," Jeon Hyunsik said suddenly, looking straight at Haneul. "That’s probably why it looked so hot."

Haneul forced himself to smile at Jeon Hyunsik. It was just a simple compliment, and he should not think too much about it. But the way the other was looking at him was jarring. It felt like Jeon Hyunsik wanted to take a bite out of him. He calmed himself down and just said, "Thank you."

Lim Suho snapped his fingers, like he had just realized something after hearing Jeon Hyunsik’s words. "Ah, yes! That’s exactly it."

"So, let’s vote on who will be our center?" Baek Eunwoo said, which made Haneul feel relieved. He really did not want them to keep talking about how ’hot’ he was while dancing. "How do you suggest we do this?"

"Let’s just point at the person we think suits the position the best," Lim Suho suggested.

"Does everyone agree to that?" Baek Eunwoo asked. When no one disagreed, he continued. "Alright then, we’ll all point to who we think is best suited to be the center. On the count of three. One... two... three."

On the count of three, Haneul raised his hand and pointed at Baek Eunwoo. Lim Suho did the same. Jeon Hyunsik pointed directly at Haneul, while Baek Eunwoo pointed back at Jeon Hyunsik.

Seeing the result, Haneul could not help but let out a sigh of relief. He could not be the center. If he were, it would be a disaster. Yes, of course he would work hard to learn the choreography. But if he was the center, all his weaknesses would be under the spotlight. Sure, he might get by with his face, but how far could that really take him? So, it was much better for someone else to be the center.

He thought Baek Eunwoo was the perfect fit for the job. The other’s clean, technical style would give their performance a solid, professional foundation.

Eunwoo let out a quiet sigh of relief. He wasn’t desperate to be center, but he did believe he was the most logical choice for their team. Lim Suho’s energy was too bright for the song’s mood, and Jeon Hyunsik’s interpretation leaned heavily into the kind of moves a male stripper might use. As for Kang Haneul, his technical ability needed work, but his face was so captivating that if he were in the center, his sheer visual pull might completely overshadow the rest of the group from the audience’s point of view.

This was still a competition, after all. The moment Eunwoo decided to join this program, he was determined to debut. If he did not, his so-called family would probably ship him off abroad just so people would forget he had joined such an ’embarrassing’ show. So, yes, if they were going to perform as a group, he could not allow just one person to shine. It should be all of them.

He glanced at Jeon Hyunsik. He saw the other’s lips press together for a second, showing he was not happy with the result. But he quickly raised the corner of his mouth in a faint smile. It’s obvious Jeon Hyunsik had wanted to be center. That’s why Eunwoo had pointed to him as a consolation, so he would not get angry and cause problems for the team later.

In truth, he had wanted to point at Lim Suho. If not himself, the other was the second best choice. But he had not, because he could tell Lim Suho was not the type to hold a grudge just because no one in the team picked him to be center.

Eunwoo smiled gently at his three teammates. "Thank you for trusting me. I’ll do my best as the center, and I’ll work just as hard as your leader to help us all do well."
