Falling for the Omega Idol-Chapter 159: VOCAL PERFORMANCE (II)
SONG JIA stared at the button in her hand, trying to decide which of the two teams to vote for. They had just performed [Secret Entrance] by Rogue Teens. She wasn’t really a fan of that group—or most 4th gen boy groups, to be honest. Their music tended to be too loud and harsh for her taste. And she knew plenty of others felt the same way.
Maybe that was why 4th gen girl groups were ruling the domestic charts right now. Though the same couldn’t be said overseas. International fans ate up boy groups no matter what. Even if a group barely made waves locally, a strong global fanbase was enough to keep them going.
She was more of a fan of 3rd gen groups, but most of them were currently in military service, including her ult group, Infinite Boys. Because of that, she hadn’t been actively fangirling for over a year now, telling herself she’d only dive back in once all the members of her ult group were discharged. But then she accidentally watched the first episode of [Boys Odyssey], and somehow, she ended up here.
Okay, maybe not ’somehow’. She’d been genuinely intrigued by the first episode, which was why she watched the second one too. Even though she’d told herself she was done with idol survival shows, something about Boys Odyssey’s format pulled her in. She especially liked that there was no unnecessary evil editing. So when she saw the notice about signing up to be a live audience member for the contestants’ first performance, she applied right away.
She hadn’t really cared if she got picked or not. But luck was on her side, and now here she was.
She’d enjoyed every performance so far, even the ones with mistakes. Because despite missed notes or wrong lyrics, no one gave up. They kept singing, proving how badly they wanted this. How much they all craved a spot in that final lineup. That determination was refreshing to watch. Maybe it was because none of them had a company backing them up. For most, this show was their only shot at debuting.
Song Jia finally made up her mind and pressed the buttons for the contestants she wanted to give points to. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"And now, we’re finally at the last song of our vocal mission," Lily said. "Please welcome the two teams who’ll perform one of Dissept’s beloved songs, [Falling For You]!"
Song Jia stared at Lily. It still felt strange seeing such a famous idol hosting an idol survival show. And that wasn’t even counting the ship itself. Just how much money had they poured into this production?
Her focus snapped back as the two groups walked onto the stage, mostly because of the audience’s deafening cheers. Most were screaming Taeyang’s name, though she could also pick out shouts for Eunwoo and Haneul. She recognized those contestants, especially Taeyang. And she understood why. Fans always went crazy for that type of classic dominant Alpha. With Taeyang, it didn’t hurt that he had the skills and looks to match.
But for Song Jia, she was more interested in that French Omega who could speak fluent Korean. It wasn’t just his nationality or the fluent Korean that made him stand out. It was how much he looked like an Alpha despite being an Omega. Truthfully, if the show didn’t show each contestant’s second gender next to their name during interviews, Song Jia would never have guessed he was an Omega.
She’d been waiting for Robin to show up since the beginning. Since he hadn’t appeared yet, he was likely in one of the last two groups. And sure enough, there he was now, standing with Taeyang, Haneul, and two other contestants.
Their group wore matching white long-sleeved shirts with loose, open necklines. The shirts were tucked into fitted black pants, all of them in black shoes. Only three members had added black chokers around their necks. Song Jia figured the ones wearing chokers were the Omegas in the group. She already knew for sure two of them were Omegas, so it made sense.
The other team wore all-black suits. The look worked especially well on Eunwoo.
"Please, introduce yourselves," Lily said to the group to her right.
Eunwoo introduced himself first, then the contestant beside him took his turn. Once all six had given their names, they spoke together:
"And we are... Six-tory!"
After the audience finished applauding, Lily turned to the group on her left and asked them to introduce themselves.
"Hello, this is Taeyang," Taeyang said, prompting another round of cheers from the audience.
The next one to introduce himself was Seongwoo, then Joonhyuk. After him came the Omega with pink dyed hair.
"Hi everyone!" Robin said, his voice bright and cheerful. "I’m Robin! Thank you all for coming today!"
Song Jia clapped and cheered. "Fighting, Robin!"
"Hello, I’m Haneul," the last member of the group introduced himself. "I really hope you will like our performance."
Then he smiled, and the crowd went completely silent for a moment. Honestly, Song Jia couldn’t blame them. Even she found herself mesmerized for a good five seconds before she managed to snap out of it. The crazy part? He wasn’t even her pick, and he still had this effect on her. It was like some kind of black magic. She let out a quiet laugh at her own description and shook her head. What black magic? The Omega just had overwhelming sex appeal, plain and simple.
"We are Stellar Five!" the five said in unison.
After both teams finished introducing themselves, Lily spoke up. "Now, let’s hear the final performance from our last two groups!"
The staff began arranging six standing microphones across the stage as Lily and both groups made their way offstage. After the crew finished setting up the last of the props, Eunwoo’s team reentered and took their places in front of the waiting microphones.
Then the music started, and they began to sing.
I still hear your voice in the silence of the night
But I can’t reach for you, even in my dreams
