Chapter 147: INFURIATING GUY

BOTH Taeyang and Baek Eunwoo’s team were in the same practice room. They were waiting for the arrival of Yoon Jihoon and K-Beat, because today was the day the two mentors would check each team’s progress with the song they would perform for the first live performance.

The staff had informed every team last night that groups performing the same song would share a practice room during today’s evaluation. That’s why the two teams found themselves waiting together like this.

Haneul couldn’t help but think this was the program team’s way of stirring up drama. By having rival teams watch each other’s progress, the pressure would double - especially if one team performed noticeably better while the other got harsh critiques from the mentors. It would be the perfect material for creating tension, exactly what producers of reality shows loved.

He’s not worried that it would happen to their group, though. Not because he was looking down on the opposing team, but simply because he just had that much confidence in their group.

Since the Lee Minjae incident, their team’s dynamic had improved dramatically. No more arguments, just calm discussions where everyone actually listened to each other. The result? Their song arrangement steadily improved with each practice. What’s more, Seongwoo had been way more energetic compared to before. He started speaking up more, sharing his thoughts openly. It made a real difference in their team’s atmosphere.

That’s why Haneul wasn’t worried about the evaluation at all. If anything, he was looking forward to hearing what the mentors thought of their performance.

Haneul looked around at his teammates. Robin and Seongwoo were deep in conversation, while Joonhyuk talked animatedly to Taeyang—who kept his face blank, though Haneul could just tell he wasn’t truly paying attention. This made Haneul stifle a laugh.

Their teamwork had solidified so naturally these past few days, it was hard to believe they’d ever struggled. The other activities probably helped too. Besides practicing, they’d spent time filming videos that would be posted on Boys Odyssey’s social media accounts once the show started airing—popular dance challenges, cute TikTok trends, all that stuff.

Haneul ended up doing most of the trendy challenges, since his dancing still needed work. At first, he’d cringe through every take—playing cute didn’t come naturally to him. But after a while, he adopted a "whatever" mindset: ’If people laugh at me, who cares? I won’t even see their reactions, anyway.’ Once that mindset set in, things got easier. He even learned to enjoy it.

His dance practice was also going well. Although he was still doing basic choreographies, his flexibility had definitely improved. Which was a good thing. His body rolls definitely looked much better now.

After team practice ended, Haneul would eat dinner, call his family, then head straight back to the practice room their team used. Robin usually joined him. Sometimes Seongwoo tagged along too. Later, he’d meet up with Haru for their usual sessions—and more often than not, Seojun would show up to practice with them as well.

This was his usual schedule every night. Well, not really the full schedule, because he forgot to mention how Taeyang would also appear from time to time. It’s just kind of embarrassing whenever he did. Not because he felt awkward around him—well, there was still some awkwardness—but mostly because of how the other acted whenever they practiced dancing together.

After that first time, when Taeyang joined him and Robin, the other would stand far from him. But he would still somehow position himself in line with Haneul, so his every movement was still perfectly visible in the mirror.

At first, Haneul thought maybe Taeyang just didn’t like standing close to an Omega. But that idea fell apart when he saw how easily Taeyang danced near Robin or Seongwoo. That meant the problem was Haneul himself.

He kept wondering what the issue could be. Did he smell bad? Was his bad dancing too distracting? Then he remembered Taeyang’s whole hot-and-cold behavior around him. Since he’d already decided not to let it bother him, he stopped overthinking it. Whatever Taeyang’s deal was, it clearly wasn’t Haneul’s fault—so why stress over it?

He stole a glance at Taeyang. He really wanted to know what was going on inside that frustrating head of his. Just as he sighed and started to look away—before they could have yet another awkward eye contact for the nth time—he noticed Taeyang seemed to be staring at something, or maybe someone, in the wall mirror. Haneul automatically followed his gaze, only to lock eyes with Taeyang’s gray ones reflected in the glass.

Haneul jolted, his breath catching in his throat. Before he could even process it, his body already moved on its own—head snapping to the side like he’d been burned, his gaze dropping to the floor as heat crawled up his neck.

Then he froze. Wait—why was he the one getting flustered here? If anyone should feel awkward, it was Taeyang, who’d clearly been staring at him first.

He briefly considered staring back—really making Taeyang squirm for once—but before he could act on the impulse, the practice room door swung open. Yoon Jihoon and K-Beat walked in.

All the contestants in the room immediately jumped to their feet, bowing in unison as they greeted the two mentors. freewёbnoνel-com

Yoon Jihoon smiled warmly and waved at the contestants as he walked to his assigned seat. K-Beat, on the other hand, maintained a serious demeanor, acknowledging everyone with just a slight tilt of his head before taking his seat.

"Alright, everyone," Yoon Jihoon began, his voice warm like always, "you’re the first groups we’re seeing today. We’re really looking forward to watching what you’ve prepared. Just do your best, okay?"

K-Beat gave a firm nod, arms crossed. "Show us the results of your practice."

"Okay, which group would like to go first?" Yoon Jihoon asked, looking between the two teams.

Baek Eunwoo raised his hand politely. "If it’s alright with everyone, we’d like to volunteer first."

K-Beat gave a short nod. "Go ahead."

Baek Eunwoo and his team quickly moved to position themselves, standing in a straight line facing the two mentors.
